A quick reminder that all of Gokus friends are once in a generation fighting prodigies and this is completely overshadowed by how far he outstrips them later in the series.
@@davidgunn7058 Arguably the most normal of normal of Goku's friend circle is Mr. Satan and he's arguably a prodigy as well. Not to the level of Krillin or Tien but he's still the world champion. For normal human standards, he's genuinely a very good martial artist.
It’s so heartwarming to see the Kamehameha had the manners to wait for Tien to deflect it. You don’t see many special moves having that sense of decency nowadays.
It even slowed down, stopped moving entirely, moved BACKWARDS and everything. Such a shame to see modern Kamehameha’s not following in this one’s example
LastExit1988 I dislije the hate yamcha get but this one is Original and i did hate every dbz ep to garlic jr(except for some sad moments from sayian saga). All that waiting gave me mountain dew on my ass but namek saga had some funny moments.
Original DB: martial arts and techniques that made sense and/or were powerful but damaged the user DBS: every single technique aside from Kamehameha is powerful enough to destroy planets, characters move at light speed and basically if you aren't a demigod you don't have the slightest chance Original Naruto: technique, deception and stealth could turn a mediocre ninja into a skilled assassin: actual ninjutsu. Chakra related techniques weren't flashy and needed a lot of preparation to be executed correctly and should not be abused if you don't wanted to be at the mercy of your opponent. Knives, shuriken and poison were the most dangerous things if you weren't careful. Boruto: natural disasters are just jokes compared to these jutsus, characters could destroy entire villages with a single hand movement and even when they are shot with literally magical bullets, they are still unfazed by those. This happens in every show that goes on way longer than what it should.
Years later at the youth martial arts tournament. Goten: “my brother taught me this one. Kahmehameha!” Roshi: my greatest technique is literally child’s play.
@@xinderx Yeah, but when Goku did it for the first time, Roshi could conceivably say, "this child with a tail is special - a prodigy that comes along only once every few generations. Nobody else can do what he did without the decades of training I've had." He could no longer claim that after Krillin and Yamcha prove able to perform it as well. Now it's undeniable that the Kamehameha is not that difficult to learn, and it took Roshi decades to do it because he is a slacker. Goten treating it as a neat trick to show his friend during playtime just adds insult to injury.
Egzekiel Krillin is a kid who is less skilled than yamcha this time around yamcha knows a lot about ki stuff and is good at it krillin is just a kid who probably doesn't know much about ki and how to handle it and krillin pulled it off and since yamcha was always humiliated krillin thought that yamcha's weak making krillin think he can do it too
i think krillin knew more about ki than yamcha at the time krillin trained with roshi before yamcha he also went to the orin school while yamcha trained in the desert for the most part, dont get me wrong yamcha clearly has good knoledge and control over ki, given his signature moves Wolf fanged fist and Spirit ball in the manga krilliuns line was moreso that he wasnt sure if he COULD pull it off, but the fact that krillins friend and fellow turtle hermit student yamcha could pull of such an intense move despite it being hard to master gave krillin at least a little hope that he could pull it off too, think of it like your best friend learning how to juggle even though its difficult, but your friend being able to pull it off might give you motivation to try as well krillin wants to prove hes on their level too so he has to at least try i doubt krillin was calling yamcha weak considering how shocked and nervous he was watching yamcha fight tien
@Lord Aizen go to hell U may not remember me but I was ur subscriber since 2018 and you banned from ur channel last month for no reason at all. Show ur early subscribers some respect idiot and it may not make a impact but u did lose a subscriber that day
People gotta put respect on Yamcha. He's not worthless like people believe it's just that, unfortunately, he's a normal, hardworking guy in a world filled with super beings...
