Thanks to Black Hills Powersports and Nate giving up his time to help me with these latest videos. I'll be in North Carolina this week to test the X2 1000 on some nice tight/technical East Coast trails.

This is going to be an interesting machine. I look forward to people putting it to the test on some East coast trails. Looks like it will be perfect for Hatfield. I'll still be keeping my RMAX, but man... I'd consider this for a 2nd machine...

One obscure thing that stands out to me is all the extra heat shielding over the final drive. I had to fabricate my own on the X4 to protect my final seals and inner CVs from exhaust pipe heat.

Ya got me thinking, thanks for showing this. I think it sounds quieter because you have a helmet on, and there is no windshield to bounce the sound back to you. Same mill, same tranny, I cant see how it would be any quieter RICK EVANS

I thought the same thing before actually riding in it. Of course I welcome you to wait until others have their hands on one to confirm/deny my claims. The X2 1000 does have heavier clutch weights than the RMAX2 as well as being 187 lbs lighter.

It's a ROHVA standard for lateral stability that all SxS go through for safety reasons.

I wonder how the sound compares to a Rmax2. You’re used to a 4 which has the exhaust and transmission under the passenger cabin. In the Rmax2, and the X2 100, the mechanicals seem like they’d be a little more remote. Riding the 2 machines back to back may be interesting. Of course, you may have done that.

Do you know what the tilt table angle for the RMAX2 1000 is? I bought a new 2022 last march but there was no tilt table angle tag on it like the ones shown in the video.

I am curious how Yamaha got the X2 quieter than the RMAX. Any ideas? Noise level was a concern for me.

Well the X2 1000 is using heavier RMAX4 clutch weights than the lighter RMAX2 clutch weights. It's also 174 lbs lighter. Now with the 30" RMAX2 tires vs the 28" X2 1000 tires you would think the larger tires would reduce RPMs in the RMAX's favor, but it's possible the smaller tires combined with the lighter vehicle weight are allowing the CVT to shift out faster for reduced RPMs in the X2 1000.

Romeo is the driver seat/cab size/floorboard same for both machines? It looks like the 3" difference in length is in cab to me

As far as I know, the cab dimensions of the X2 850/1000 and RMAX2 should be the same. The wheels are still 4/110. I think 30's will fit but don't hold me to that. Certainly 29's should. I think they stuck with 28's to keep the nimbleness factor. Remember this is being touted as a tight trail machine, and while larger tires give you more clearance, they negatively affect nimbleness.

And also why 28's? Would 29s or 30s fit? Does this go back to the 4/110 wheel bolt pattern?

Sorry I didn't respond to this sooner. It does have the 4/110 pattern and I suspect 29's will fit but not certain about 30's. 28's keep it nimble and larger tires obviously give more ground clearance, they affect turning radius negatively.
