English translation Norway This goes out to those who think it's so fucking easy to make humor and skits You think you can do better? Fuck you guys, man It's not a fucking walk in the park... to put it mildly And for every skit we make we throw away probably forty Catch my drift? We were stressing and booked Lasse Kjus Was supposed to be in a skit to light his fart on fire and Lasse prepared his ass, lit up his gas I prepared the lighter but then we got second thoughts and then we put it on ice -Then we put it on ice No, Lasse Kjus farting That's no skit We put the entire thing on ice, man We don't care Made a skit about Robin Hood never learning to ride He had to sit in a sulky all the time and then he should say: Everytime I fire an arrow I hit... ...my own horse in the ass But at the moment he strapped the bow - We put it on ice Yeah, cause that entire project just felt fucked, man It's the worst idea ever Robin fucking Hood Who gives a shit? Okay people, now you need to get ready... for here his is, the king himself My boy Bernhoft Are you with me? Now the kids in the basement need to shut up, okay? But, fucking hell man, you spend too much time with that pedal shit Fuck it, new verse Were to make a classic vegetable skit, with a crazy funny twist Where the vegetable was boss and sold fresh humans off the counter A tomato came in with a gun to rob the shop But when the garlic jumped on him - We put it on ice Cause vegetables, they can't work in a store They don't even have a brain How are they supposed to relate to money and... night safe and those kinds of stuff Okay, what have you got for us? The King and the Queen are in They can be naked and they'll get the moose themselves. Fuck, we dropped that idea 20 minutes ago Fuck, man, we need something better We suddenly realized we needed to up things a notch and put my son at the top of a fucking long flight of stairs I took a fucking long running speed to kick the boy down but when I finally got there I kicked him down! I came at light speed and smashed the rascal It's the most funny fucking thing I've done my entire life People came to me on the street and said: Fuck, that skit where you kicked that kid... it's the funniest fucking thing I've ever seen You see? You gotta choose the right idea, bitch Just kick him, or stab him with a spear It ain't worse than that

(0:39) We put it on ice (0:41) Nah Lasse Kjus farting! Thats not a skit! (0:47) We put the entire thing on ice, man! (0:50) We just ditch that crap! Made a skit about Robin Hood who never learned how to ride a horse. He had to sit in a sulky at all times and then he was suppose to say "Everytime I shoot an arrow it hits my own horse in the ass!" (1:01) But as he was pulling his bow we put it on ice (1:07) The whole project just felt so fucked man! (1:12) It's the worst idea ever! Robin- fucking- Hood? Who cares? Okay folks you better get ready cause here it comes the king himself my boy Bernhoft (1:23) Are you with me? The kids in the basement better shut up now, Ok? But, guy- fuck it you're wasting to much time on that petal shit- fuck it, new verse! (1:31) We were gonna make a classic vegetable skit but we gave it a funny twist. Where a vegetable was boss and was selling fresh humans over the counter a tomato came in with a gun to rob the place but when the garlic jumped him. We put it on ice! (1:44) I mean vegetables- they can't work at a store! They don't even have a brain! (1:51) How are they suppose to handle money and night safe and those kinds of things? (1:57) Okay- what have you got for us? You? (1:59) Yes- Uh The king and queen are ready they can be naked and they'll provide their own moose! (2:03) Fuck, we dropped that idea 20 minutes ago! Fuck man! You gotta give us something better! (2:09) We suddenly understood we had to take it up a notch and put my son at the top of a fucking long staircase. I took a hellishly long running distance in order to kick him down, and when I finally reached him... I KICKED HIM DOWN! (2:23) I build some speed and pounced that little bugger! Ha ha! Goddammit, it's the funniest thing I've done in my life! (2:30) People came up to me on the street and said "Fuck! That skit were you kicked that kid is the funniest thing I've seen!" (2:37) Get it? You gotta choose the right idea bitch! (2:42) Just kick him or impale him with spit (2:48) That's all there is to it. -To put it on ice in Norway means to just get totally get rid of it-

I can`t understand why so many Norwegian dislikes the Bergen dialect (and people from Bergen in general). I`m from Sogn og Fjordane in Norway and I therefore speaks sogning (same as Bård and Vegards mother) but i love Bergen and the Bergen dialect. And this song is actually Bergen-porn for me, to listen to them singing in bergensk. When Bård sais "Du må gi meg noke bedrrre" at 2.05 its so fucking good!

