Fun fact: The Horse Guan Yu has is the horse "Red Hair" which once belonged to the beast himself LU BU the horse is said to be the fastest horse in the Three Kingdoms.

I remember Lü Bu from Dynasty Warriors 3 was a beast and hard to beat and Red Hare was the reward you got for beating him. Crazy thing is me and my cousins co-op played the game and I was Guan Yu when we beat Lü Bu and that was before I knew I knew the full history of the 3 kingdons.

I played dynasty worriers 5 I played it with my brother years ago and LU BU was just in possible to beat so I'd shoot him off his horse and take it and then I'd run away and my brother would do the same thing, oh man I miss the old days

Those glaives are actually called Pudao, which are a type of zhanmadao, It''s pretty cool because it translates roughly as horse chopping saber. So you can see how they where used often against cavalry. Specifically in Chinese sources i have read they where often employed against the legs of horses, sometimes under front line shields. Of course they where very effective against both infantry and cavalry, with the most famous type polearm being the Guandao, The legendary hero Guan Yu's weapon. Who to this day is found everywhere in china, shrines, statues and artwork of Guan Yu from the three kingdoms are everywhere in China and much of east Asia.

still waiting for unit push back mechanic like the soldiers are literally pushed back inch by inch so you could do flanking maneuver if they push too much just like the Battle of Canae

This looks great! I’ve studied the romance of three kingdoms and everything you hear from both historical and the legends are tells to hear! From the yellow turban rebellion to the battle of chi bi and how Zhuge Liang indirectly formed the three kingdoms of Wu, Wei, and Shu is all great! Oh, we can’t forget the fear on the battlefield when Lu Bu is there! Look and read all this stuff if you are getting this game.

I have to admit, the game looks so much better now, however I feel they just didn't nail the "BATTLE SCALE" its still warhammarish , I don't know how they did it, but previous titles had this sense of scale even with few units, don't know if its model sizes or map size causing this, am I the only one who see this?

Unit spacing. They're too compressed for some reason Same with Rome 2 onwards. Try adding a little space in between units and the battles start feeling much larger.

I love the total war warhammer style of fighting but i really think they should add killing animations, thats what really made combat exciting for me

People don’t like how they link up during combat also cavalry would struggle if they brought it back. I think they should bring back death animations like how in shogun the guys sometimes roll around on the ground and suffer it would be great since it has no effect on combat

I liked warhammers combat because it wasnt synced (rome 2 and atilla battles were super boring) buti dont like warhammer because they didnt have a sort of kill animation if you get what im saying

The yellow turbans are just the most glass cannon faction. They get shred by missiles but their vig advantage are their strong dual wielding units and the high moral across the board.

Honestly, being a soldier in these times would’ve been a great way to see the world. If you’re working on the farm your whole life, you won’t really be able to go out and explore your country. Maybe that appealed to the people of the time, maybe not I don’t know.

Scale was a bit underwhelming still, feel like there needs to be more unit slots per army. That said the game looks amazing visually, the flags on the inf all lined up nicely in formation is just 👌👌. I mean weve only really seen 1 on 1 situations aswell so maybe the scale will feel a lot larger in 3v3s 4v4s Etc.

Traditional the emperor was referred to as the Son of Heaven, the Jade Emperor's representative on Earth. So I am guessing historically they would have been a bodyguard unit of the emperor.