@@SupComRaiden2 i mean, i can't really blame him for that, even if he did train hard, he's still way too far behind for him to keep up with Goku or Vegeta, they can't beat an antagonist, then nobody will, even so, at that point yamcha was still much stronger than the average human, so even then he could still have bragging rights
Tien and Chiaotzu under Master Shen of Crane School were all villains and the rival of Master Roshi's school the Turtle Hermit School. Master Shen's younger brother is Mercenary Tao the assassin hired by the Red Ribbon Army to kill Goku but eventually destroyed by Goku. Being defeated, Dr. Gero forms a very strong feeling of hatred for Goku. He even kidnapped 2 earthling, Lapis and Lazuli and added cybernetics on them making them Android 17 and 18.. But before that he created Android 16 first which is the exact image of Dr. Gero's deceased son Gevo/Gebo and programmed him to kill Goku.
tenes razon amigo,yo nunca vi estos episodios y la verda quede sorprendido de que yamcha hiciera el kamehameha la verdad no pense que el yamcha sabia esa tecnica
@@gulitsuchihara1508belive me dragon ball is one of the best anime ,the adventure it has is very awesome to watch which we didn't get in neither z or super.
I wish Xenoverse 2 added more of Tien's moves... Multi-Form as a Strike Super? Four Witches as a SS or a Transformation? This move where he can reflect a Ki attack with a Kaia?
Yamcha gets dumped on too much. Even if he's the weakest of the Z fighters he could still beat the piss out of anyone else on the planet, including Earth's "savior".
Plus Yamcha kicked the shit out of a Saibaman, even though it killed him when he let his guard down he was still clearly stronger than it. Chiaotzu didn't even try to fight one, and when he tried to kill Nappa he barely scuffed up his armor. Yamcha>Chiaotzu.
Imagine if he kept up on training. He put Ki into the Wolf Fang Fist without any training. With some training, he comes up with the Spirit Ball. If he hadn't gotten a career and gotten lax, he'd probably be the best human fighter.
Yamcha only got laxed because he knows he's only human. Same goes for Krillin. I'm not sure about Tien, but Krilling and Yamcha know that they'll never keep up with the Saiyans, so why bother training at all?
Yeah. Think about it. Krillin was trained from an early age as a monk, while Yamcha was just some dude from the desert. Even though Yamcha started his training with Roshi after Goku and Krillin had been training with Roshi for like a year or so, Yamcha managed to catch up to Krillin by this tournament. So he definately has the potential to be stronger than Krillin or at least on his level. Let's not forget that he was stronger than Krillin during the Saiyan Saga.
Yamcha wasn't stronger than Krillin on the Saiyan Saga. After Raditz came Krillin had 206 and Yamcha 177. After Vegeta came Krillin had 1,770 and Yamcha 1,480
Glynn Tarrant Yamcha was like, 18-20 right now, whereas Krillin was a kid. So that gave Yamcha some edge. No doubt he could be close to Krillin though.
Krillin will always remain by far the strongest human. Why? Because he's the only one that got the opportunity to have his potential unlocked on Namek by Guru, reaching a PL of 75,000. Kami's Outlook is the pinnacle of training on Earth, so the rest of the human Z fighters capped there. Pretty cool to think Krillin is a planet buster though.
Yamcha and tein were og characters and now in super and some parts of dbz they are just ran through the dirt. Their could have been a lot more character devolpment. Now in super its all about saiyan and the next form they will unlock
Jumbie right? I heard about the super sapien transformation that was wished for with dragonballs so why haven't we seen that transformation for the humans yet?
Wait, remember when Tien knew how to reflect Ki attacks? He could've done this in the Tournament of Power! It's like the whole episode was building up to it, but it never happened.
Presumably, the reason Tien is able to reflect it is because of how much stronger Tien is over Yamcha. That didn't apply as much in the Tournament of Power when each universe is fielding their ten strongest fighters.
for those of you making jokes about the speed of the attack, keep in mind drawing things out is a common theme of dragon ball, even early on, yamcha did nothing wrong here in the manga the attack took up so much less and no "yamcha is weak" is not a funny joke anymore, its played out give the guy some credit, this is or WAS a difficult move to pull off let alone master at the time yamcha was the only person besides goku and roshi to use it
Der Felix At the MOST He's only one step behind And even then he should still above roshi at this point But besides that there are plenty of fights where yamche held his own without getting oneshotted The only real times he got oneshotted was with master roshi, Dr gero and MAYBE the cell jr But other than that he did alright in his other canonical fights Besides that his fight with roshi he only got a ring out so its not like he was knocked unconscious or anything
Phantom-Oblivion its true he is a good fighter I was told that the Japanese voice actor was using his voice a lot for the next arc so hopefully they bring him back in a strong way at least that's what I'm thinking.
