2004 warrior. I just did the plug change today. Your video was helpful, but.. with the original air box the right front is a little more of a " special treat". First remove the black cylindrical part near the head tube area the are 2 screws, this gives wiggle room to get the plug wire off and back on. Using the original tool kit plug tool, angle it up and into the recess where the plug is, you can use a flash light if you need shining through the fins this will help to align the tool. You may have to push down to get the top of the plug into the rubber grommet of the tool once in 9m carefully unscrew the plug. Putting the new one back in might take a few tries but it will go back. I used a screw driver through the fins to align the spark plug, carefully tighten, don't cross thread or over tighten, position the spark plug wire, once again using a screws driver to help guide the boot over the plug put the cylindrical part back tighten the 2 screws and you are done. Hope this helps
Between the performance gain and the extra space created by removing the stock airbox, a BAK/VBAK kit is a definite upgrade that helps in multiple ways. Without that stock box, the plug change is so much easier. Thanks for the write up on doing it with the stock box still in place, I imagine it'll help many others out when they come to the same problem.
Dave SPADARO what is the black cylindrical part you are speaking of? I’m trying to change the plugs and the front right is kicking my ass. Please help!
2002 Warrior, only got it two months ago, previous owner was a collector and is getting up in age so he's selling off vehicles, only had 9K miles on it, the poor girl hasn't even been broken in yet... this bike is so clean I thought the year was a typo. I love this bike, it is second to my Triumph Rocket III, but that's not really a fair comparison 😂. Love your channel, and thank you for the videos you post!
I have a 2006 I've had it for a month now. I've been riding for 23 years and I still don't have a clue as to how this warrior slipped my radar for so long. I fell in love in the first mile on the test ride!
RS Warrior Bryan just has a propipe, was thinking about maybe doin a power commander. She already runs strong, gobs of torque, plan on keeping her forever
They're great bikes! I'll always have a Warrior in the garage, no matter what other bike sits next to it. A power commander and big air kit would be a good couple of mods for you. The bak will clean under that tank and make maintainance easier, plus adds power. I'll be doing a video over a diy vbak kit soon, so watch for that!
I’ve had my 2008 Warrior for 5 1/2 years. Bought it brand new in August of 2014. It’s my 1st Warrior. I’ll never get rid of her. Your videos are very helpful. I’m very mechanically inclined but it’s always helpful to see it being done so you know you’re doing it right the first time.
Thanks Robert! I appreciate the compliment. I am very much a person who learns from watching. Reading a write up can get the job done, but actually seeing the parts that am working on, locations, etc... I was always more confident tackling a job after seeing it done and I hope the videos are able to give others the confidence to do that as well. You were smarter than I was and realized that the Warrior was something you didn't want to lose. Took me selling the first to realize that one. Thanks again for watching and commenting brother. Stay safe out there!
Multi-tasking.....I have to remove my tank to install the new Force Winder intake. I bought this 04 Warrior 4 months ago and don't have any mechanical history.....so it would be foolish not to replace plugs at this time....12,900 MI. Your videos are very helpful and are very much appreciated.
03 warrior first and last! dream machine! going on my first 5000mile trip next summer trough Europe and decided to change plugs for the trip! so thx for this video👌
No problem! Thanks for watching and commenting. Glad that the video was able to help. Sounds like you've got an awesome trip planned, wish I was along for that ride! Be sure to get some good video and pics to post up on here or Facebook, would enjoy seeing some of the sites for come across. Thanks again for watching and commenting. Stay safe and have a gold trip brother!
Welcome to the family! If you haven't joined the forum and Facebook groups, do so. Tons of knowledge on these bikes. Thanks for watching and commenting. Stay safe!
Hi all, I have a 2009 Silver with BAK and VH big shots w/FuelPak. Bought in 2020 with 6500 miles. My first bike if this type. I have a 2016 Triumph Bonneville T120 and 2011 Yamaha Raider. I'm going to change both oils and now the plugs after seeing this video. Thank you for posting the video !
2002 warrior. Ais block off, cobra swept, churchkey BAK, PC5, dyno tune. This is the first warrior I had I got it completely stock in March of this year and I’ve already done the following upgrades
Sounds like you've been putting in some work! Hope the upgrades were able to give you some good numbers on the dyno. It's a did ease once you start though. Always will be looking for the next upgrade. Happy tuning brother, stay safe out there!
