Enjoyed this video. I regularly ride 500km days with lots of off-road following the Trans Euro Trial in the Pyrenees. Agree with your recommendations. I have the OEM skid plate and tool box. It’s great. For upper crash bars and rear rack I’ve gone Adventure Spec. Their stuff is really well made and good value. The only other essential for me as a 100kg rider is upgraded front and rear springs. Transforms the bike on and off road for not a lot of money. Enjoying the Bridgestone AX41 for 50/50 riding but swapping to Mitas E13 & E12 for more 70/30. The rocky trails here in Spain shred tyres! Keep the videos coming.

I too like the Puig best, even for long distance riding as I don’t like looking through the Givi. I’ve found that the Factory saddlebags and racks are the best and wouldn’t exchange them for any of the aftermarket ones. I got my anti bobble brackets from Dirtracks and love them.

Very much enjoy your videos. Watched almost all of them. So what are your thoughts about the factory heated grips? Lots of not so satisfied customers saying they don’t get very hot. I really like the placement of the controls vs. other brands that stick out in space. I am here in the US North East and we need good heated grips. Thoughts?

What is your opinion on the protection of upper only lower only crash bars given that you have not added the lower bar? Also would you install the Yamaha bars over aftermarket given your experiences. I was thinking the lower bars plus hand guards would also protect the upper panels while adding less weight, coupled with a better skid plate. My first purchases were the center stand and hand warmers from Yamaha, ordered with the bike from new, based on European rider input before the NA availability of the T7 Love the detail in you videos. (I’m a subscriber and I will give this a thumbs up..and apparently a brown noser)
@orbsurfer8195
@orbsurfer8195 3 года назад
Thanks! I might add the lower bars later. If the bike falls over, the upper panels are more vulnerable (unless the terrain is rocky...) than the lower parts of the bike. The reason I did not use the Yamaha upper bars is that the Yamaha bars does not follow the lines of the bike too well. I'm too picky! :-) The Yamaha bars are guaranteed of good quality! Some of the bars on the market, combine upper and lower bars into one design. That would have been my choice if I bought bars again. Good Luck with your bike!

Tks for this awesome video. I really love the T7 but for now nobody has it and not sure it’s the bike for me. I’m a on road experienced rider but beginner in off road. 6’3 for 240 and it would be my daily driver, able to do highway too at 75-80 for long distance. I know the engine and the bike can do it but is the rider can handle it without being a nightmare?

I have had many long rides - going 80-85 mph - zero problems. But having a taller windshield than standard - in your case maybe the Givi shield - and a good quiet helmet such as an Arai - makes a huge difference! I do not like looking through the windshield so I use the mid size Puig windshield, but being 6'-2" - there is some buffeting - but I also have the 20 mm taller seat. Good Luck!

I really like the skid plate. Does it have flat bottom to use mx lift? Would you buy the same skid plate again? Maybe black color would look more like carbon?
@orbsurfer8195
@orbsurfer8195 2 года назад
It is fairly flat. I really like the plate, but in warm areas, extra ventilation in the form of additional small penetrations in the plate is recommended. The fan for the radiator runs more often, and the temperature reading is higher with this skid plate vs. standard skid plate.

I went for Hepco & Becker center stand. It has more advantages than OEM. It is lighter, cheaper, does the job, narrower - importnant if riding a lot offroad. OEM is useless for offroading, pivot leg catches all stuff it meets.

@@orbsurfer8195 - Where in La, are you? Anywhere near Shreveport? I ask because I too ride a T7 and live in Deep East Tx and travel to Shreveport at least once per month as I get my healthcare at the VA there. As for the vibration issue I went to a +1 tooth countershaft sprocket and that fixed the Highway speed issue and also allows me to fide at 70-80mph and still get around 50mpg.

I don't understand what you mean with 'teutonic' standards. Can you elaborate ?
@orbsurfer8195
@orbsurfer8195 3 года назад
Teutonic = German. German engineering and manufacturing tolerances used to be extremely high, sometimes too high. This is not the case with the Touratech Upper Crash Bars nor the Hepco & Becker Hand Guard Brackets for the Yamaha Ténéré 700. Both products are some of the worst I have seen in years! Very sloppy! The customer support of both companies are none existing; i.e. when I pointed out the lackluster manufacturing of the crash bars: Touratechs response: The product looks good on our pictures. I hope both companies will start caring about their products, and get away from the "Good Enough" attitude. I have nothing against Germany, nor any other country. I just hate when I pay top dollar for a product, and the product is very poorly manufactured and I have to modify the product by cutting and welding to get the product to perform as intended. I did not show this in the video, but that was what was needed in both instances. I'm just shaking my head in bewilderment! :-)

Read that the OEM heated grips are not that effective - what’s your experience?
@orbsurfer8195
@orbsurfer8195 3 года назад
The maximum output can be adjusted; i.e. programmed to three different levels, when you install the grips. I programmed my heated grips to the mid level. This is in addition to the three settings you get when clicking on the green button on the switch. Riding in 5 degree Celsius/40 degree Fahrenheit weather, I use some mid-weight winter riding gloves, and I only use the heated grips on the setting showing two lights, the middle setting. THE HEATED GRIPS WORKS VERY WELL! :-)

Do the thicker grips affect the functionality of the grip heaters much ?
@orbsurfer8195
@orbsurfer8195 3 года назад
The heat takes a little longer to penetrate through the extra "insulation", but heat will always travel from hot to cold; i.e. the Second Law of Thermodynamics. :-)
@MrRodwatson
@MrRodwatson 3 года назад
I see you mentioned the Givi side cases and case racks.........but you also talked highly about the OEM rear rack/top rack. -Can these be used simultaneously? I thought they could not....🤔 FYI...I do not yet own a T7, but planning too soon. And I would prefer to "buy once..cry once" 🤨
@orbsurfer8195
@orbsurfer8195 3 года назад
No, the Yamaha Top Rack and the Givi Side Case Carriers are not made to fit together. I had to modify both the rack and the case carriers to make them fit together; i.e. cutting, grinding, drilling, filing and painting... :-) I will try to make a video about the modifications necessary.
