Live at the Rainbow Theatre, London, UK.
15 & 16 Dec 1972 ('Close to the Edge' Tour)
Yours Is No Disgrace
Yesterday a morning came, a smile upon your face.
Caesar's palace, morning glory, silly human race,
On a sailing ship to nowhere, leaving any place,
If the summer change to winter, yours is no disgrace.
Battleships confide in me and tell me where you are,
Shining, flying, purple wolfhound, show me where you are,
Lost in summer, morning, winter, travel very far,
Lost in losing circumstances, that's just where you are.
Yesterday a morning came, a smile upon your face.
Caesar's palace, morning glory, silly human race,
On a sailing ship to nowhere, leaving any place,
If the summer change to winter, yours is no,
Yours is no disgrace.
Yours is no disgrace.
Yours is no disgrace.
Battleships confide in me and tell me where you are,
Shining, flying, purple wolfhound, show me where you are,
Lost in summer, morning, winter, travel very far,
Lost in losing circumstances, that's just where you are.

The more Yes I watch, the more am I amazed by Steve Howe, and find myself wondering how he is not routinely mentioned as one of the top guitarists of the 70s. The application of jazz and chicken picking inflections into prog was utterly unique.

I have to say something - these guys were my first 'introduction' to what I recognised as musicians. They played as good, if not better, than their recordings, which at the time of this video was a big thing. Groups like Genesis moulded themselves on them. Chris Squires and Rick Wakeman along with Jon Anderson and Steve Howe became ledgends in the same vein as Eric Clapton. One must recognise talent for what it is, and these guys had it in abundance. 45 years later, I still enjoy their music.

I don't agree that Genesis moulded themselves on them. They both started about the same time. Genesis had a Pythonish sense of humor, and surrealism that Yes would never have. Not taking anything away from Yes. Yes rocked harder than they get credit for. If you said they both moulded themselves after King Crimson, I might buy that.

I saw them in September of 1972. 7 of us drove 5 hours to see them in what is probably a small auditorium, the Armory building in Minneapolis. Each one of us remembers the concert as life changing. Even as I wrote that, it sounded frivolous to say a rock concert was life changing, but it was. I know those of us still alive could never attend another live concert and feel like it was the greatest ever. I attended 3 more Yes concerts, one with front row seats in 1975, but no other concert made me feel like I was in another dimension, like one with the music. They created magic

Steve went complete beast mode. And the addition of Wakeman was so next level. The missing link

If you read guitar magazines you would se Steve Howe mentioned as one of the best guitarists of the ‘70’s.

This is the dreadful Bluray version where, because the film was damaged, the engineers copped out and decided to just lose several seconds at the absolute climax of Steve's legendary solo (at 9:50), instead of doing the restoration job properly and finding material to fill the gap. I call that shoddy workmanship. The original VHS video release was completely uncut and is the only version worth watching, despite the picture quality.

I did fall in love with yes when hearing these songs and others from yessongs, back in the 70's. Either this is not the original song, Or they are modified like you say. I still have the original yessongs CD and the songs are much better. It is only audio, but the real performance, and the sound is much-much better. (these one made me angry at the Steve's solo) The 6 wives of Henry VIII, has some missing parts, too. But even this way, I really enjoyed seeing Wakeman playing the piano there, just amazing, my fav all time Keyboard player . My dream used to be painting a sign on my car with the words "yours is no disgrace" or "Close to the Edge". We miss you Chris.

Always loved this song. Love this arrangement too. I saw Yes for the first time on this tour. NO it was the tour before this one. Bruford was on drums and Wakean played the keys.

Seen this many times but today was the first time I noticed the similarity in mannerisms of Alex Lifeson and Steve Howe. Plus the turn around by Howe and Squire to face the drums as White kicks in. Rush always said that Yes was one of their biggest influences.

As someone aptly & succinctly put it: LZ + YES = Rush - Until they became Rush- their own thing - which Neil puts at MP Album, but I put at PW 😆

Steve is a madman. Not only is he an incredible guitar player, he fired Jon Anderson from the very band Jon created. Yes. Saw these guys in St. Louis right after Yessongs was released. Blew my mind. RIP Chris Squire.

As a 15 year old teen just getting into music, Yessongs changed my life. Shortly before I heard Roundabout from FRagile and was totally blown away & had to hear more. So, I rode my bike to the mall bought Yessongs. Then, Relayer, Tales, and all the rest. 1st saw Yes in 1977, then another 20 or so times after, last time in 1991 with the Union Tour. Great memories of a truly Great band. Thanks for posting this, always loved the intro & this amazing song.