@@markbeck3115 I gave 3K for her. She's got a dent in the tank and front fender but runs awesome! I live a 1/2 mile down a gravel road so I'm not too concerned about a few dents and dings.
Great video. Very helpful. 05 Midnight Warrior, 6400 miles, just picked it up a week ago. This is my second Warrior and will most likely stay in the family for a very long time.
Thanks for watching! Do you still own the first one, or did you make the same mistake as me with my first and get rid of it? Sounds like you got a great bike this time around though. Those midnight are good looking bikes, and that one is barely broken in with those low miles. Thanks again, hope the video was able to help. Stay safe brother!
Just bought my 2002 warrior last week, it seats next to my 2012 Yamaha vstar 950. Love both my bikes and they arey forever bikes. Your info on the warrior is exactly what I need. Thank you for sharing info, keep up the great work.
Got my warrior about a month ago, and doing my plugs here soon. I won’t lie, she’s got higher mileage, 38,000 to be exact, but she still rides great with no issues. Video was very helpful!
I love all the informational video on the RS warrior. I just bought one payed a little more than I should have, but it runs. It's been neglected for 30k miles and I'm trying to get her back into shape so these videos really help!
Hi Bryan! Love your videos! I'm from Houston, Texas. Just bought my first Warrior a week ago. A 2007 bone stock Warrior except for the Cobra pipes. 8,000 miles on the clock. Loving it so far!
I had changed mine with spark plug socket. The front spark plug was difficult to removed but got it out. It would be easier with their spark plug removal tool. Great video. Keep it up.
My warrior 2003 , with 53000 miles ! Yes 53 000 and Still going strong like new ! With no biger problems . I love this bike ! Will never sell it , it will stay with me , and it is going to serve me to the end of my life or hers😂
Definitely great bikes. If you maintain them, they usually won't leave you stranded. Thanks for watching and sharing, hope mine gets to that point with no major problems as well. I will definitely have it that long, so only time will tell. Thanks again, stay safe!
Hey Mike, welcome to the Warrior family! I came from sport bikes as well. My first Warrior was a trade for my gsxr. I had ridden sport bikes all my life up until that Warrior. I'll have another one soon, just because nothing better than seeing a Warrior and sport bike sitting in the garage. I like options. Hope that good weather rolls arojnf fast and you get to break that bike out again. Thanks for watching and commenting. Keep riding and stay safe!
That's awesome! Always glad to help convert another brother to a Warrior! I appreciate you watching and subscribing as well. Hope you got to get some rides in before it got too cold your way. Nothing like getting a bike late in the season and having to watch it all winter.
Thank you for this video. This is my project for this weekend. I have a 2003 Roadstar warrior. I’ve had for about 5 years. That’s my forever warrior also.
Both of mine have been 02's, but would love to have one that was newer than about 04. I love the one up seats that they have and if it didn't take putting more holes in my bike, I'd love to have one. When I had my first one, my buddy told me I'd regret getting rid of it, and he was right. I didn't last a year without one before I had to get another. Last I heard, that same friend was selling his brand new Harley Breakout to get back onto a warrior. Guess he didn't take his own advice either. Thanks again for commenting and watching the video, I really appreciate it. Hope it was able to help out a little. Stay safe!
Your videos are perfect for me i just got a 2006 yamaha midnight warrior 1670 cc love it i was confused when i seen my gas tank hookups till ur gastank video thanks for that.
Awesome! Glad that it was able to help out. The dry breaks can be pretty tricky of you've never seen one. Be sure to watch for the left side one, they can crack and leak over time. Nothing you have to worry about, just a point to keep an eye on when pulling the tank to be sure all looks good. Thanks for watching, stay safe out there!
