This 80 minute yin yoga practice is focussed on the Heart and Small Intestine Meridians.
In our Functional Energetics sequence we started to explore energetic movement through the body’s subtle energy channels and discussed how this movement and harmonisation of energy is important for overall health.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Chi (or Qi) moves through 12 main meridians in the body. In more recent research, the focus has been on myofascial meridians that loosely follow many of the TCM meridians. Myofascial meridian pathways allow chemical and electrical energy to move through the body, these bands are part of the single connective tissue network that is present in every part of our body. It is these myofascial meridians that we work with in a yoga practice and that we will work with in this sequence. Often these meridians are worked with in their Yin/Yang pairs.
In TCM the Heart and Small Intestine meridians relate to the functions of circulation, warmth, our spirit and zest for life, love, the nervous system, and memory.
Disharmony in the Heart and Small Intestine meridians can manifest as poor blood circulation, heart palpitations or a racing heartbeat, insomnia, night sweats as well as feelings of sadness, desperation or depression.
The sequence we will practice seeks to restore some balance to the Heart and Small Intestine meridians, helping to ensure a healthy flow of Chi throughout the body.

Good to hear it is still working for you 😊 ….. does it feel different to the last time ? Perhaps it is difficult to remember ? I enjoy working with the upper body and starting to get those heart related energies moving …. It sounds like you do too 🙏🙏

@@YogiMoksha it's easier than earlier times and I can feel the energy moving. I've always neglected the upper body though I carry the most stress there and enjoy the practices. I'm consciously trying to change and your videos really help! 🙂

@@Kajo47 excellent - the more we learn to become aware of the energy the easier it becomes to move it through the body and as we move it more we clear any blockages in our energy channels we can be the cause of illness and ailments. As we practice with good hydration and diet we also allow the body to produce more energy/ prana / chi …. Stay on the virtuous circle ⭕️ Kajori 😊 ….. I have some short meditations coming soon that may be of interest …. 🙏🙏

Great practice as usual by you two! I love to learn about the meridians, to get to know a bit about the energy channels in our body. I have a question - is it advisable to do yinyoga every day? I do other exercise as well, like longer walks, shorter qigong practice in the morning, sometimes half an our power yoga, or hatha yoga, to get some yang happening in my system.

Hi Anna …. Great to hear from you …. as to your question …. It depends on your intention (as Bernie Clark one of our teachers would say 😊) …. yin is a great balance to yang, sounds like you have plenty of yang going on there, and also a great way to enjoy a more meditative practice …. I also enjoy the mobility aspect - working with connective tissues and joints and I very much enjoy working with energy which I find more accessible in yin …. For me I find yin every day is an essential part of my routine …. It allows me to enjoy the rest of the day to the optimum …. fråga dig själv "vad är min avsikt idag... vad behöver jag " som en del av yin lär du dig att höra svaret 😊🙏
