@@ethanpharo1948 spoilers Yeah, I agree. Adachi is Yu's antithesis. It's like they didn't need to have Yu battle a 'shadow' version of himself...because (in my theory) Yu already met and tried to battle with Adachi in the fog when he didn't know anything about the TV world. And Adachi is a separate person from Yu. Narukami is wholesome and a team leader. Adachi Tooru is a slacker who judges others and enjoys manipulating people and the situation in town, claiming that it's because he's so bored and has the power of a persona user & as a detective at his disposal.
I love how this song portrays Adachi as a tragic figure, like what would happen if all the wrong things that happened to Yu made him snap. It perfectly conveys the endless loop of thinking Adachi goes through day after day. “Everyone does things I’m not a part of” “I don’t understand why they do these things?” “I’m better than them, that must be why they don’t include me” Adachi *is* a tragic figure, trapped in a loop of loneliness and a superiority complex that all culminated in the Inaba Murders.
And I dont feel sorry one bit. There is tragedy in circumstance and then there is tragedy in self. Adachi's is a Tragedy in self, by wich I mean everything "Tragic" about him come from inside him instead of around him. These are things he can control or change but chooses not to and instead gives into them. Everything that happened is his fault.

"Glass was half-full for mine. And it looked half-empty for me" I love how this song shows how similar Yu and Adachi are and how Yu could have turned up like Adachi
Yu's comebacks are too good HAHAAHA. But fr. Yu is so great for recognising he could've been just like Adachi and is thankful for what he has, and acknowledges the power of circumstances and how it changed their paths. Y'know, compared to Akechi, who's full of anger and frustration because of his mistreatment, Adachi's full of indifference and condescension because of how lonely he was and detached he felt from the world. I really like their two characters and while Akechi's writing seemed to try and emulate Adachi's, they both have their own charms actually and are quite different. I really like the choruses and how it could apply to many, in that we become numb and the weights of life exhaust us. But we have to find meaning in suffering (read the book Man's Search For Meaning) and though we might get used to pain we shouldn't treat satisfaction or happiness with the same numbness and recognise things as they are. Let our lies and rationalisation go, open the door, and find the people in the world who have felt the same or only want to help. Any one of us could get lost in this justification for our loneliness. We have to reach out ourselves if we want to get out of that maze.
I know that the song is sort of obvious in what it's trying to convey between Yu and Adachi, but I still think that the song itself, aside from being a bop, has a lot of great lines in it that show their duality and how their views and experience with life differentiated what they did with their powers.

Metal Kingdom Productions cough cough (that happened in the original P4 anime, not in the golden version. But the golden version still had the Christmas scene which makes the whole thing worth it)
It’s just an alternate romanization of the Japanese pronunciation. The word-final “n” sound in Japanese sometimes comes out more like we say “ng” so the distinction when romanizing it is more of an aesthetic preference for native Japanese speakers.