Thanks for the video . I took my gas tank off because my neutral light is always on(looking for pinched wire) and noticed the stock air filter was dirty as hell. I am still waiting on the 2 stock filters and ordered plugs also since the tank was removed. I bought my 2006 warrior with 18k miles about a month ago I have had lots of bikes but this one’s really fun to ride I think I’ll keep it forever also. Thanks, Brian in Texas
Hey Brian, thanks for watching and commenting! Welcome to the Warrior family also. If you haven't yet, join the forum and Facebook groups. Tons of good people and info in those places. Warriors are definitely bikes that will put a smile on your face. I still get that little grin when I start it up and take off. I like your way of thinking and getting all that stuff done at once while you've got it apart and are already in there. Hope you were lucky enough to have the factory tool kit with it, it definitely helps with the plugs. I'm sure a universal joint and extensions would work fine, but that socket makes the job a lot easier.. Were you able to figure out the original problem with the nuetral light staying on? Thanks again! I hope some of my videos have been able to help out.
Here is a link to one on ebay. They're a little more than I thought, but this one comes from partzilla and seems to be about fifteen dollars less than all the others. Hope this helps you locate it and track it down. Keep me posted. rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?icep_id=114&ipn=icep&toolid=20004&campid=5338428498&mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fitm%2FYamaha-5PX-81950-00-00-RELAY-ASSY%2F283318472758%3Fepid%3D1433685955%26hash%3Ditem41f718d036%3Ag%3AjhcAAOSw7mlZ5Mfd
2002 Warrior, traded my '96 Vmax for it four months ago. Younger brother owns a large moto service shop in central FL so he had it there the first month I owned it. R1 forks and front fender Jardine full system straight cut drag pipes Power Commander V Barons Stealth BAK Barons 930 lb spring Barons lowering link TT bars with Kuryakyn Kinetic grips
Hey, thanks for the comment, and welcome to the Warrior family! Sounds like you already got into it quite a bit. Have any more mods planned in the near future? Those Vmax's were beasts! Another guy who rides a Warrior in Michigan just recently acquired his by trading his vmax for it as well. How does the warrior handle compared to the vmax? I'd say that I hope winter hasn't been too bad, but being in Florida, I'd imagine you're still getting to ride. Life goals to ride year round. Thanks again for watching the video and commenting!
Even when I lived in NC, I would still ride year round. Being back in my home state of Florida though is nice, winter riding isn't too bad, it's the summers that can actually be unbearable with the heat and humidity. I'll likely keep this bike for a while. Yes, the Vmaxes are a beast of a bike, not the most comfortable on long rides, but a monster in a straight line (factory boosted 145hp V4). The Warrior has it beat in handling, and comfort. That was my main reason for trading, I wanted something more comfortable for the wife and I to enjoy, and pushing 50 years old, I needed to slow down just a little. I've always liked the Warrior styling and finally found one that I was able to trade for. Thanks for your great videos, they were a big part of my research when looking for my Warrior!
Florida weather reminds me a lot of Missouri in the summer. Hot and humid, but Missouri doesn't have the daily rains that seem to hit Florida. I used to ride year round, but now I don't break it out if it's below fifty, except in the spring when I just can't take it any more. That's awesome that my videos were able to help you out when looking at bikes! I love the looks of the Warrior. It always seems funny that a bike that's almost twenty years old still turns heads like it was brand new. That's not even mentioning the torque and handling of the bike. They were great bikes and I would love to see Yamaha revisit them again in the future.
Love your videos!!! I got mine 2 years ago, since then 4 of my buddies bought warriors... these r hard not to love... thanks for your videos. Ride safe
That's awesome! No greater testament to how good a bike is than when people see yours and have to have one for themselves. Glad that the videos are getting watched and helping out. Hopefully I am back before too long making more. Thanks for watching and commenting. Stay safe out there brother!
No problem! Hope that helps. Also check for any kind of leaks around injectors, or lines. When you pull the plugs be sure to check them as well to see if you're needing to adjust the air fuel ratio. Any modifications? Using a tuner if so? Just a few other ideas to check while you're looking into the gas milage. Hope you get it figured out. Thanks for watching and commenting. Stay safe!
Ashland, KY 02 warrior, and its my forever bike, daily rider is a harley now, but i actually cross threaded my front left cylinder, i have to taper the threads of every new plug to get it started now
Ouch! That's always one of my biggest fears when doing plugs. The Warrior sure didn't make it easy either. Almost like they wanted you to cross thread them. That fuel line trick is pretty slick though. Thanks again, stay safe out there!
