This same Apple Tactic works great for Apple…and for me. I refused to upgrade from my 11 until Apple released a proper Green color and moved to USB-C. Well last years spring update with the green was my trigger. I didn’t get usb-C, but when they launched it, I realized I don’t need USB-C since I MagSafe charge anyway. I still want USB-C to make all my devices utilize the same cables and chargers, but I’m not going to worry about it for now. Well done Apple. I imagine there are many who will upgrade from that 5 year old phone for the same reasons I did.

Bingo: It's a trigger for people who are ready to upgrade, but need that kick in the pants to get up and actually do it. If I was ready to move up, the new yellow color would be an ideal "Oh look, this is the perfect time" motivator. (A _green_ 13Mini is what finally got me to move on from my iPhone 8.)

I use usb c cables that is usb and has a flip top lighting adaptor on it. An Uber had them one day & it was awesome now everyone is my many cables can be used for either usb c or lightning devices. When I have company over and they wanna charge there is just one cable by the guest sofa and after they finish charging someone else like oh I need to charge now too they just pass phone down flip the adaptor down over the usb & star to charge an idevice. It makes so much sense for Ubers to have 2 of these cables than 4 cables for 2 of each

@@Murillos1 if you’re coming from an iPhone 13 to a 14. Not much of an upgrade. If you’re coming from an 8, which some people are, that’s a pretty big upgrade.

I’m an yearly updater on the upgrade program & I get being the early update each update is gonna be rather iterative. The mass market is not me. Someone from an iPhone 8 the 14 pro is gonna be mind blowing. If they go w an phone from XR-13 they’re gonna see a huge upgrade. That’s who the yearly updates are for like my cousin who finally ditched the 7 Plus jet black she got on launch day for an iPhone 13 Pro.

I don't mind new phones coming out every year, but there needs to be a better way to safely and efficiently recycle, reuse, and repair older phones. The e-waste problem is a huge, huge issue, and a lot of it comes from the lack of repairability and forced obsolescence.

As someone who went from a yellow xr after missing out on the 5c, and then to a yellow iPhone 11, I’m a big fan. Not such a big fan of no physical sim support, so now I just have yellow glasses, watch band, wallet, pocket knife, and a graphite iPhone 13 Pro Max haha

It’s not ridiculous - nor is it suppose to be a “new device”. It’s just an additional color. That’s it, that’s all. Apple clearly knows how to get people excited by spaced out additions to a product that’s already been released. And more than likely these new color additions just took longer to produce and instead of releasing all of them at one time, Apple saw it intuitive to just hold back see what the people like.

Why not? I like yellow. I wish they had a yellow iPad mini. I normally get Product Red Apple products since the first red iPod. Yellow is refreshing. I have three yellow HomePod Minis, they look great.

The folks with iPhone 7s would want an upgrade sooner, though. Apple has a constantly cycling consumer base, and every year brings new people to the upgrade table.

I don’t know why Apple puts out a colour edition like that. I mean doesn’t makes sense plus people have already seen yellow colour in the iPhone. 11 as well, so nothing that new. Plus even in the case of iPhone 12 Apple launched purple which again we’ve already seen in iPhone 11. If Apple wants to launch a colour so atleast be new with the colour and bring it with the line up and not later on. I think Apple should think about it.

The color is meaningless. Most people cover their iPhone with a case. Is my iPhone yellow, green or clear? No idea. But the case is blue and white.

What they really mean isn’t that self centered when I’m ready they mean stop giving me .5 percent upgrade year over year if it’s a new phone make it greater than a 10 percent increase the upgrades are marginal at best

I completely disagree with your take. It's irresponsible to produce new products every 6 months. The amount of extra E-waste used in this thought process is disturbing. You don't need to make 7 versions of the same thing. Be responsible.
