I'll let y'all know that behind that cabin air filter tends to hold water on these cars. if you're dumping water at the passenger seat take that off and check your seal if it's been leaking there may be about a gallon of water filled up if it's real bad like mine was vacuum it out dry . you can get some silicone (rtv black i believe)and seal it. there's a video of a guy with a Lincoln with a walkthrough video of it these cars are known to do that. just did mine good luck 💯
I learned that the blower housing has a water retaining canister right next to it, and if that canister is clogged up at the bottom with dirt and mud from this particular filter that is not sealed properly and is not flushing the water out every time it rains, then the water level on that canister rises and that's when it seeps into the vehicle through the blower filter. I am guessing that this is maintenance that has to be made in the vehicle at least every 5 years. First and foremost, make sure that the drain on the canister is unclogged by using a small screwdriver to push everything out, and rinse it out by running a bit of water through it to make sure its clean, and then seal the filter properly on top so no leaves, dirt, or other particles come in and clog it again.
Or you can do what I did and take a piece of Sheet Metal Place it over the opening but leave a gap you can do that by making it a little bit bigger than the sides the cowling and the windshield and bend it to make it fit in there tight and that way you'll keep a gap and you don't have to screw it down you just cut it a little bit large and and wedge it in there and it'll cover it so no water will get in there and you'll still get air flow
Only problem is they didn't put an air filter there for a reason. You never put an air filter facing straight up on the exterior of a car where it's likely to get water and tons of bacteria build up which is only going to go straight through that filter or build up on the filter due to the difficulty of accessing it because if you knew these cars you would know just how brittle those cowels get over time if you continuously remove them. As much as everyone would love to think that that's what it was for I hate to say but Ford was right here and it's kind of a bad idea to put a filter there for that reason. You're only giving bacteria and allergens a lovely warm moist place to build up before it gets blown straight into your cabin.
Thanks for this tip the Ford Dealer advised me that there was not a cabin air filter on the CVPIs and this explains why they did not want to be bothered with this job. I' ll get it replaced on my own with an independent repair shop when I bring it in for something else like a service interval and will buy the air filter first.
There is a air filter down below that screen that's made of foam its attached to a door that you can push open you can locate it behind the glove compartment...your welcome....if you push it open the ac blows harder that's because the flow is smoother if the filter was clean then it would blow just as hard
Mr Random Reviews! I’m doing a 5 speed swap on my 06 interceptor in March! I’d love to share it also doing rear axel replacement, shocks, and interior! You’ve been such an inspiration Mr Random Reviews thanks brother!!!
Sad day for the channel 😫 you’re the reason why I got into Crown Vic’s I own a Town Car the first year of the new style in the 90’s not the shoe box model That thing was a beast I drove it till I hit 500,000 miles. I loved that car when I drove for Greyline in Orlando but it was leased and drove it back and forth to the airport 7x a day.
You dont have to raise your wipers and mark the place. You can remove them in the lowered position, just pull back at the bend and pull the tab. Can also reinstall the same way with no issues. just did it yesterday on my 00 base
That’s not a cabin air filter. It’s a screen filter. Notice how clean the duct behind it was until you knocked a bunch of crap into it? That’s because it was hidden behind a cowl cover that was designed properly to only allow clean and dry air to enter by making the air turn 180 degrees. Now, they don’t bother with proper design. They use cabin filters which are really debris and mold traps that have to be removed every 6 months for proper operation. Nice advancement....
For 100$ they can keep it , can buy any filter elment and wedge it between the screen and the cowl save you 80$, Thierry filter element literally looks like a floor buffer wheel cut to shape
It's not a cabin air filter! It's just a screen! Ford and many other manufacturers have done this where no acual airfilter is installed a cabin air filter also filters air from the recirculated air inside as elwell as outside.
@@912fast2furious It's just a screen. It's meant to keep leaves and debris out. It doesn't filter out fine particulates, pollen, etc. like an actual air filter would.
This is exactly what I'm going to do on my Crown Vic. I read about it some time ago from the company you were referring. I don't know why Ford Motor Co. didn't install cabin air filters in the Crown Victoria/Grand Marquis. The other Ford models had them, I not sure about the Town Car. R.I.P. Reaper CVP1, you will be miss.
