while there are so many kicks developed. It could be that while they add to the striking arsenals, it also add to many things of which kicks are easily countered especially those kicking defense specialist. The problem with kicks going high is it opens and widen the space between the two legs which offers a path for one to enter closely on the kicker. The good thing now a days is most martial artist keep learning how to strike, block or parry kicks only but not learning hard to defend like to catch, scoop, bump, a kick to tumble one to the ground for easy mauling with kicks.

While I respect Yaw Yan being a Filipino developed striking martial art,I think, it is not again developed by the master thinking for survival in the street but in the ring. The Okinawan Karate where the Mainland Japanese Karate came from is for self defense in an actual survival situation. They fight mostly with their bare hand that is why they hardened their fist, extended knuckles, fingers, chop, etc., in a makiwara; they mostly standing where their feet is on the ground for stability and mobility while their bare knuckle arms do the fighting mostly, and seldom kick only when necessary but they kick low to forelegs up to the bladder area, floating ribs and kidney area. They strike the upper part like the head, face, neck, throat with their bare hand.
