Those of us who did just this yeilded not to the word and the temptation of the evil one but kept our eyes on Jesus are still here and fighting for the truth
1 Yield not to temptation, For yielding is sin; Each vict’ry will help you, Some other to win; Fight valiantly onward, Evil passions subdue; Look ever to Jesus, He will carry you through. Refrain: Ask the Savior to help you, Comfort, strengthen and keep you; He is willing to aid you, He will carry you through. 2 Shun evil companions, Bad language disdain; God’s name hold in rev’rence, Nor take it in vain; Be thoughtful and earnest, Kindhearted and true; Look ever to Jesus, He will carry you through. [Refrain] 3 To him that o’ercometh, God giveth a crown; Through faith we will conquer, Though often cast down; He who is our Savior, Our strength will renew; Look ever to Jesus, He will carry you through. [Refrain]
I remember singing this song in Sunday school and Church when I was 5 years old. They don't sing songs like this anymore, and that's so sad. My Dad use to sing all those old songs to us. Dad I miss you!
No sis, the true body of Christ abound and new generation that still sings this Holy Spirit given song and much more, please ask the Lord to lead you to His body where the cross centred gospel is being preached and men carry their cross and follow Jesus everyday ❤
So, why don't you ask the Savior to help you, Comfort, strengthen, and keep you? He's willing to aid you, He will carry you through... God bless this young man!
Here in 2023, I had a flashback from my childhood at Mt. Sinai Baptist church and looked it up on RU-vid, knew someone would have it out here. Thank you! ❤

Studying for nursing school finals! This is beautiful. Thanks man! P.S. Below are some reminders, truths to hold onto (for anyone else who wants to be encouraged). Jesus is present. He is able to be with you. He is with those BEING TEMPTED in order to help them and strengthen them. He is a man acquainted with much grief and sorrow, he understands. He knows the burden life brings, yet He is bigger. He said "come." "Come to me." Are you burdened? Are you weary? Are you scared of failure? "Come." He lets you join the "yoke," the work load, HE has for you. It is light. How do we go to Jesus? (Love him with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength.) "As a man thinks, so is he." (Prov. 23:7) Go to Jesus in your *mind. How? He has freed us from the dominion of darkness and transferred us into His Kingdom of light. Sin no longer has dominion over us. Fear no longer has a stronghold. Anxiety/worries no longer have a stronghold. He gave us the dominion to take control of our thoughts, stop them in their tracks and think. It's a beautiful gift we have to just take our minds and present them to him. You don't have to know what to think, just submit them to Jesus, be WILLING to have your mind think differently, to think like Christ. He says "we have the mind of Christ." (1 Cor. 2:16). Go to Jesus in your heart, your emotions. Change your affections. This happens because your mind is now submitting to Jesus. Instead of dwelling on the worries or the escape, or the temptation, start setting your mind on what the Spirit desires instead of what the flesh desires. The mind set on the flesh cannot please God. The mind set on what the Spirit leads to life and peace (Romans 8). Let your heart remember and dwell in His goodness and love. Let your heart love. Let your heart be changed when thinking about who He is. The God that was before time. He's powerful. He is orderly in the way He creates. He is caring and kind. How? We see it even in His creation.....how He makes and cares for the little birds and feeds them, how much more does He care about you? (matthew 6:26) Go to Jesus in your actions, even if it means changing your body posture or changing what you do. I'm studying for nursing school and have a few difficult assignments before graduation this week. Sometimes I want to RUN to the kitchen and EAT my worries away. But God is my strength...I know that those who run to HIM receive help, even if it's not how I expect....He is trust worthy. I will trust Him. I will Not let my heart be troubled. (john 14). Hope something in this encouraged you, spoke to you, reminded you of Jesus. His word is firm. His word is unfailing. We will stand on His word. And rest in the shelter of the Almighty. Thank you Lord, for all you are, and all you give us. Thank you for this awesome man who played so beautifully this song on piano. (Thanks man!!!) It's encouraging me to go to Jesus and press through.
This ministered to me so powerfully, I am in tears. I just went through one of the hardest things that I have ever had to endure. Thank you my brother.
Woke up this morning singing this song...God knows just how to Minister and encourage you...learnt this from primary school days....it's important for schools to have prayer and devotion some kids never ever will get the opportunity to go to church...God promises never to leave nor forsake you in tones of trouble.... hallelujah
I love your version of this song! I learned it from watching this video and have sang it many times at church. Thanks! Praise the Lord!! Yield not indeed!! Praise the Lord!!
Great Job Man! I'm a minister of Music at a Baptist Church where I've been playing for a year and a half! The pastor pops hymns on me like it ain't nothing! I'm glad I stumbled upon this bc it has helped me get the correct tempo and feel for it! Thanks again!
Dear Brother: Certainly you are a Real BLESSING!!!!!!!!# Do you know I have not heard this Song/Hymn in DECADES: Learnt from my Dad...One of his Favorites!!!!!!!!!📖📝📜⛅
Oh Amen! The last verse has been on my mind the past few days. You sing this as my soul wants to sing! Jesus, the Righteous One, suffered to pay for my sin while I was a slave. Now Jesus not only calls us brothers, but friends. Keep strong in faith. You sing so well.
You wonderful and anointed young man that made ER'BIDAY shout @ The Apollo when you were much younger as you sung "Precious Lord Take My Hand". Looks like "grandma/ great-grandmas'"very beautiful picture in the background. I heard her sing on one of the older videos. Stay strong Young King.
Hasan Green, this is one of my favorites (I love your videos). I grew up in the deep, dirty South, but I learned some very "clean" values. This hymn and many others are forever etched in my memory, because I had a grandaddy named Johnny Jenkins, Jr. who picked me up every Sunday for Sunday school. I also had a mother who made us go to church "religiously" (pun intended). This song is very relevant to me to this day. I literally just "yielded to temptation" a few days ago. The devil is always on the prowl to entice you. But, I did not "Yield to Temptation". Thanks for posting. Just lovely!!!
Thank you!!! God bless!!! I woke up this morning, just wanting to hear this hymn and God delivered. I did a google search for the lyrics, but when I saw there were some renditions I said why not...THEN I SAW THIS ON🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾 Old school new school twist!!! TGBTG
needed this ...on my way back to the pastorate/pulpit after leaving to look after my two autistic daughters who were not speaking...family is ministry also...but at times church folk feel pastors are invincible but we are just ordinary men and women helped by God (AJS)
I heard Aretha Franklin do this when i was a little boy. God bless you for resurecting this song for me. The lyrics really minister to me and i appreciate the purity inwhich you performed it.
M listening to this again after discovering it 3 years ago ..God bless you brother , he is definitely using you in a mighty way. Praise God, who forgive my sin and lift up my soul .
It's amazing how we as Christians old n young forget about thr basics or the little songs and scriptures that it took to mold us. For that i thank God for you man! I know for myself that the Lord works in moraculeous ways in he is definitely using you. Keep it up brother
Love this tempo ! I originally knew this from Al Green, was he a relative? Well done young man. Thanks for sharing. Stay happy, healthy, hydrated and safe. May God continue to bless you and your family.
Yo, Hasan. I was living in South Korea when I found this videos (2012). This song speaks so clearly about what our life focus. Jesus. "Yield not to temptation, for yielding is sin. Each victory will aid you, some other to win"! Words that cut, but give life. Thank you! I didn't even know this was a hymn. It's not in my denominational hymnal, but it has become my FAVORITE hymn, and whenever I am tempted I quote scripture, pray, and sing this song.
