Rabin running into this situation at this particular point in his career was just like magic. He was at his absolute best as a guitarist, he had his greatest collection of songs that had not been recorded and his voice was at it's peak as well. He truly revived the fortunes of this band when they were badly in need of a shot of youthful energy, and boy did Trevor deliver that. This 83-88 period bridged the gap between old Yes and harder rocking modern Yes. They sounded relevant for another dozen years because of adding Trevor Rabin..... and Trevor was set for life.....
I was at this show with my brother. During the opening of Starship Trooper, a fight broke out right behind us and these two idiots tumbled down into my brother. He was so pissed, because ST was his favorite song. He strong-armed them away from him, while he tried to watch the stage. I was cracking up at the spectacle. Great concert!
With a talented band like YES, everyone at the shows has a good time front row to back. Saw them both nights in San Francisco Cow Palace 1984. Make up concerts for Trevor Rabins hotel pool injury that tour. Some woman jumped in the pool landing on Rabin. Think he ruptured his spleen and had surgery to remove it. So much for stupid pool stunts. The make up concerts were GREAT. These guys blow me away every live performance. Saw the reunion tour too ,with all band members and a revolving stage in the round. At Oakland arena. Seen them 4 or 5 times. Pure talent.
I was there and it will always be an experience I cherish. Yes will always be one of the greatest in my opinion. You can't just listen; it becomes part of your soul forever.
@@MontgomeryMall I saw this tour in a warmup date at my college in Feb 1984. A girl in the audience had a seizure. I’m glad they changed it and are much more sensitive to this these days. I have been to many concerts at Cap Center, but not this one.
Do you know the source of this footage? Yes also played this same venue in 1980 and if the screens were also in use then, there may be a complete Drama show in circulation
( only kidding. ) *. . .* Leland Palmer on the keys(!) . . . *(* in first year of highschool 'we' were given a crash course( by older ¥es fanatic fiends ) precisely what we were walking into in ' 85 ~ we viewed the B.Bunny opening act( one schoolmate was already "flying" )a n d proceeded to learn just how *invaluable* Mr. Rabin IS to this 'Senior Ensemble' *)* ~ people continued to tell us how "old" they are . . . Yes, they did it at the first two concerts in Columbus, Ohio (1 March, 1984), and, you might have guessed it, in Toledo, Ohio (2 March, 1984). After that, "Our Song" went out of the setlist and returned on their second North American leg between August and October 1984.
@@WowzaGuy Yes a purple hue caged in an essence of citrus, waiting for last slurps of pepper gravy to cue the Kings turn key...perpetuating the great swan to bleed on the minstrels cape
