Yellow Flow Hive Inspection - Looking for the queen. Marking the queen. Prevent the next swarm.

It's time to inspect the Flow Hive 2 and look for the queen. The Flow Hive is packed with honey and the Flow Hive is packed with bees. I need to work quickly to remove queen cells and swarm cells from the Flow Hive to prevent the next swarm.
If you are considering installing a sustainable or edible landscape or becoming a beekeeper or starting beekeeping as a hobby this is the channel for you. Much appreciated. Thank you for stopping in to have a look. Also, I think the RED queen bailed. I have been through the hive twice now and haven't seen her. Removed several queen cells last week and a couple more today. Time to get a new queen.

Well, I am taking your advice and going to paint my flow frames with wax this weekend. That said, this will be attempt number two for the flow frames so we will see. Hopefully they take to it.

I am pretty confident it will work for you. Last year the red hive didn't touch the flow frames. This year they are filling them. I inspected the red flow super today and it is about a third full of honey. Pre-waxing is the key in my opinion.Especially if you have wax from their own hive. If not any beeswax should work. Anyway. Watch my waxing flow frames video and wax it like I did on the last two frames. The rest of them I kind of dabbed it on and it didn't come out as nice as the last two that I painted on. Good luck. Bug Farmer My red hive seems to be doing good I am going to do hive inspections on both hives today it is supposed to be in the upper 60s today here. And I am like you I don’t like to have to pinch a queen either. But sometimes you have to.

I would keep a eye on yellow they may still swarm. When ever I have swarm cells I pull the queen and 2 brood frames and make a fake swarm and put it in nuc or another 10 frame. Some times when they want to swarm they still swarm.

I also recalled your comment to only wanting 6 hives and I laughed as I was in the same boat but now I am up to 20 and will have 25 but end of spring. I also liked that you will give a hive to a friend. I need to do a apiary walk thru like you did. Thanks again for sharing

Thanks. Each hive has only one queen. if more than one queen is born or placed in a hive they will fight to the death or until one of them fly away to start a new colony. Thank again for your support MSB. I really appreciate you.

I looked in the orange hive yesterday and no queen that I can see. The purple hive has a new queen and the blue hive has a new queen. looking in the orange and green hive for a queen again today.
