"We were born to be the ones. To show the faithless what we've done". Those who told them they couldn't do it. Who said they'd fail. They were wrong. "Here in this Angel City, lights will shine. And for awhile we let ourselves go blind". Reminds me of "Rough Landing, Holly". Going to a new place and the fame and excitement getting the best of them. "But now we know who loves and loves us not. And that's worth every good thing we have lost". But they differentiated friend and foe, and learned to
Remember seeing Ocean Avenue on MTV in late 2004 and I instantly fell in love and still am! Still to this day probably the only thing worth watching I have ever seen on MTV also..
"We were born to be the ones, To show the faithless what we've done And there's a fire inside,It burns like the surface of the sun" - I don't think I can think of better lyrics to fit our current generation... The elders judge us all the time and their lack of faith in us is a bit disheartening but we will show them what we are capable of..
This song is awesome! Yellowcard is one of the few long-lived pop punk bands that didn't gone to worse from their beginnings :) Southern Air, one of the best albums of 2012
Agreed, one of the better produced rock albums I've heard in a long time, sounds great on every speaker I have. The audiophile puritans might say it's still way to brickwall limited, but that's a side of it I can manage to ignore.
It was a good decision that they decided to have Neal Avron (the producer) mix the record instead of having Tom Lord-Alge do it. They've done it since When You're Through Thinking, Say Yes until their last record.
Dude same here, used to listen to them back in like 2004-2005. Then stopped for a few years, and then started listening to them again around 2008 or 2009.
Yeah. I listen to stuff like Memphis May Fire, The Acacia Strain, and Emmure, but Yellowcard is one of my top 5 favorite bands. It's because they play with passion and you can tell they love what they do and that they were all born for this.
they always amaze me with their 1st album song Way Away Lights and Sounds (i know its the 2nd but 1st as a song not intro) The Takedown The Sound of You and Me Surface of The Sun
I saw them twice last fall and I fully concur. Going from 'Awakening' into this was so amazing. I've seen them 19 times in 11 years, btw, and this was right up there with anything they've done.
When they'd played this.. I can't explain the awesomeness I felt! It felt so bad ass to feel the vibes of the guitar through my body! Yellowcard's awesome in person! :D
i used to listen to Yellowcard a lot a few years ago, but stopped, don't know why. I just came across this song, and holy shit, they've still got it, this is amazing
This is a story full of restless nights Of do or do not 'cause there is no try Across a decade we flew high and we fell low And getting up when we're dragged down is all we've known We were born to be the ones To show the faithless what we've done And there's a fire inside We were born to be the ones To show the faithless what we've done And there's a fire inside It burns like the surface of the sun Here in this Angel City lights will shine (Lights will shine) And for a while we let ourselves go blind (Inaudible) But now we know who loves and loves us not And they're worth every good thing we have lost (Oooh!) We were born to be the ones To show the faithless what we've done And there's a fire inside (Born to be) We were born to be the ones To show the faithless what we've done And there's a fire inside It burns like the surface of the sun We were born to be the ones And burn like the surface of the sun (Oooh!) To show the faithless what we've done (Oooh!) And burn like the surface of the sun And all the million miles to go Not over yet, not even close We were born to be the ones To show the faithless what we've done And there's a fire inside We were born to be the ones To show the faithless what we've done And there's a fire inside It burns like the surface of the sun (Oooh!) We were born to be the ones (Oooh!) And burn like the surface of the sun (Oooh!) To show the faithless what we've done (Oooh!) And burn like the surface of the sun
Everyone here writing about how they've been fans of Yellowcard since '04, or '05, or '07, that's really awesome, but you missed out on some really, really good music after Ryan initially joined back in '01.
Even though I din't see them (ok, let's just say... I won't play live video cause my internet is sooo slow that's why I did'nt see them) or know them, I still love their songs. (Of course, I'm referring to YC)
