Because Morph doesn't actually let you turn a creature face up at all. It just lets you cast the spell for 3 mana as a face down 2/2 creature. Every Morph creature just incidentally has a separate activated ability that turns them face up.
My favorite combo is yedora with branchsnap lorian or kin-tree warden and then altar of dementia. Being able to tap the flipped forest to morph then sac it again and again has got to be one of the funniest ways to win. Most new people I've played against never see it coming!
@@MistaHoward Slight correction, flipping a morph is not an activated ability. It's a special game action, it does not use the stack and cannot be responded to.
What's even better about Yedora is if you play Morph creatures, they become unkillable because you can Morph them and turn them back into creatures so they can turn into compost again and again :) (Although monogreen is pretty limiting for Morph, so i prefer it in the 99 of a Morph deck rather than as the commander)

I absolutely love Yedora. Any effect that turns lands into creatures plus a sac outlet is just an infinite combo outright; Zuran orb for infinite life, altar of dementia for infinite mill. Live the dream and become the Gardner from Hell
Drop a Life and Limb enchantment with this beasty on the field and any mill/sac outlet and watch your friends wish they saved that Armageddon from 3 turns ago
Exactly this; it's an extremely deceptive deck, like I think people understand the intuitive value of creatures coming back as ramp and the lack of LD in EDH makes this very nice. But all the shenanigans with morph, life&limb style effects make everything in the deck disgustingly resilient . I'll even morph up creatures w/destroy enchant type effects to turn off the lands creatures effect and save my board from exile or cycrift style board wipes@@psycoNaughtplaysMCPC
Armageddon would destroy all lands. All the Yedora player's lands are non-tokemn creatures. Therefore, when they die, put them back onto the battlefield, untapped. They are still saprolings too. No haste, though.

Ok but the true epic way to play Yedora is mono green aristocrats(UNHEARD OF) and animate your lands repeatedly and sac them to fuel your mono green aristocrats shenangians
Your stuff's usually pretty good, but this one was especially top-tier. The Weekend at Bernie's comparison, the falling off your bike metaphor, all of it was great. And I can't help but love Yedora because they're great in my Kadena morph deck. Nothing quite like using Willbender on you opponent's kill spell, letting Willbender die, and seeing the look on their face as they realize you can and will jumble their spells over and over again. (Also, Mairsil the Pretender, please.)
The best thing to do with Yedora is to make an unkillable board by using Living Land and other similar effects to turn all your lands into creatures. Others have suggested morph which is probably a more fair way to approach a similar strategy. Personally I take the Living Land approach because where else can you run those kinds of things, but I make sure not to run any infinite sac outlets 'cause then it's just dumb.
I hope one day you'll cover my Girl, Thantis, the Warweaver. For a Jund commander, she doesn't throw nearly as many goons off cliffs, compared to her peers. And she kinda goads everything, so lots of cards going sideways. (Some people run her as tubo fog, which you'd probably hate, but I run her as anti-solitaire with lots of targeted permanent removal and board wipes that don't kill Thantis)

@@collinbeal me too. I even made a scute swarm deck out of entirely zendikar rising cards in real life. made me realize that some decks are only really reasonable on arena, where it tracks your triggers and life gain for you. 😹
This guy is one of the many things I've hoovered up from drafts and sits in my binder in the "Might make this a budget commander of the one month" list. Just run land-animation with stuff like Living Lands, get soem Wise Mystical Tree card sleeves and eventually my entire board is just watching my opponent judgingly. Up until now though, aside from other decks on my pipeline, I've just kind of slept on the idea because, at the end of the day, that's where the ideas for that deck end and I don't know how much milage I'd can get from "Make a bunch of lands that can't die turbo."
My favorite synergy is Yedora with Ambush Commander. Ambush Commander turns forests into 1/1 elves and has a built-in sacrifice ability. With both out creatures who die keep coming back as mana-producing forest elves. Add in haste for more fun. Creature ramp like Sakura-tribe elder also becomes even better, as you get a forest AND another forest.
MaldHound makes a great point about how composting commanders are grounds for a kidney punch. Yet what about Feldon of the Third Path? He takes the dead creature, puts some barbs on it, and then proceeds to use it to violate your Hershey Highway. Especially fun with creatures that do damage when they die, because he is one of the few cards I've seen that sacrifices the token instead of exiling it.

