Wonderous Stories song by rock group Yes.This is a marvelous song that just gets a hold of you from the first note. #musicReactions #musicReactionVideo #RockReaction
I was a young man once...when I first heard this. Nostalgia can be wonderful and painful at the same time. I miss myself as that man. The full aliveness of all my senses, brought to life by this piece.
It is sad and poignant to think back to our younger carefree days.. for the most part. Billy Joel once sang the line in Piano Man, " It's sad and it's sweet and I knew it complete when I wore a younger man's clothes"
Is it me? Jon voice imprints your frontal lobe and soul. On a bad day , my mind goes to his beautiful voice. I came late to YES in 1987. Even now I go back to their albums.
i absolutely agree 'Turn of the Century', a bit more tragic and emotional and certainly less joyous.. but i think one of Yes's most beautifully crafted.
I can still remember the thrill I felt when I first heard Yes. Early 70's. Love their work and the album artwork is exceptional. Progressive Rock. Rock on!
Great appraisal! My fav. group for the last 51 years, you have so much joy to come with this band, a 1000 people will vote for 'Awaken' me too, but there is so much. Thank you & VBW x
I LOVE this song! I grew up in the 60's & 70's and had known of Yes since they formed. Usually it's the earlier songs that get the attention but this was a later one & it blew me away the 1st time I heard it. I'm glad you liked it too! Thanks for letting me relive happier times for a few minutes.
I can't count how many times I listend to this and other Yes albums on my Walkman in the 80s. My son worked a Jon Anderson show last weekend near Philly...another generation exposed.
Given your wonderfully enthusiastic reaction, I’d say you are primed to become - a Yes fan! Another song or two, and I think you will see what this truly unique band is all about. Let me second a recommendation for “And You And I” (original studio version), and after that, “Turn of the Century” (with lyrics is helpful for this one). If they connect with you (I think they will based on this reaction), you’ll be on a journey with no turning back.
I have to thank you for not stopping and starting constantly. Many other "Reactors" stop and interrupt way Too much so, THANK YOU. I'LL BE WATCHING YOU, BROTHA!! XOXO
Harri, Same LP. "AWAKEN" it's long but a crowning Achievement! Rick Wakeman recorded in St. Martin's Church, Montroux. MASTERPIECE ✌❤ from New Jersey, Seen YES from 1972-1984 Enjoy the ride..xx
this song has such a beautiful, elegant, dreamlike feel to it... "turn of the century" is somewhat like this.. a bit longer and more involved... but, wonderfully elegant...
Yes! They are magnificent! I've seen them 4 times in concert over 20 years, I believe the last time was in 1995. Close to the Edge and Yessongs are albums you have to hear in entirety!
Wonderful! Yes is my favorite group and this song is gorgeous. Great reaction! You should react to their song, South Side of the Sky. Amazing! Or one of their earliest hits, Then, which is about how love is the answer.
They made this a fantasy song, that made it very wholesome. So pure and telling a story, as we. as children, would take, and make our dreams come true.
Hey Harri! Hope you're well. So happy to see you doing more Yes! Please do more you definitely won't regret it, Awakening is their magnum opus I have to say.
If you like Awaken, check out the Jon Anderson collaboration with Iceland's Toddmobile doing a version of Awaken with full symphony and chorus. Unbelievable really.
I bought this album on the day it was released with my first ever wage packet. It’s a really nice album and I consider it to be the band at their best. Nice reaction, just found your channel and subbed. I’d reccomend that you try out the other tracks on this one.
You really need to hear Roy Harper 'When An Old Cricketer Leaves The Crease' from 'HQ' (1975) or 'Another Day' from 'Flat Baroque and Berserk' (1970). Great channel Man - so refreshing to know that there are so many interesting and amazing records that were made just for the discovery and wonderment of everyone....keep diggin' (it?).
Yes's song The Gates Of Delirium has a closing section called Soon that you will love if you love this song. The song is over 20 minutes in length, but well worth checking out.