His confidence vanished the day he got blown up by a plant that Krillin killed six of with a single attack. He tried to clutch up in the android saga, but he got wasted in a single hit once more, and on the same day he saw Piccolo getting one tapped twice by an old man, Goku getting dunked on by an obsese clown robot, and Vegeta getting humiliated by a single one of the twins. By that point, he understood the message and became a spectator. There was nothing for a simple human fighter without gimmicks and in his late 30's to be doing in that story anymore... unless he rocks an afro and mustache and is named Hercule that is.
@@nagmamahalbalagtas nah Yamcha was always the weakest member of the group, with the exception of the Chaotsu who is more of a walking gimmick than an actual fighter. Even after training his best he still fell behind Krillin and Tien every time. While he's clearly not as awful as his meme status implies, he's just the walking proof that training never really mattered in Dragon Ball past the Red Ribbon Army arc. It's all "magic water" this, "zenkai boost" that, "super saiyan", "time chamber", "fusions". There is always some magic thingy that makes characters gain power last minute and leaves secondary characters behind. So Yamcha is alright, he trained as much as everyone else, but his spot on the team is to be the guy that gets beaten up at the start of the arc to establish the power of the villain's side. Thankfully he got replaced in the Buu arc by... Videl ? Oh nah strength to her she's gonna have a bad time.
Humans can't go too high and they have no transformations, the only way they have to multiply their power level is the kaioken and it can only go up to X20(anything that goes above that isn't canon).
Kinda sucks they shit on Yamcha so bad in DBZ, his character has so much potential. He always seemed to have the best energy control out of the humans. If they'd just give him a goddamn asspull every now and then he could still be pretty awesome instead of just turning him into a punching bag running joke who quit even training.
The Best Gun Ever Necrochasm you no.Every one in dragonball had slow kamekameha even kid goku,is about moving your body to make the wave compared to dbz.Stop roasting yamcha
They pronounce 'kamehameha' the way they do because Toriyama's wife got the name from King Kamehameha of Hawaii, and that's how you pronounce his name. Technically speaking, this dub is correct. Also I know this is pretty much feeding trolls but the 12-year-olds who post literally 'lol yamcha sucks' as if I don't see that comment like 5 times a week are very boring. That's all. EDIT: Because this was getting filled with useless replies leading to nowhere: Kamehameha could TECHNICALLY mean 'turtle destruction wave,' if you really want to stretch it. 'Kame' means turtle and 'ha' means wave and you could TRY to say 'hame' is short for 'hametsu.' However, it's all just a coincidence and the main point was having a turtle-based attack name. I don't know why so many die-hard fans wanna argue it literally means 'turtle destruction wave.' It means that as much as Rasputin's name means 'raspy pooting.' It's a guy's last name and it was literally just picked for the coincidence of having 'kame' in there. Stop trying to make it more than that.
Dcon I hear people say that's what it literally means but I kinda doubt it. Kame = turtle, and "ha" means wave, but I don't think "hame" means anything. It's just a coincidence that there's the 'wave' in there, and 'Kame' meaning 'turtle' in Japanese is precisely why Toriyama's wife picked it.
It is just a coincidence that the name happens to mean "turtle destruction wave" while also being a Hawaiin king but that is a literal translation, do a little googling and you'll discover it's true
If you do a little googling, you will find out it's false and that there's nothing saying 'hame' means 'destruction,' my boy. anime.stackexchange.com/questions/7272/what-is-the-meaning-of-the-word-kamehameha Here's even a Japanese dictionary: books.google.com/books?id=oJtBAAAAYAAJ&pg=PA130&lpg=PA130&dq=hame+japanese+destruction&source=bl&ots=5luMDrLU_o&sig=WwAE-yyueTrReQWBIMDqAXAHjLs&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiOyLL0va7ZAhWo5oMKHQ-1DyUQ6AEIVzAI#v=onepage&q=hame%20japanese%20destruction&f=false "Hame" means 'weather-board.' Nothing like 'hame' or 'hami' means 'destruction.' It's a myth.
