I've had 2 Tmax's. They were fantastic bikes. I would love a 750 for extra power as they rev high at motorway speed and consume significantly more fuel. I have a CBR500r now that I don't use mid week as it is not practical. I used to hop on the Tmax to run across the city for the usual bits and pieces. I miss the under seat storage for my lid and whatever else I needed / had to buy. That means that I ride less and use the car. I'll be going back to a Tmax soon. I don't like the anti-scooter vibe though. Bikes are a tool box, you buy what you need and use it.
I have an 09 TMax. It is my fifth scooter, and also have had two motorcycles. My TMax has a Corbin seat, and is very comfortable. It is a keeper and if I buy another bike, it will also be a TMax.
I have been commuting to London for more than 4 years on a Super Scooter and done over 120,000 miles. They are cheap to run, service & insure. Despite the initial purchase price... A long term owner & commuter will get everything they need from a super scooter. Yamaha is without doubt one of the best.
@@hassanjamal4212 Sorry.... What is your question?? Do I filter between cars....?? For sure I do. Around 30% of my journey, daily is filtering. Why ride a motorcycle or a scooter and "sit in line with cars & traffic"??
@@mikadavies660 roads in london are usually packed with vehicles and margins for filtering are tight, especially for a big scooter like the tmax. So my question is, can you easily and safely filter through the city traffic on the scooter and maneuver it in cramped spaces in order to park etc
@@hassanjamal4212 I ride a Honda Silverwing.... Which is a 600cc Scooter. Exactly the same size as the Yamaha T-Max. Filtering on a large scooter is easier than a small scooter and easier than a 600cc motorcycle.... For these two main reasons... (1) heavier scooters have very nice balance. Light small scooters move around too easily on the smallest bumps. (2) Motorcycles have gears, clutches etc... Whilst easy to use they are not as simple as a twist & go scooter. Aside from my daily commute into & through London. I have 1000cc superbikes which I ride at weekends. So I know very well which is "best" for which job. Gaps between cars are indeed tight but it is also a factor of handlebar width. Most bikes, scooters and motorcycles have exactly the same handlebar width from 125cc to 1,200cc. Unless it's an "Adventure Tourer" BMW GS style / KTM etc. In which case they are 50mm to 100mm wider and they have serious issues with tight gaps. Often they struggle to pass. Hopefully, you have all the questions answered and reasonable information. Regards Mike
I love my 2019 TMax 530DX. I bought her trading in a 530 without ABS and the ABS is fantastic. I rode down from Cambridge to Amalfi on my TMax in 2 days and wow what a cruiser, even cruise control.
Love my 2019 530dx - the cruise control, tall screen and goldwing-like seat are a Godsend on long motorway trips and it’s as much fun as my “proper” bike in the twisties. I personally don’t think it’s overpriced considering the sheer amount of tech and capability you get - it’s a 20k tourer in more compact form! Not a complaint but my only wish would be for a little more grunt - it’s fast enough but if it had around 75-80bhp and genuine 120mph performance it would be perfect 👍
Dude I’m with you. Riding the empty motorways of the UK to work during lockdown was such a tonic for my mind. I stuck a cup holder to the inside of the fuel cap (not trade marked ;)) and cruised those roads on a steady 70mph, with coffee! Probably one of my most calm moments in the last ten years. I sadly traded mine for a BMW K1600 Bagger thinking I’d do a lot more miles. Surprise, I didn’t. Not even half. Big touring are such a tense ride (under 5mph) that it wasn’t any fun, I certainly wasn’t comfortable reaching for a cappuccino. I regret my decision so much I’m saving up for another TMAX. If I could have two bikes my choices would be, TMAX and Husqvarna 701 Supermoto. That would be all my boxes ticked. If I could have only one motorcycle for the rest of my life, TMAX no question. It’s that good. And when you learn to lean it u til it scrapes peg/exhaust - it can embarrass a lot of 600cc sportsbike riders. Just don’t do any drag racers 🙈😉
Loved the tmax ever since I saw them used as live camera mules in the Tour de France bicycle race. They had no problem up steep hills , two man up, with cameras.
