I had a 1st gen boxeye fazer 6 and it was an absolutely incredible bike as an all rounder. 60L top box, comfy as hell, 100bhp, 60mpg, dirt cheap insurance and every single MOT tester commented on how nice it sounded with the Micron can. Sold it at 65k miles after encountering the motor's major issue (only on the early ones) - paper mache gearbox. I stripped and replaced gears twice in the 38k I did on that thing but man it was lush to own aside from that
I myself have ridden an xj6 and I really did like the bike, in fact I was going to buy one but at the time I had too many bikes. It’s a great all rounder bike that’s what makes it fun!
Interesting you said it wasn’t well received when it came out, having ridden for 50 years and owning WAY too many motorcycles, it seem the ones I enjoyed the most were the ones that didn’t get great reviews when they were released 🤔!? They just turned out to be really good motorcycles 😉👍.
I use a previous model diversion xj600n 1999, 65k and still going strong as a workhorse. Well built and a simple machine, all the fixes over the years have cost relatively little.
Congratulations to you and divvy. I'm only on 14k so plenty of life left. I miss the insane acceleration of my 2 previous hornets but love how this can drive slow very easily ❤
Ive had an XJ6 for 6 months as my 1st big bike and spicy definitely influenced my choice. Im only 5'6" so its perfect high wise. Such a fun, comfortable, easy bike to ride. As spicy has mentioned previously, it gets HOT, the stock exhaust is embarrassing, wind screen is useless and it's not great 2 up. Im keeping it for another 6 months and then Ill decide if im going to spend money on a new screen and exhaust or trade it for a tiger 800. Time will tell but im very happy with it as a 1st big bike.
Wow 60k on Divi 👏 I'm glad you managed to get it on camera Spicy. I've never ridden an XJ6 but I did have the old Fazer fz6 steel frame big heavy thing detuned r6 motor poor suspension but excellent excellent fun. I scraped pegs everywhere on it and absolutely loved the bike of course it was carburetted not fuel injection which is a plus with the XJ6. I'd say in general Yamaha knows how to make a good bike that's reliable and fun.
Looking at one 2011 white like yours I am 50 yrs old not ridden for 5 yrs fella want £2850 11000 miles clean but coming from ninja 636 worried I won't like it what do u think after owning one for so long spice.
My Xj6. Is white with a full faring. It is really stable and the engine is great. Comply and great wind protection with a puig screen. However it is heavy and there is very little feel to the front wheel. My confidence in leaning it over seems to be getting worse. A while ago you did some work on the forks as you said yours had gone off. Other RU-vidrs seem to be able to scrape the pegs . I am far from that. Please furnish me with your evangelical wisdom.
All mine needed was a good service and fork oil change ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AqBF5VMIJEU.htmlsi=qcSnHYfu-znDksTj As for scraping pegs, they must have much better roads there than here lol
i sold my 2013 FZ6R with only 13,000 miles, traded for a 2013 speed triple 1050R, but i still miss my FZ every single day, it was such a fantastic bike, im looking to hopefully find it again since its been 7 years since i saw it last, or buy another one similar soon. for reference i have a '22 speed triple 1200RS, a '19 S1000R, a '79 honda CBX 1050, a '17 Z650, and a '17 Z125 pro. even with that fleet of incredible bikes i still want to own another FZ6R.