In my 20s I was a roofer, and Yes songs floated up often from my subconscious. Ethereal. And You and I ----- Yours is no Disgrace ------ Starship Trooper ------ Long Distance Runaround -------- Roundabout ------- Heart of the Sunrise -------- Wondrous Stories ------- I've Seen All Good People
If you'd like to hear some more upbeat and wild pieces by YES, check out 'Siberian Khatru' and 'Sound Chaser'. If you want to hear more beautiful YES, try 'And You And I', 'Awaken', and 'Turn of the Century'. Awaken is 15 minutes long. If you want to hear more epics by them (15+ minutes) then you'll want to hear 'The Gates of Delirium' and each piece from their double album 'Tales from Topographic Oceans' and finally their grand masterpiece, 'Close to the Edge'. There's at least 20-30 more amazing pieces of music by them that you'll love.
Nice reaction. Yes are a great band. You have to hear Awaken from the same album, it's one of their best. South Side of the Sky off Fragile album is a really good song. Starship Trooper is one you'll probably like off the Yes album.
If you are starting down the Yes path there is so much fantastic music these guys put out. Try both Turn of the Century and Awaken. Beautiful! Too many songs to name but I would recommend the entire Close to the Edge Album (Close to the Edge, And You and I & Siberian Khatru). That’ll get you started!
Yes has some very "less busy" beautiful tracks. A few that come to mind: Time and a Word, Children of Light, Clear Days, Nine Voices, Yesterday and Today, Onward, and of course what has been recommended many times, Turn of the Century.
Yay, I found your Yes reactions! If I may suggest, when you do Awaken by Yes, listen to this first. Wondrous Stories and Awaken comprise the B side of the Going For The One album, and while the band never actually said so, I feel that lyrically the two songs are related. In my view, in Wondrous Stories, we hear the point of view of the new spiritual seeker, being taught by his Spiritual Guide on how to progress spiritually. In Awaken, that spiritual seeker has attained Nirvana, and has come in to the presence of The All. Awaken is definitely worth a reaction; the studio version just as follows Wondrous Stories on Going For The One. After that, then follow with a watch of Jon Anderson's live performance with Toddmobile. But I highly recommend listening to the studio version of Awaken first.
Cool reaction. Seen Chris Squire and Yes the greatest show 36 times. Do yourself a favor listen to their first album side 2. It will get your soul. Then Sound Chaser will do.
I could imagine that you would then also like some of the songs by Jon & Vangelis (Jon Anderson). For example: "Love Is", "Outside Of This" and "Deborah".
I love Wondrous Stories; I saw Yes with the full band; they were wondrous. Instead of a support band they showed Bugs Bunny cartoons, the best ones. Hilarious, tho we were very stoned, but I think they were genuinely funny. I am a BB fan.
Well, if you really like this song, then you should just do the entire album. I think this is the weakest track on Going for the One. I still love it, but I love everything else more. Since you seem to have found a groove you like, I recommend you try Turn of the Century next, and then Awaken. Finish up with Going for the One and Parallels.
Ah hah, the old prog rock circuits are heating up! Have you listened to King Crimson yet? There's something a bit reminiscent of "In the court of the crimson king" here.
I love your review. It seems you really liked this song. I highly recommend you view a cover (comment below) of this song by the Progressive Rock Band 'Magenta' - friends of mine from Wales. They nail it with their signature 'Magenta' sound tied in. You will love!
So I've just tracked back through all your reactions and found 2 previous Yes songs, 'Roundabout' and 'Owner of A Lonely Heart'. No wonder you were surprised by this song 😊 So understanding now a little of what you'll enjoy you should listen to ' And You and I' and 'Turn of The Century'. Once you've heard those the penny will drop with you just how unbelievably great Yes are. They are both truly beautiful masterpieces in their own right. Only then should you listen to 'Awaken', 'Close to The Edge' and 'Gates of Delirium' 😊
The two albums 'Going For The One' and 'Tormato' have their own unique later 70's feel. This album is superior to 'Tormato' but it's an interesting period in Yes' career. The Prog is still there but it's not as heavy as earlier.
Impressive. When you have time try JACO PASTORIUS / the chicken / solo live. Don't need to react publicly. I just think you should be awared of him as bass player. He died long ago. Played with Miles Davis /Johny Mitchell /Gil Evans etc. Peace ☯️✌