I had a tmax 530 for 6yrs put 55k on it. Also had an XSR900SP give me the tmax for commuting on any day. Rock solid city tool build quality much higher than XSR too. Would get another one in a heart beat.
Have owned a couple of these in the past - great bikes but for less money I purchased the Honda NC750x. I call it a motorbike with scooter thinking. More luggage options, bigger wheels, fully automatic and better MPG.
I have a 2021 T-Max & love it. I have also just bought the 2022 CB500x in that lovely green, it is superb but now I thinking Fwoar! that new TechMax looks the very bizzo.
I have a Honda 600 Silverwing maxiscoot. At 5'-6", I can't get both feet flat on the ground when stopped. The Tmax has similar size and performance but is about 55 lb. lighter.
@@colinmurphy4403 I have, yes, another 100 miles to go before fully run in. Very impressed so far and thinking of selling my S1000XR, not that they are comparable but the Techmax is a capable machine.
Great review. I live in Thailand and am looking to get a new bike to tour around Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia in. I have a Yamaha 155 to get around town in but it isn't a bike I want to put long mileage on. A little pricey but comfort and performance are worth paying for.
I've owned over 10 bikes. The TMAX is without doubt the best imo. Loved every minute until it was stolen... Apparently it is the highest sought after by drug dealers etc. Great bike
The suspension is far too harsh and the vibes through my feet were horrendous,it's basically a slow R6 with a fairing. I was glad to get back on my DX version.
I am on my second TMAX right now and have a 2021 model, sadly its going to be my last, both the machines i have bought have been the basic TMAX which i have then speced up with the Acropovic and lots of shiny goodies, i have no interest in cruise or electric screens etc, and for me they are adding unecesary weight and cost, to spec up this model would end up at about £15000, sorry Yamaha but thats to much for a just about adequate 47 bhp on a lard bucket 220kg, i'll either keep my 2021 or get something else, shame as the TMAX is by far the best looking machine in its class.
@@life_in_the_wild2573 love the TMAX thats why i'm on my 2nd its just i want a bike thats a bit more focused on scratching around rather than a tourer that has cruise, electric screens etc, i dont want to pay for lots of bits i dont want and cant see why Yamaha are not importing the base model that i'll then spend just as much on as the tech max if not more adding goodys to.
I would buy one in a second. I don't know who within Suzuki made the decision to NOT sell them in the US, but that someone needs to re-think that decision.
I prefer the previous dash, the new TFT is extremely difficult to see in bright sunlight, especially when wearing polarized sunglasses. I was hoping they wouldn't change the dash, then again, my budget only allows for a used 2017/18. Keyless is a security risk, in South Africa many cars are being stolen this way; criminals follow you, copy the signal and then program their own key. The key should deactivate itself when more than 1.5m from the bike.
Former TMax owner here. I like the look of the new model but this is too expensive and underpowered. We don't all want an A2 machine. A Forza or XADV 750 has 20% more power and torque for less money. Both are better for pillion work or touring, though they do have a chain. Really love the look of the yellow one but we can't have it in the UK. Shame. Sorry Yamaha, I'm really disappointed. I guess you'll sell as many as you budgeted for but this is a lost opportunity. I've bought a Forza.
You can ride any of them on an A2 license also. I'm getting a bike over the next so many months and my choice is between the new Yamaha Tmax tech or the Honda X ADV 750. Only doing my A2 license though. Mainly want it for cruising and leisurely days out with my partner. So I'm swaying towards the Tmax for extra storage, comfort & size. I'm hearing good things about both bikes tbh. I do love the look of the new Tmax though.
Hi i'm planning to buy a Tmax this year but i have a question what is the difference between a Tmax and a tech max? i really appreciate your reply thanks
I don't know shit about Motorcycles and I work at Yamaha, we make the engines for those Bikes. Just looking if it's a good motorcycle because we've been making T Max Engines alot since December.
They are an expensive machine to run, having to get the valves checked every 24k miles is not cheap, especially having to remove all the plastic first, and getting a good mechanic is a problem.
I love the tmax but £12,500 i want it to say ducati on it not yamaha and its about time they put 60hp in it not the current 47hp it would have so much more potential.