I need this in my Ashaya deck because I must always have her be a 59/59 at MINIMUM plus Strata Scythe so a additional amount of big numbers on top of that. the original gimmick was to basically just make it elf tribal but that didn't last long, most of the creatures are elves though
What’s really fun with Yadora is that if you pair him with Waker of the Wilds, and Zuran Orb you can make a land into a creature and then sac it to Zuran Orb for 2 life, and that land pops back in as a forest triggering landfall and you can repeat the process again and again
Yedora+Insurrection+sac outlet= congratulations, unless you have land wraths you will never be seeing any of the creatures I just took ever again but hey you've got some mana
Life and Limb turns all your Forests into 1/1 Saprolings. Chump block with Forest cards. Since they're not tokens, they return to play as Forests... which are also 1/1 Saprolings.
You should do Patron of the Moon. Green ramp is all cool, but *blue* land ramp? And the entire schtick of OG Moonfolk read "return a land you control to hand: kick someone really hard in the dick"
I may put Yedora (I have two in my collection) into my mono green Freyalise commander deck, but I have to find something to remove. It's land themed, almost all forests are lands, but has different win strategies in place. When I started playing MTG, it was one or two strategies in a deck to win. I prefer multiples that chain. If a link is lost, another will come up. I don't play competitive since a couple of the cards may be banned, I like to play to see what my decks can do, and what my friends' decks can do. Some of them do play competitively so, I'm kind of, helping them out.
This does work in my Rocco, Cabaretti Caterer Druid Tribal deck. Whole point is to ramp fast with a ton of druids, cast Rocco and tutor up Gilt-Leaf Archdruid, to steal people's lands. Always feels nice to be unaffected by a board wipe so I'm still able to cast Jaya's Immolating Inferno for a table wipe.
I play Yedora exclusively in my Kadena deck because I am a mean bastard who hates having his board wiped (and yes, people have tried to wipe my board while Yedora was on my field). The last dude who tried to do that literally looked at me and went "what're you doing?" And I was like, "making some forests." Then I had to explain to him why I could do that. This video gave me hiccups though because I was laughing so hard.
My buddy was running a white/Black spirit swarm deck, basically he made a shit ton of 1/1s and his plan is to swing for game. My shit eating grin when I threw out rain of blades and suddenly got 1 million new mana was almost as good as the look on his face when I said "Landfall."
Living Lands. Ambush Commander. Living Plane. Nature's Revolt. This commander is a living nightmare. It didn't need infinite mana, but it gets it. It didn't need a mill combo, but it does. It didn't need a way to ping you to death, but it does. Infinite life? Why not! I will target anyone playing it.
funny you didnt mention morph creatures. IIRC you can have Kin-Tree Warden as an infinite sacrifice (sacrifice it returns as a forest, tap for mana to turn face up, sacrifice it return as forest etc) Heck with proteus machine you could make infinite mana (0 cost to morph)

As someone whose main and best deck is Yedora, this is hilariously untrue. Natural Affinity. Play in response to any wrath, and you are almost guaranteed to win. Living Lands + Guardian Project + any sac outlet. Face-downs are technically nameless, so if they etb as creatures, they draw a card regardless of having more than 1. Perilous Forays + Proteus Machine. Play every basic you own for free

it's a combo deck. turn your forests into creatures with something permanent like Ambush Commander, or have one of the 2 free morph cards and you can mill all your opponents out with Altar of Dementia. IN MONO GREEN.
Yedora is a justification for running Armageddon and other similar effects. It's not something I like to do, but will I keep it in the sideboard in case you wanna try your Captain Planet shenanigans? Yes I fucking will.
This deck is the only deck I feel morally okay with using Protean Hulk with because it doesn't instantly win in mono green. Kill it with anything, grab Dryad Arbor, Lotus Cobra, Starved Rusalka, and Proteus Machine from the deck. Instant infinite life combo!
Yedora is my go-to commander. Although I do play a bit differently focusing on animating the lands then using them for sac outlets and just infinite looping Death triggers and ETB's. Nothing hurts more than a board wipe though after I animate all the lands so I do recommend to play with caution.
