Individual pieces were hard to see because they were out of focus. Siam ( now Thailand) Niëllo silver pendant @ 8:46. Worth only a small amount because there is so much of it around. Other than that, it was just about all junk jewelry. Sorry!
I was going to post that whole sale scenario is a bit "wonky." It's been going on , not only for months, but a couple of years. I, too, saw the ad and noticed he's getting creative, as far as not publishing the exact address. Having been there several times, last year, and once this year, I checked.......I think the only estate they are cleaning out are......"storage unit estates and clean outs." Buyer beware.........and yes, you are correct, the prices are "high." That bag was there since the last time I went....maybe 4 or 5 weeks ago. On another note.........I did pick up, at an estate sale, some items that are right up your alley. and are an early Christmas gift for you, .....vintage Easton/P'burg high school trinkets and one interesting sweatshirt. 😜 You must have been out of the area to miss this. Don't worry.......I got ya' covered! Hope to run into you soon.
Kramer was an old costume jewelry manufacturer. They probably put the tags on at the factory, and it was sent to john random store. 03:02 Scarf clip, from back in the 80s. The little female is "black forest" carving , souvenir of Austria or Switzerland or some such. The dangle was a Thai temple dancer, originally an earring. Could be 50s, could be last week. The same design was made forever. It's silver. 09:40 Vendome was the higher end line from Coro. Nice stuff. I was looking at the round red screwbacks sitting upside-down on the floor. They look like bakelite, and if so are the best thing in the bag. No one individual piece is big money, but Renee can make her money back at the flea without much trouble.
FYI for future reference... don't undo the necklace clips. because in a tangle like that, a paired pendant or charm could potentially be unpaired inadvertently. Just taking the time with the sorting is all that's needed. If one needs to undo the clasp that's fine but be sure to handle with care.
I know, I saw that yesterday, so sad. Pee Wee's Playhouse was one of my favorite shows growing up. I had, well still have, the playhouse and all of the figures to go with it, plus my talking Pee Wee doll, Chairy, and a few clothing items that feature the Playhouse. Can't fit the clothes anymore obviously, but so glad that they were kept!
I think you will make good money on the Vendome earrings and the sweet carved girl figurine. There are enough decent pieces in there, that should make you your money back and some.
That was so much fun Renee..even the music was a delight. A follow-up on the rest of the bag and the value of your cashe would be so interesting to watch.
Thank you Renee for showing me/us what was in the bag🎊 My fingers itch too detangel those chains.✨ I too think that you made your money back and much more!👵👍
Great to hear from you again, Renée. Uff, that was a lot of detangling work for a bunch of costume jewelry. I don´t think that you overpaid this lot, it´s excellent flea market merchandise. Just keep the copper bracelet, it will fit you perfectly ! 👌 By the way, Renée: I remembered your recent enthusiasm on the Nuremberg Chronicle from 1493, got into contact with an old book collector and think that a second package with a similar content might follow soon. Promises, promises...I can´t promise anything, but will try my very best. We shall see...🤞Have a good one (very humid and a little bit rainy over here, but just around 60 degrees Fahrenheit), and keep up your excellent work ! 👍Greets from GER, U.
Just reading your comment has me intrigued! Out of curiosity, have you had a chance to talk with the book collector just to learn more about their collection and any interesting book acquirement stories? Like any collector/dealer, they must have a treasure trove of stories that literally could fill a book!
@@PaperandMoose We got an appointment on forthcoming Friday. This guy seems to be more a generalist on antique books than a specialist. He is living not that far from Bremen, by the way. If you have some special wishes or interests, please let me know.
once you get the necklaces with chain links untangled put one end thru a straw, trim to fit from the pendant to clasp then closechain...the one side of chain is in straw and will help keep from tangling
My husba d will buy me bags of jewelry to go through He knows how much i love it. My christian sister who collects old everything including brooches said the older ones dont have a lock on the little latch you hook into. I have some older ones i just thought were broken. But you can tell the difference between the broken and the supposed to be. Ijust love lo o king at the stuff.
I have loved untangling jewelry since my Mama asked for help straightening her jewelry box in 1957! More fun than jigsaw puzzles. Start by separating fine chain necklaces using 2 sewing needles. Bliss.
Always love a good mystery unboxing video 😄 I definitely think you will make your money back and some profit. You'll have to sit down and put on a fun movie and spend an hour detangling the rest.
Hey Renee. So sorry for the jewelry. But I think you can get your money back for them. The pendents are nice and the bracelet's are neat as well. The thimbles are a great find. I never saw that in any of the grabbags from other seller's. God Bless you Renee. Hope you find better stuff soon in next sale. Take care. Mari'a. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🤗🤗🤗👻👻❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🌟
Renee you could always rebag what you don’t want to individually sell and maybe recoup some of your cost. The little crown with the loop on the back is for scarves..you loop the scarf around your neck and then pull it through that hoop :)
The crown brooch is a scarf clip. I collect vintage brooches like the pink enamel flower brooch the bag. Spotted it in your last video. Minimum price $2 but they do sell for more.
At 11:50 the black and silver pendant is probably made in Siam, it's old and could be Sterling also. I have a beautiful bangle bracelet like that. I got it in the 70's when my father was dabbling in antique jewelry.
You definitely have some older jewelry..I am 77 and I recognized some of it from my teen years. Also, from what I could see of the heart bracelet, it looks like it might be a very good piece. The bag was definitely worth $30. Great find Rene.
