Hi Podhoncisty x, I hope you are doing well! I have a Yashica MC-35 too but my battery compartment is damaged. Could you maybe help me to fix it (it is the metal plate that is broken) by sharing a photo of your compartment so I know how to solder the metal plate? Let me know and Ill share my e-mail address with you. Would be awesome if you could help as I would like to use it again :) Thanks and stay well Felix
Just bought a lot of 5 80s point and shoots 5 nzd each in the box was a yashica 35mc in grubby condition it’s had a ding at some point as the shutter button housing is slightly bent the viewing window is so hazy I can’t see through it yet I’ll tryn clean it up other than that it seems to work well. It reminds me of my rollei 35 fine wee camera. Thanks for the review 📷❤️
Hello... I'd like to first say, how much I appreciate your videos.. I also have a home store out of California... after diagnosed with heart disease I was forced to be at home.. I come from a cinema backround and just love the analog systems of my youth in the 70s and 80s.. I began studying repair to collect and finally sell.. my broken collection of olympus stylus point and shoots has become like a little monster in my closet.. i.habe yet to find a comprehensive stylus ( mju) disassembly and repair video on youtube.. is there anyway I can appeal to your good nature and ask for a few stylus video.. I have mju two with a flash not fully coming up.. also is there a way to replace the weather strip.. and how difficult is it to replace faulty slide doors.. thanks you

Is there anyone reputable that can service these cameras my shutters are sticking a bit just needs a light cleaning but cant find videos of tear downs on these little MC cameras
If you install a filter on the lens, it can affect the amount a light coming into the light meter window. How would you compensate for this? Can anyone share one's experience?
Most filters come with a guide which shows you how much to compensate. But on a camera like the MC, the light meter cell is behind the filter, and compensates automatically. You should always have a filter on the MC as the filter ring is aluminum, a filter protects it from getting dented.

Hello! I just purchased one of these cameras and am having an issue with the shutter. It fires fine when there is no battery in it, but gets stuck when a battery is put in. What functions does the battery provide power to, and is the camera operable without power?
Make sure that the battery is in the right way, that the film speed is not set too low, and that the aperture is opened up a little. And there is more than a small chance that your camera has a malfunctioning shutter, which is fairly common in these cameras.

Late answer to your question. The answer is yes, these cameras work fine with alkaline batteries. All Yashica Electro camera models work correctly with modern batteries. I have used 6V 4LR44 alkaline battery with my my 35MC and the camera has worked perfectly.