Love your videos!!! I got mine 2 years ago, since then 4 of my buddies bought warriors... these r hard not to love... thanks for your videos. Rode safe
Thanks for watching the video and commenting! There seems to be a trend here. Warrior owners seem to really love the bikes. I was just replying to another comment and saying that I would love to see Yamaha revisit them again in the future. They were a bike that was way ahead of their time. My bike is over fifteen years old and still turns head like a new bike.
Besides my 2002 Warrior I ride a 2009 C109RT, 1994 Katana 750, 1986 Honda VF1000R, 1982 Honda CM450C, 1975 CB360T, 70 & 71 Sl350s’ Most purchased new or 1 owner. But, my Warrior is my best overall, great around town but sized right for long rides. Twice to Sturgis.
Love it! You're all over the place. How do you like that 109? Pretty much the same motor and transmission and the m109, right? Only real difference in the styling? Another cruiser I'd love to have sitting in my garage along with an VTX 1800 and V-Rod. Plus I'd have to throw in some sport bikes for good measure. 🤣
Nice! That bike was just broken in when you got it. Hopefully you can put another 60 thousand on it without any problems. These bikes are beats. Tons of fun, and usually hassle free as long as you keep them up. Been thinking about getting another one myself, but can't decide if I want another sport bike instead. Thanks for sharing Dan, stay safe this season!
hllo Bryan recently purchased 2003 rs warrior. needs a little work. has stage 2 cam and injectors/ big air kit/ predator ecu. 240 back tire/ air ride suspension. just rebuilt thr rear master cylinder . currently waiting on a vbelt from chaparral Yamaha in san Bernardino . this bike has 16" ape hangers custom paint job and roadking front fender.. cant wait to roll on it. I come from a streetbike and Harley sportster bg. ridin dirtbikes for years too many injuries. love the videos .
I had an 2002 warrior I bought in 2004 as a left over with 80 miles on it had it until 2008 when I purchased a Harley. Davidson wide glide and sold my warrior had wide glide up to 2012 and then sold that but I wanted A other warrior and found a 2009 for sale so I bought that in 2014 and now it's my forever warrior also lol love the videos that I'd man
Awesome! Had a friend get me into my first Warrior. Last time I talked to him, he was trying to sell his brand new breakout to get back onto a Warrior. There's just something about these bikes that make you smile when you ride them. Thanks for watching and commenting, Steven. Stay safe brother!
Actually the M109 and C109 are different internally. However, the C109 is powerful and has plenty of torque. The challenge is she weighs 900lbs. Mine has various modifications, GMan exhaust, self calibrating fuel system and aftermarket air intakes. My fat girl “moves” and sound great. More important like the Warrior it leaves Harleys behind...lol The bikes are for the most different ridding “Styles”. The 94, 86 & 82 are original and very nice. The 75, 70 & 71 are restoration projects. These were the bikes I enjoyed in my youth. Almost forgot to mention, ur picks of the VTX and VROD is great . Those were the other bikes I considered in 2002. Just couldn’t justify paying a Harley price. Plus it is a Porche engine.
Haha! Yeah, I can't bring myself to pay the price for an oil spot in my driveway either. The euro V Rods look awesome though, and if I build another muscle cruiser, I think I'll try and find one anyways.
Hi Bryan, Love your video's, they are super helpful and well put together, thank you for taking the time to put the info together and sharing it! I'm from Ithaca, NY and have had my Warrior for 8years, before that I had a couple R6's. After 8years I'm finally starting to get to know my ride and am finally starting to work on some mods!
Awesome! Glad that the videos are able to help out! I'm an old sport bike guy myself, and may be one again in the future...... Just gotta talk my wife into letting me buy another bike. 🤔 thanks for watching the videos. Hope it's warmed up enough up there to get some good rides in, and hope this riding season is a long one for you!
Hi Bryan!! Thanks for all the videos! They’re super helpful. I’m on bike 2, first was an ‘07 I had years ago and sold it. Now I’m on an ‘09 and plan on keeping it for a long time while adding other bikes to the stable.
Awesome! I think I've only seen one other Warrior pulling a trailer, if that wasn't yours. These bikes are definitely awesome. Thanks for commenting, stay safe out there brother!