The little dancer you asked about (at 8.44) is Thai silver, which is usually wrought on a black background. Very pretty and popular in the '50's and '60's. It was quite valuable at the time, although I don't know how it is now. I liked this sort through, interesting to watch. As a crafter some of the necklaces would work well broken down for the beads for craft work. I use them on catches and spines of some junk journals. Love your videos.
The silver (800 parts) is made in Indonesia. The grey part is called niëllo. It is a silver and lead powder, melted on top of the engraved picture and then polished. A very old goldsmiths technique. It is not toxic to wear. That pendant will pay back the entire jewelery bag.👍🏻greetings from a goldsmith from the Netherlands.🙋🏻♀️😘
I like seeing the jewelry. There was a needlepoint pin I saw in the beginning with pink and green flower. I have that same pin . I got it mail order from Lillian Vernon Co. In the late seventies. I’m surprised you didn’t display it .
I love going thru old jewelry. I spent many afternoons going thru my grandmother's big black leather jewelry box. I now own that same jewelry box. I've kept all the jewelry that I got in it. My sis and I went thru it all and shared with our niece and sis in laws. Nothing of much value except a few but there was a lot of old costume in it.
Lots of cute pieces of jewelry. Crazy that a coin from big rapids Michigan was in that. That town is about an hour and half from me. They have Ferris state university there.
That ship pin is a great find! That is a Son In Service pin. Very collectible but not real high value. The 5 stars commemorate the death of the 5 Sullivan brothers.
I'd bet some of those thin chains - if you could ever untangle their Gordian knot- would turn out to be gold. If not, still, a lovely pile of bunched-up things to rummage through Renee…
The little wooden girl figure is a good one. I can't remember the name but Ive sold them before. I think they're from Germany. Google lens will tell you.
My sister used to like Vendome jewellery back in the 1980's. The red ones you got were nice! Did you check the blue stone in the silver setting, with your finger held on it for a minute? might be a Mood Ring.
9:35 Vendome is a BOLO MCM brand, especially with the tag. Don’t try to auction them or you’ll lose money. Price them high and take a best offer. I’d start at $50 and accept $30. They will pay for the entire bag.
Renee !!! Thanks for taking the time to share what was in the bag so cool to see!!! I like detangling things I find it therapeutic! So many cool things in the bag ! I appreciate you so much! Stay safe stay great and keep up the good work!!!
You were stressing me out when you were trying to detangle that jewelry. It looked like it was getting more and more tangled the more you tried to remove pieces from the pile. I think you will do well with many of those items. There was a nice variety and lots of necklaces and pins and other bits and pieces that I am sure will appeal to many. Good luck on getting the rest of it free from the others.
Probably paid to much but you got some fun stuff and will make your money back, …Plus got to make a video about it ! I have friends that bought bag lots of jewelry and found good pieces but not the norm…usually find broken stuff. The little dancing girl pendant is Siamese enamel almost always black but I have seen them in white. Not much value but more then they used to be. I had a girlfriend I used to buy Norwegian Enamel jewelry for and people would always try to sell me this Siamese stuff
LOL -- Cupids .... when I first saw them I thought "flying pigs!!!" Yeah .... that "Siamese" piece is interesting .... my mom had a full set (necklace, bracelet, earrings) of that particular pattern. "Siam Sterling jewelry was manufactured from the 1930s through the 1980s, and was a very popular motif in the 1950-60s. Although Siam officially changed its name to Thailand in the 1940s, the “Siam” nickname for this style of jewelry stuck. Siam silver is officially called “Nielloware.” Niello is a black mixture of copper, silver, and lead, used as an inlay on engraved or etched metal. American soldiers who visited Thailand in the mid-20th century bought this jewelry for their ladies back home, making it a popular mid-century trend. Much of the filigree was etched by hand by Thai artisans."
The dancer is most likely 925 from Siam 20s 30s. There are several vintage (verging on antique) pieces there. You should research them more. Some of the single earrings can easily be converted to pendants. $$$
How fun: a jewelry grab bag!!! To help untangle the necklaces, sprinkle on a little baby powder to make things slide a little easier. Obviously, no powder on the watches.
An interesting batch of jewelry. Thar Christmas bulb looks like one of a pair I once saw dangling from a young lady's ear lobes...one was red, the other, you guessed it green!
The goodwill bins that I go to used to have bags jewelry. I buy old costume jewelry for my art I make and sell...you can take old pins and make magnets out of them.
Looked like a few good items in the nest of jewelry. The crown that wasn’t a pin was a scarf charm or scarf ring, is what I call them. Fun to see what was in it. Looked like a few necklaces of gold. Maybe 🤞🏼. ~ Texas
Hello Renee. I think it was worth the $30 you spent. It’s got some really cute items in it and a few look like they might bring a little more than you’d think. I hate untangling necklaces. It really git’s on my nerves. But you got to do what you got to do. I love the necklace with the red flowers it’s so pretty. You could wear the red and diamond earrings to play bingo the cage thing reminds me of the cage the put bingo balls in . They might even bring you luck. Nice bag of jewelry. Take care. 🕵🏼♀️🕵🏼♀️🕵🏼♀️🕵🏼♀️🕵🏼♀️☕️🫖☕️🫖🥰🥰💯💯💯💯💯💯
Check for signed costume, the little carved girl with the flowers is cool. Siamese (Thailand) damescene sterling silver dancer, popular in forties and fifties, usually marked Siam. There uou go Vendome! Thirty dollars worth of fun.😊