Secondly - while I've not really followed their careers, they are comedians first and singers second. Its why this entire video is so weird (all of them really) - for its not really ABOUT the song, but rather about the show and sketches++. Hence why your 'use only English to get more famous' is ridiculous. Yes singing in English could make them more famous... except... they are not really singers. And they already ARE in our country.
@TemperaMagenta

Bokmål and nynorsk are written languages, not spoken. Most dialects aren't one or the other. What is more correct to say, is that there are more people that write bokmål than nynorsk. This isn't because of, but despite of their own dialect.

I think you have misunderstood. TVNorge did not make it to get popular; it was just a "Show-off" for season 3 of the TV series called "I kveld med Ylvis". They did not expect at all to get that many views, it was just for fun. I don't think that RU-vid is what they think most about, as they are a one of the biggest TV channels in norway.

oh really??? you know I was refering to that: "The Bergen dialect sounds more German than anything you will find outside Germany." because that's not true, swiss sounds german, dutch sounds german, even danish sounds sometimes a bit like german... and in all of them you can find german words with the same meaning... but norwegian sounds nothing like german, and the few words I could understand were "bitch" and "fuck", and they are not german, now are they???
@cecilieb3617

The German guy is right. The Bergen dialect sounds more German than anything you will find outside Germany. Reason: the heritage from medieval German Hansa merchants. The guttural R now rules western and southern Norway, southern Sweden and the entire Denmark. But nowhere you will a find a more german-sounding accent than in Bergen. Try walk the pavements of Bergen. You don't know the language. Where do people talk like this? Hamburg? Bremen? Lübeck? Sure. And... one plave outside Germany.

It's not difficult to learn. And if you know English and German it will be even easier. In comparison to let's say French, the Norwegian grammar is simple. When it comes to vocabulary - mentioned knowledge of German and English will already help you to learn it. People say the pronunciation may cause problems, but everything is a matter of practice. It is really likely you will learn it quickly actually :)

We put it on ice "We don't give a shit" Made a ketsj of Robin hood that never learned to ride He had to sitt in a carrige at any igiven time Then he would say Every time I shoot, I shoot my own horse in the ass But as it prepared his arrow.. we put it on ice "The whole project just seemed so fucked man" "It's the worst idea ever.. robin fucking hood, who cares?"

Thirdly - if one of the channels on your television are allowed to show the program this music video was shown on (unlikely)... THEN it would be texted in English. But until then... Rather than complaining about the lack of English text and or subtitles - ASK for a translation from those here on yt that UNDERSTANDS the language rather than insulting the artist/comedians and the video... not that a translation would be fully accurate.. But your comment does not actually inspire anyone to do it.

Depends on the 'fame' they want. Rather than going 'yay we have an international hit' they focus on the career and plans they have for now. They DO actually have English songs, the fox among them, so stop complaining. This music video was created for a Norwegian channel, for a Norwegian audience. Its texted because they use various Norwegian dialects as part of the show, and the dialects vary. Just be happy someone uploaded it at all rather than complaining 'Its not in English!'.