Owned my warrior since 2015 and it's the most reliable bike I've ever owned. Of course my other two were an 88 Harley and a rat rodded out Yamaha xj750 maxim. Lol
Sweet! I was just thinking about this the other day! The warrior I have I’ve had since about June or July, I traded my wrx for it. It’s my first bike. Not necessarily the right one for a new rider, but, I mean, I got a hell of a deal.
Hey Levi, thanks for watching! My first Warrior was gotten on a trade as well. I traded off my 05 gsxr for it. It was also my first cruiser bike. I've tried to go back to sport a couple times, but have finally decided that even they can't give me the smile that my Warrior does. Eventually I will be getting another sport bike, just for go fast reasons, but I'll always have my warrior. Thanks again for commenting and letting me know what years yours was and how long you've owned it. Keep riding and stay safe!
Life of Bryan oh yeah, I didn’t say what year it was, it’s an 07 my bad! Only 12k miles, only had the main pulley bolt, come loose. So other than that, I put 1500 miles on it, and I absolutely love it!
That main pulley bolt is a known problem. I believe the manual states that the bolt is supposed to be tightened to something like 60 foot lbs, where as it is actually closer to 110-120. Hope this spring rolls around and you can get a lot more miles in on that bike. Welcome to the Warrior family by the way!
That’s what I read, somewhere, seems good now, just had a shop do it, raped me for prices. After that I’m learning how to do everything on my bike haha
Nice! Definitely worth learning how to do things yourself on it. The forum is a great place for information, and you have a great group of guys in the Facebook groups that are always willing to help with questions. If you haven't joined them yet, I'd suggest doing so.
2004 Warrior, bought in 2006 with maybe 12k miles on it. Plan on keeping it forever. Do you use any sort of anti-seize on the plug threads when you put them back in?
Definitely use some anti sieze. I didn't shoe it on the video, but always a good idea. Especially when putting in iridium which won't be replaced as often. Thanks for watching and commenting! Stay safe out there brother!
Awesome! All is good this way. Glad to see the Warrior still getting some love when you've got yourself another toy to play around with that looks like a lot of fun as well. Hope you and yours are staying safe and healthy brother.
Also. Bryan I looked in to the second link on the list of spark plugs you provided and it says that "this product does not feet my warrior" but everything else I look up does fit or is comparable. Any advice?
Love the video. Will be doing my 2008 in a couple of weeks. Got another question. I am getting a bit old and was thinking of putting small risers on handlebars. Can you recommend any and would I need to do cables as well ?
Good afternoon brother! Today I decided to change my spark plugs. As I began to thread the first one in, it gave some resistance. I didn't want to damage the plug by forsing it in, so I took it out. I then tried to thread it again and it wouldn't thread easily. The spark plugs I purchased are DPR7EIX-9 and stock NO. 7803. These are supposed to fit my Warrior, but one never knows. Could it be that I needed to accommodate the plug better?
If you haven't yet, you'll fall in love. These bikes are awesome and have a cult following. Join the forum if you haven't, tons of info on there for these bikes.
I have a 07' and the plugs i just pulled out which I'm sure are the factory DPR 7EA 9. Replace with what you recommend or same i just pulled out? Basically stock other than pipes and an FI2000
I dig your channel, very informative. From Brooklyn, NY & I own a Honda VTX1800C, CBR1000RR & Yamaha Warrior that I picked up a month ago. I really dig the Yamaha so I’m selling my VTX. One question, can’t seem to find the proper copper plugs for the Yamaha to complete my tune up, any advice? By the way I have K&N filter and Cobra exhaust plus power commander. Did 4qts of Amsoil 20w-50 & K&N filter. 18K/mi on her need those plugs. Thanks for helping us all with diy info, stay safe & keep up the good work
Awesome Awesome video! Thank you!..how did you clean the filters?. 08 Midnight Warrior 4,000 miles, had it for a year and a half. I bought a 2014 Harley FLS softail slim 4 months ago and never once thought about trading in or selling my Warrior! The Warrior is my forever bike!
Johnny!! My question is do you walk outside, look at them both and still have a hard time deciding which one to ride? At least you learned early that the Warrior wasn't one that you wanted to get rid of. I haven't cleaned the filters yet. I wasn't going to make a video over doing them, but maybe I will. Couldn't hurt anyways. Thanks for the idea! Stay safe out there, and hope the weather is letting you ride this winter! As always, thanks for watching!
