My Thoughts On The Song/Chart:
First and Foremost, thank you to ‪@raidergtasdre2384‬ for taking my commission for this song which IMO was long overdue for a custom!
This song originated from The Beatles White Album, one of the most famous and influential albums of all time. This IMO being one of the best Beatles songs as well. But the version here is a live performance on "The Rolling Stones Rock And Roll Circus" from 1968.
The TV special, which included appearances by the Rolling Stones, the Who and Jethro Tull, among others, did not air as originally planned and was not released officially until October 1996.
The performance was done by The Rock Supergroup "The Dirty Mac"
The Dirty Mac was John Lennon's temporary supergroup organised in December 1968 that featured Eric Clapton (Cream), Keith Richards (The Rolling Stones), Mitch Mitchell (The Jimi Hendrix Experience) and himself (as "Winston Leg-Thigh").
There are two takes of the live performance of "Yer Blues" appearing on the album for the special, this is the legendary first take of the song that appeared as Track 10, not take 2 that appeared as a bonus on the album version of the special.
Four Legendary musicians, and a great song to boot, this custom is tricky on mostly everything but that's what makes it such a fantastic tune! Also unlike The Beatles original, this version isn't blocked thankfully.
Me and a few friends plan on porting over this custom to "The Beatles Rock Band" eventually! But for now enjoy the RB3 custom which is coming to rhythmverse soon!
Song Facts:
"Yer Blues" is a song by the English rock band the Beatles, from their 1968 double album The Beatles (also known as "the White Album"). Though credited to Lennon-McCartney, the song was written and composed by John Lennon during the Beatles' retreat in Rishikesh, India. The song is a parody of blues music, specifically English imitators of blues.
Lennon said that, while "trying to reach God and feeling suicidal" in India, he wanted to write a blues song, but was unsure if he could imitate the likes of Sleepy John Estes and other original blues artists he had listened to in school. In "Yer Blues," he alludes to this insecurity with a reference to the character Mr. Jones from Bob Dylan's "Ballad of a Thin Man," and with the third verse, which draws on Robert Johnson's "Hellhound on My Trail." Instead, Lennon wrote and composed "Yer Blues" as a parody of British imitators of the blues, featuring tongue-in-cheek guitar solos and rock and roll-inspired swing blues passages.
Just after the album The Beatles came out in late 1968, Lennon performed a 4:27 rendition of "Yer Blues" at The Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus with a supergroup dubbed "The Dirty Mac," consisting of himself, Eric Clapton on lead guitar, Keith Richards on bass, and Mitch Mitchell of the Jimi Hendrix Experience on drums.
The performance was followed with a 4:49 boogie instrumental jam called "Whole Lotta Yoko," featuring dissonant avant-garde violinist Ivry Gitlis and vocals by Yoko Ono. The recording was never originally broadcast, and for decades this performance was only available through bootleg recording.
It was finally officially released, on both CD and video, in 1996.
Lennon's performance with the Dirty Mac was his first live performance since the Beatles' last concert in 1966 and may have contributed to his renewed enthusiasm for live performances in 1969.