I brought the cabin filter kit and installed it today. Installation was a breeze and now I have filtered air coming inside my Crown Vic. I give it Five stars. :-)
@@starrwoman1 Not needed. We just use a air blower to blow the original out. We don't want high maintenence . Now you need to upkeep your added on filter. Not needed!
Thank You ! Trying to find cabin filter on Grand Marquis 2008 LS . Im thinking this might be where it is. Some say i dont have one. But, smells like cigerettes when i turn on air cond.
Yoooo. The 04 rims are crazy on the Vic. I never thought of it, I least a brand new 04 Eddie Bauer Explorer and loved it. Years later I'm driving 04 Grand Marquis LS. Got it with 25k has 64 now. I definitely need to find a pair of those Wheels now... I wish spleen made a good knock off Mercury Marauder wheel i knew of
Will this air filter work on a 2002 crown Vic? I have severe allergies and my car smells like mildew and so I am in severe pain because mold and mycotoxins make my skin burn bad!
Hey that is a great video and I appreciate you being so descriptive on how to get to the cabin air filter oh, I've had this car for nine years and just found out and also that's where the water is coming in and why my passenger floorboard is always damp, I'll be ordering the cabin air filter ASAP
I have a question for you my 2002 grand Marquis when I turn off the motor and take the key out of the ignition it keeps jumping jumping like crazy and it won’t turn off the motor keeps knocking jumping and I do not know what it is do you have any idea what it is please text me and let me know
@Jimmy T I’ve read a lot and I believe there is a ground located on the driver kick panel or your cluster is falling you will need to remove it and send it off for repair
A few questions: 1) How do you replace the column shifter? 2) Do you know why every time I get gas, before the gas pump registers it full, it overflows? It seems like the fuel filler neck isn't where it should be?? 3) Where did you get the cold air intake?
I don’t have an answer for your first two questions but don’t even bother with the cold air intake those things garner no power increase and at times can make your car perform worse
Does anybody know how to access the transmission compartment on a 201p crown vic without removing the entire front end? Possibly from underneath the vehicle through the chassis?
There is a air filter down below that screen that's made of foam its attached to a door that you can locate it behind the glove compartment push it open the ac blows harder than it was that's because the flow is smoother it want blow as hard if the filter is not clean.
Why get rid of the reaper? In it's current state it would not be very hard to build a middle drop frame to anchor a double triangulated four link solid axle front and rear. So I will be looking for some explore wheels now 😎
Does anyone know the actual name of these mesh filters and where one can obtain a new replacement other than the link provided above? The website has not been updated in 4 years... According to several forums, Crown Victorias do not come equipped with Cabin Air Filters. This mesh filter on my Crown Victoria got so damaged over the years with the heat that the gasket was all fried and letting water and dirt into the blower housing, clogging the bottom with mud and preventing the water from flushing out, so as it rained and the water level in that plastic container rose, it leaked inside the vehicle through a foam padding underneath the dash behind the glove box. If anyone can give me some information on this particular part I would greatly appreciate it.
Damn, quite the operation. Don't know if this is easier or harder than in my 2011 Mazda 3, where you have to remove a PCB with screws to get to your cabin air filter
@@jimirsmith6247 no, that vent leaks watch the video. Also they make a cleaner that you spray in there to clean and stop any mildew smells from the AC. (common Vic problem)
Hey mr Random, I know you’re the marquis/crown Vic king so I have a question unrelated to the video I found new leather seats off of an 05 grand marquis and want to install them in my 99 MGM GS. Do you know if they are compatible? Thanks in advance.
Same here on my 01 Vic. Went thru car wash and had a puddle of water on floorboard. Got some ultra black gasket maker seal. Been sitting for a couple days. Going to go thru car wash tomorrow and see if it fixed the leak!!
shitty luck along with being a "normal" dude who works a full time NON youtube job...and being broke AF...just came out of surgery and have bills to pay...all my cars have been used to help the panther community in one way or another and put these cars on the map...before cletus or anyone i was and will always be the vic guy..unlike some youtubers who make $100k a month who can afford to do all those things...sadly thats not the case for me thanks for watching atleast
