I learned from the best! Thank you Richard from FHG Marine Engineering for showing me last year how to do this properly. I had many complaints about my bad editing with the music, so this time I've improved my Engine and Editing skills.
It was actually very easy with the right tools and know how. Come on Ladies, you can do it too!

Agreed with Jeff. And the content is extremely useful. I would assume this will significantly boost your number of subscribers. I'll share on my various platforms of social media. And for your editing, it's great!

Amanda, thank you for this video, very helpful to someone new to Hunters and Yanmars. We have a new to us 2004 Hunter Deck Salon and we have the same motor as you. I noticed at about the 5 min mark when you are removing the fuel filter there is a "T" junction in one of your hoses w/ a black cap on it that say "KEEP ??? ANTI-FREEZE COOLANT" (couldn't read the word after "keep"..."tight" maybe). I have this same setup and I was wondering what this is as it is not specifically shown in the manual? At least I haven't fount it yet. I'm guessing it is there to help winterize the cooling system, providing a method to put anti-freeze on the raw water side of the freshwater cooling system without having to mess w/ taking off hose clamps. I was hoping you could confirm that? If so, have you ever used it before? Again, thank you so much for the video, really helpful as I figure stuff out on our Hunter.

I was interested in which bolt on the secondary fuel oil filter is the bleed screw. Did this engine start without fuel bleeding? Very nice video.

Yes - it started without bleeding the system -

Very informative. Had to watch it twice to make sure I was correct. When you changed the engine fuel filter, you put the new o rings on the old filter that you just took off. Not trying to be clever, just trying to help. Suggest you do again.

Well Simon, you were one year late in letting her know, and I am two, Amanda, you did indeed pick up the old R205 filter. You set it down to put the gasket on the lower unit and then picked up the old filter...but you probably know that by now. Not nearly as bad as my mistake in forgetting to torque the lug nuts on my wife's Jeep after a brake job...happens to the best of us. Oh and yes, luckily my wife survived my potentially catastrophic error. A friend noticed the wheel wobbling as she pulled into the parking lot at work. Great video, very informative, and anyone who complains about the music has a Nellie Oleson complex.

Amanda, this is a very good "How-To" video, nicely done. How was your v-belt, did it need replacing and how do you know when it's time to change it? It was obvious you knew what you were doing at 01:57 by adding lube to make those parts fit together easily!

Thanks Jeff...need some supervision on the belts...That will be another video!

@@amandassailingadventure I'll look forward to your v-belt video, will you show how to inspect and replace if necessary the hoses on your engine as well?

Is it just me or she picks up her old gaz filter and puts the new seals on it and tighten things up. She drops the new one on the right and picks up the left one standing up ....the old one .

Interesting to watch. I have the same engine 4JHE but from 2010. Do you have your original owner's maintenance manual? My engine only holds .75 gal. Your 4 foot longer Hunter has the advantage of much better access for fuel and oil maintenance then my boat. Is your engine bay/room Soundown insulated? We do have in common the full beer as reward for Yanmar maintenance. LoL

my boat is the 2006 - Aft Cockpit version - may be slightly different than yours - but yes a cold beer is a reasonable reward for our engine maintenance efforts! My engine is insulated with foam - not sure if it is the brand you mentioned our not.

Synthetic technology oil? Thought yanmar say just good old multi grade 15w40?

You mentioned that you were going to smell like diesel. Hand sanitizer or isopropyl alcohol will remove the diesel fuel from your hands and the parts of the boat that may come in contact with the fuel.

I understand that filling the fuel filters with diesel before fitting is not a good idea because the fuel you put in has not been filtered. Since the filters take out "bits" down to 5-10 microns you won't see them. Also the fuel filters were overtightened. Otherwise a good video

A mechanic told me it is ok to add diesel to the filter, just make sure it is poured in the outer ring of holes, as it will then pass through the filter material. Fuel poured in the center hole will not be filtered.