@@RSWarriorBryan i always decided which one i am going to ride before i leave the house. I dress differently when i ride the Harley opposed to the Warrior. Usually i switch every 2 days, im going to by another bike soon..my goal is to have at least 5 "Real bikes" and ride a different one everyday. Just having one decent bike is a luxury.
Hell yeah! That's awesome! I'd love to be able to walk outside and see five different bikes sitting in the garage. I had my father's Warrior in the garage with mine for a few weeks when he was in vacation lasyvuear and I was working on it. It was a nice feeling walking out there and seeing two Warriors in the garage, couldn't imagine five awesome bikes out there. I'd need a separate garage for just the bikes! What's the next one you plan to get?
@@RSWarriorBryan i want a Harley Davidson FXSB soft tail Breakout, and maybe a Vrod or a HD- FXDR..i paid $15,000 for my 2014. Fls soft tail slim.. Harley's give you a decent return on your money if you sell it.
The guy who actually got me to buy my first Warrior, had a breakout. Last I heard he was trying to get out from it to get into another Warrior. They're Damn nice though. I just can't bring myself to pay that much money for one. I paid two thousand for my bike. Can't bring myself to pay that much for something when I know I can pay less and still love it. Definitely let me know and be sure to post videos of them when you get them.
Hey, thanks for watching and commenting! The Warrior was my first real cruiser too. I grew up on sport bikes though and every time I get rid of one, I always say I'm too old and am done. Every time I hear one start up or ride by, I change my mind. 🤣🤣 I will definitely always have a Warrior, or possibly two, but I think a new gsxr would look pretty good sitting next to them. Hahaha thanks again bud! Stay safe out there!
Hi Bryan I’ve had my 02 warrior for about a year now in the middle of doing a few mods at the moment spike filter on the right and a K&N panel filter for the air box also just fitted a cobra black fi2000’ question for you my warrior is an Californian import and has one them emission box’s attached to the lower left of the frame i wana take it off any ideas?
It's not necessary at all. I believe there are a few threads in the forum that actually tell how to remove, but I found this one that seems to say it's actually pretty easy to do. Just need a longer vent hose, I believe. Hope it helps! www.rswarrior.com/threads/california-emission-removal.102808/
Bryan I was checking the plug on the right front ( the hardest one to do ) and the cable came right ofd of the boot. It was green and corroded. How do I change spark plug cables ?
Hey, thanks for watching. Depends on what you're wanting to do with it. If you don't mind changing the plugs, copper is going to be your best conductor and work the best, but not last as long as a platinum or iridium. Iridium isn't the greatest conductor, but will last longer and keep you from having to change the plugs as often. Hope that helps! Thanks again!
5mths and this is my first warrior I'm in love with this beast 😍 but I need to find a rear caliper and on a budget 😞 was wondering if u could point me in the right direction
Can you help me? I have had this warrior for about 5 months and have almost got it all together except I need to know the length of the two collars that are on the bolts just behind the front drive pulley my bike is missing them and Yamaha does not make them anymore. If I had the length I could make my own
Haha. You know, that seems to be the general consensus. I wish I hadn't been so stupid about mine the first time around. I thought that I wanted to ride sport bikes again though, forgetting I was too old for all that anymore. Thanks for watching Rob! Hope you're getting some good rides in this winter. Stay safe brother!
@@RSWarriorBryan thank you Please keep up with your videos they are very helpful you have already helped me more then you could know 👍👍👍 Ride on brother
That tool is perfect for the job. Definitely makes it easier to get it there and get them out. Just did a video over removing that air box and replacing with a DIY big air kit. If you haven't seen it, that's another mod that makes plug changes easier.
Looking on Amazon? I had the same exact problem and was worried when I ordered mine. Was looking at Power Commanders the other day on Amazon and the one for the Warrior said it didn't fit my vehicle, even though the title said for Yamaha Warrior. As long as you're getting the dpr7eix-9 for iridium, or I believe dpr7ea-9 for standard. Hope that helps, and thanks for watching!