This video came out at least a year ago, possibly two. I for one sincerely hope they don't make videos in English any more frequently than they already did before The Fox. With all there is available in English and the very little available in Norwegian, the language is counting on them. Perhaps I'm selfish, as I am trying to learn Norwegian. Either way, I feel they should do what the majority of their paying fans want. Go find something in English to watch or start learning Norwegian.

ok let me explain to you, ylvis works for tvnorge, tvnorge reuploaded this video because tvnorge wants views, and the rest of the norwegian videos are from they talk show that they have in norway, they work 24/7 and i do really think that they wont move anywhere else or do anything else before next year, thsi is because they love their fans and they love what they are doing, and they are smart, they don't wanna get fucked in the ass. I know that they are planning something. just be patient

Lasse prepared his ass, and fired up the gass and i held the lighter ready. But then we though about it and laid it on ice. We laid it on ice. Lasse Kjus who farts is no sketch. We lay the whole thing on ice, dude. We dont care. Made a sketch about Robin Hood who never leard to ride a horse He had to sit in a sulky all the time and he was supposed to say: Every time i shot an arrow i hit my own horse in the ass But as soon as he drew his bow We laid it on ice.

Complete translation. Look for my other comments aswell since I cant get the entire translation in one comment. Norway, This one is dedicated to you who think its fucking easy to make humour and sketches. Think you can do it better yourself? Fuck you guys! Its not a fucking walk in the park, to say it gently. For each sketch we make, we probably throw away 40 You with me? Stressed and booked Lasse Kjus, he was supposed to be in a sketch where we light up his fart.

Lyrics directly translated. Norway This one goes to all of you that think it*s so easy to make humor and sketches. Think you can do it better yourself? Fuck you, it*s not a walk in the park to say the least. And for every sketch we make, we throw away 40. You get it? Stressed and booked Lasse Kjus, was supposed to make a sketch and light up a fart. And Lasse stood ready with his gas, fired up the lighter gas, i held the lighter ready. But when we thought about it, and we left it on the ice.

Song title means 'Put it on ice', rough translation of the song is that they came up with a bunch of pranks but they weren't worthy ideas so they 'put them on ice', aka dropped the ideas. The only prank they ended up liking was kicking Vegard's son down the stairs (Vegard has black hair). It's a parody of 'whiggers', white wannabe rappers and those who like to act all gangsta.

Well. The reason people who don't speak norwegian or german thinks this sounds like german might be that the city of Bergen had alot of contact with the Hansa. So much that they had their own legal code and didn't give a fuck about the decrees of the King. I'd say it is the norwegian dialect which resembles german and dutch the most.

The song is about sketches that they all trash just before something happends (about to light a fart, shoot a horse in the ass etc.) But the last sketch they were about to kick the kid, but instead of trashing the idea they actually kicked him down the stairs xD And they were like ''FUNNIEST THING I'VE EVER DONE!''

You do realize Germans actually use a similar R as to people from Bergen, right? And that both Germany and France use a similar R, where the German sounding more guttural being the biggest difference? If you want to learn the Norwegian "Oslo-dialect", you might as well practice the Spanish "R", which is similar/identical.

They make every genre of music: Norwegian rap - this, english rap - Work it, hiphop - pressure, metal/rock/powermetal - jan egeland, pop - the fox, gathering singing aka like micheal jackson did with heal the world - Sammen finner vi frem, jazz or something like that - the cain, culture music - Janym, norwegian pop - kjempeform, and stonehenge I'm not quite sure what genre x)

I don't think they care, this is a big TV channel, the payment youtube gives for the few videos in english that gets views, are not even close to the payment this TV channel gets from it's norwegian viewers. If everything was in english on a norwegian channel, it wouldn't appeal to most norwegians. We have BBC, History, Discovery etc for that.

You should definitely learn the Oslo dialect. It is considered the standard Norwegian and is probably easiest.
@IrinaLishanskaya

Isn't that a specific dialect of Norwegian? Considering that Bergen is a major city in Norway, one can only assume that's the area's dialect. Either way, I just wanna learn the generic form of Norwegian. Thanks for specifying though, I would've never known otherwise :)

This video was probably made en produces before 'The Fox' even was put on youtube. Maybe they will make more English videos in the future, but remember that the original public is Norwegian and that they maybe even don't want to be world-wide famous, for they are already famous in Norway.

This video is from 2011, I guess TVNorge is just trying to gather all their videos to the official channel. The Fox going viral was an accident, nothing was planned. New video will be be aired on the Tonight with Ylvis tomorrow, it's in English (there was a small teaser on yesterday's show)