...Your "dictionary" also has shit like glosbe.com/ja/en/KAMEN%20feat.%E7%9F%B3%E4%BA%95%E7%AB%9C%E4%B9%9F this in it. I didn't know KAMEN featuring 石井竜也 was a word! Oh wait. It's not. Find me a Japanese dictionary in print (like the one I showed you) that shows 'hame' means 'destruction' or 'striking.'
I think what makes this a great moment for Yamcha is how much Roshi doubted the idea that he could even use it. Where Yamcha might not be the strongest member of his team, he at least proved that anyone could break the barrier if they actually applied themselves in their training.
We do joke a lot about Yamcha being weak and all that shit with Bulma, but let's be honest by the end of Cell games he was at least planet buster and probably still getting all the bitches. He definitely still stronger than other mainstream MC.
YouGotSomeFuckingAttitude _He is. I get it. Hating on Yamcha is the "cool" thing to do now. Thanks to TFS and then Super, he's become the joke of the fandom. You're free to keep propagating dumb memes if you enjoy them, its fine. But don't let that blind you to facts. Goku and Vegeta were already planet busters during their first fight. At the very least, Yamcha definetly eventually got much stronger than they were back on that fight, so yes he's planet buster.
Yeah we get it. He's like the third strongest of the weakest race of people prominent in the story. No matter how you spin it, Yamcha's day in the limelight is over and has been for a long time. Nobody is saying that he is OBJECTIVELY weak. They are saying that he is so much weaker in comparison to every other major character that it is comical. That's why the show itself plays it for comical effect. He is IN-UNIVERSE a joke. Sorry if that hurts your feelings, but try to consider that Yamcha is one of the only prominent fighters that just doesn't want to fight anymore. In a story literally all about fighting. His job is to hold the L now.
He ONLY became a joke in-universe during Super, which is a corporate shill series dedicated to pandering to memes and nostalgia. Back in Z, Yamcha was taken seriously as a fighter/warrior and only moved on in the Boo saga when it was clear he couldn't keep up (the exact same thing Krillin and Master Roshi did). And no, prior to Super Yamcha wasn't "so much weaker in comparison to every other major character that it is comical"; his last known power level was being comparable to Krillin during the saiyan saga, and both got way stronger since then. So really, your argument has no merit whatsoever lol
Honestly, people forget that Yamcha was actually surprisingly competent compared to how we view him. Tien is Shen's STAR PUPIL. And at this point Yamcha had only been a Turtle School member for THREE YEARS and is fully grown at the age of 20 at this time, whilst Goku and Krillin are still young teens who can far more easily absorb information, techniques, and grow. The fact Yamcha was HOLDING HIS OWN against Tenshinhan, who had been training under Shen (we're never given a concrete age but) we've seen with Chiaotzu since they were around Goku and Krillin's age, maybe a year older when they started with Shen. So, Tien should have about FOUR MORE YEARS atLEAST of experience under his belt. Thus showing how Yamcha was actually quite powerful, and gifted to have such growth that he could go toe to toe with Tien like this, with only 3 years of proper training, to Tien's atleast seven. Yes. this wasnt Tien giving it his absolute all. but he was still putting a LOT in, and received __actual__ damage from Yamcha's attacks. So, All in all, Good job Yamcha. you deserved better.
"Lol Yamcha sucks" I feel like people tend to forget that Yamcha is just a human, and when the Z series starts, he is still strong for a human going against aliens.
