That first melon you tasted WAS a cantaloupe. It may have been an Indian variety, but nevertheless, it's a cantaloupe. You can tell by the outer skin and the inner seed pack/pod. The Canary melon is like the Honeydew melon we in the U.S. are most familiar with. Sorry that that first particular Yamato cream watermelon was a disappointment. Glad the second one was more to your liking. You two are a riot together. Mr. H enjoying the strawberry watermelon so much that he realized he wasn't looking up into the camera and then looking up, smiling/laughing and waving and saying "how y'all doing?" Then Mrs. H grabbing for the knife while Mr. H was cutting the first Yamato cream and almost cutting herself. Mrs. H stepping on Mr. H's toe (or so he said) and sending him into conniptions. Farming is a process. You live and you learn.

That Strawberry Watermelon HAD YOU! Love it! Now I want to grow them, too! I wonder if that first Yamato Cream didn't have all that extra water from when it had split and maybe it didn't absorb that water while it was growing or something. If it was me, going forward, the ones that split like that would be cut off the vine to allow the plant to concentrate on whatever other fruits are on it rather than risk another kind of wasted effort (even though I'm sure the chickens wil very much enjoy it). Love y'all's videos and hope Mr. H's toe & foot feels better real soon!

Loved watching your taste tests on the melons. I felt for you when you cut open the first Yamato cream melon. Our son bought a watermelon at Walmart and when he cut it open it looked like your melon. It was just all water and mush.

💡😃! Homestead Hearts❤❤ just make juice with that round golden 'mushy' melons. To your blender add melon chunks, juice and seeds with just enough liquid from the melon for the blender to combine everything. Blend well until smoothie-like-texture. Add lemon/lime juice and sugar to taste. You can stop here and freeze in popsicle/other type containers. Or, put all the pulp in a strainer to extract all the juice and store in the fridge. You may also want to can it especially since it looks like those mushy melons will be rendering tons of juice. Lastly, make a concentrate with the juice and sugar and add to a glass half filled with water/sparkling water and ice 😋

In my little kid voice, "I don't like you no more", sooo jealous.😉 I've been trying to grow Yamato for two years because of you. No luck yet, but next year I'm trying a different location and different way. This 103-105⁰ weather in S.TX is killing me. Lol old lady vibes. 😢😉🤗

I tried using coins and water in baggies and hanging them every 10 feet around the porch. It really worked on keeping the flies away.