@RS Warrior Bryan ... Is there any way you can measure that spark plug tool for me I think I'm going to try to have a friend weld a short pipe to a spark plug socket with a nut on top ...everyone on eBay wants 60 bucks for that kit ...it's either that or snap-on truck 😬😬😬
No problem! Thanks for watching and commenting brother! As long as they get watched and are able to help some people save money and work on their bikes themselves, they're doing all that I can ask for.
Awesome! Thanks for watching Josh! Hope that video was able to walk you through changing those plugs out. One thing is to always blow out around them before pulling the plug, or little pebbles could fall into the cylinder. Hopefully had a couple other tricks in the videos for you as well. Thanks again, stay safe!
Hey Rob, thanks for watching! The plug number should be the same for all years of the Warrior. Only difference is if you want to run a cooler plug. The numbers are just a breakdown of the electrode, shell, heat range, gap, etc... Should all be the exact same from 02-09. Hope that answers your question, and that the video was able to help out. Any other questions, feel free to get back with me. Thanks again! Stay safe!
@@RSWarriorBryan thank you Bryan for answering my question on the spark plugs. I do have a few questions lol sorry about that 1. What spark wire you recommend for the warrior 2. Have you done anything on the fork tubes seals. Looking to get mine done So need some help on that topic Thanks again brother 👍
No problem! For the wires, it depends. Have or upgraded the coils or relocated them? Would you prefer certain colors? Magnecore wires are really good, but you could go with something like Taylor and get them in many different colors. You could even get a cheap car set from your local store for a v8 and have a back up set if you wanted. Main things to watch for are the boot angle and wire size. May want to go with a straight boot and I believe that 8mm is the max size you can use. Also, you'll want to keep the plug terminal ends because most boots will still need them screwed on. For the fork seals, I actually haven't done them yet. I've been lucky enough to have mine still holding up. Was telling a guy just the other day that of they last this year, I'll probably change them to be safe and get the video in the library. Here is an awesome write up from the forum with pics that will walk you through it. www.rswarrior.com/forums/21-how-tos-general-maintenance-tips/271554-fork-seal-change.html Hope that helps out, wish I had a video already to direct you to instead!
All these plugs supposed to be better than in and NGK that comes in the Warrior because I bought mine brand new in 07 watched it be put together and no plans are getting rid of it I've done a lot of modification work I told my HD to get this bike
Do you have any experience with silver plugs? I know that silver is a lot better than iridium at conducting electricity, but it has a lowering melting point and not sure how it would withstand to combustion and wear. I have used iridium in just about every bike I've owned for the past ten years and sometimes habits are hard to break. I might need to look into silver next time. Thanks for the advice and for watching the video and commenting. Hope you're getting some good rides in this winter! Keep riding and stay safe!
Used them forever as well. They're a great plug, so I've never even really looked into doing something else. I'm not against researching the silver ones though and seeing if they are worth switching to. Thanks for watching the video and commenting, Kalan!
Yep. Same number, just not the ix on the end. The ix is the notation for the fine wire iridium, and the a is special design. Both will work perfectly fine in the Warrior.
You'll fall in love of you haven't already! Great bikes and the people who ride them are pretty awesome too! Join the forum and Facebook groups of you haven't yet. Tons of info for you to fix and work on your bike.
I bought my 2005 Midnight Warrior in 2012. Found it on www.rswarrior.com and knew this is the one I wanted. I flew from Sioux Falls, SD to Virginia Beach, bought it from a forum member and rode it back - almost 1500 miles in 3 days. Here's a video of a rain storm I got caught in on the second day. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OFYxNim8e6E.html It's been my commuter bike this whole time. Riding season is short in South Dakota so I ride whenever the temp is ~30° F and above. I work in a cooler/freezer warehouse so I'm dressed for the cold anyway. In 2015, I started drag racing it at age 58. I finally got a first place this season (2020) and finished 3rd in points. Here's a video of that win (I'm in the right lane every race, wearing the American flag jacket). ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-br4uHmdkYLE.html I also own a 2007 Honda VTX 1800 but only because I was in the right place at the right time. Got it for super cheap and for once, actually had the money to do it. I was going to flip it but decided to keep it - for now. I like the Honda ok but the Warrior is funner to ride. I have no plans of ever selling the Warrior. In fact, if I find another Warrior that really catches my eye, I'll sell the VTX in a heartbeat.