I love that while it was very hard to invent, it seems like a remarkably easy technique to pick up. Yamcha is particularly well suited to using it, since he already uses Ki in the Wolf Fang Fist. People forget that Yamcha, not Roshi, is the first character to use a Ki attack in the series. But I love how many people use it. It's basically all of the Turtle School students, Tien (who sees Roshi as a master, despite not being an official student. Though that's not why he knows it), Piccolo, Trunks and all of Goku's descendants.
@MustacheDLuffy well that was him creating and perfecting the technique, I'd imagine it's much easier to learn a technique than to invent and perfect your own
This moment of the show explains to me how DBZ characters still get hurt by stuff like rocks, despite not being hurt by supernova-level blasts. They concentrate Ki to protect their bodies.
Currently around 120 eps in dbz rewatching the whole series with my gf and I gota say it always surprises me how amazing the fights in the latter 1/4th of dragon ball were. So Many incredible moments like this.
I've never had anything against Yamcha, never tried to shit on him like everybody else does. I just think Tien is a badass, its a shame both him and Krillin have earthly limits when compared to Goku and Vegeta.
@Joel G Same with Naruto. Back in the early seasons there was much hype for many of the side characters, now even with some new powerful villain. We all know Naruto and Sasuke will save the day for the 100th time 🥱
I disagree - in an anime that focuses on Power Scaling this much, it would be dumb to make all of the side characters be always able to rise up to the ridiculous levels of the main ones.
This is a prime example of how battle aura works. That wave of energy people see surrounding the characters as they fight and fly act as an extra shield of protection. Pretty much theorized that this is why clothing isnt immediately destroyed because of it acting as an extra layer.
I always liked how when using it they say Ka-Me-Ha-Me-Ha but when saying it they say Kamehameha. I always liked to think the change of pronunciation was the difference between the name and the action of using the technique.
It's kind of funny that at this point, we've seen people fly, shoot energy waves, and move extremely quickly, but then when someone does any of these things during the WMAT at the start of the buu saga, it's like they've never seen any of this before, or heard of it.
I guess because it's been around 20 years Goku and the others had fought in a Martial Arts Tournament. Most of the people attending the tournament in the Buu saga probably HADN'T seen any of that stuff before.
If Goku could do it near the start of the series (a version Yamcha has surpassed in strength by this point) why would Roshi not think Yamcha could not use the Kamehameha Wave?"
Jeez, when the light of the attack used to engulf the entire scene. Beautiful. And while it looks kind of off to hear the sound effects and yelling with those basically static images, the illustrations of the kamehameha and Yamcha still look really cool.
Wait!! That's a moderate overflow spiking of ki, those rotating rays just before he released the attack, they indicate that he charged up the attack at least a little past his base power level...no wonder why Tien was later able to break his leg(not enough ki remained to keep Yamcha protected). This means Yamcha is the first to use the "super kamehameha"!
Losing a fight? Use a long-range, stamina-guzzling, hard-to-maneuver energy blast in extremely close quarters that can easily be dodged and takes several seconds to prepare.
He was confirming that in fact Yamcha was doing the kamehameha. Krillen: "What is Yamcha doing?". "Why is he waving?". Goku: kamehameha!. Krillen:"You're right, how is he going to pull that one off?!".
1) Seriously? Complaining about the speed of a technique in a Dragon ball saga anime? That happens like every fucking time. most English speakers do have a hate-bonner for Yamcha, they will say shit even for the dumbest things, two reasons come to my mind: a) Most never saw Dragonball, and if they did, they were already biased with the character, thanks to DBZ. b) His dumbass voice in the English dub, he speaks pretty much like a normal dude in the original Japanese or the Spanish dub (those are the ones I know) and probably in most languages that's the case, the english dubbers just saw him long-haired and then decided to ruin the character. 2) Another cool move that Tenshinhan forgot after using it just once.
You're right on both accounts, but are forgetting something. The English Dub purposely made DBZ Yamcha into a douchebag. So you wouldn't feel sorry for him when Bulma ditched him. He not only admittedly went on dates with other girls (not just Trunks' word of mouth), he would say shit like 'you're smart... for a girl' and be a sarcastic ass to her constantly 'gee, Bulma, I don't know!'
