There is nothing "entitled" to wanting the product you want and/or promised. It is this relaxed mentality that has contributed to these companies getting away with making these false promises and inferior products.
I disagree. It is entitlement, and that's OK. People develop emotional attachment to things, it's how we're built. It's how we cultivate excellence. I'm more annoyed that we've demonized having expectations. People who want excellence now are regarded as annoying, difficult, etc. Sure, for films this is, perhaps, meaningless, but less so in other fields!
I think the same. Why change the original, even if those are small changes? Of course, THE WORST is StarWars SE. So pointless, so dumb, so George Lucas.
@@bananaempijama I don't mind special edition style versions of movies. I just think the other versions should also be available for people to watch/buy. Hell, for streaming it would be as simple as having a different version listed on Disney Plus. Remastered/recut/re-edited movies can actually be pretty cool. I would personally enjoy some touch ups on the animation in the star wars prequels that is starting to look dated, but if that meant that the original would be unavailable I would prefer to go without.
I'd say please be patient. The Kimba rabbit hole and whatever else Adam also wanted to edit set this video back and Adam himself openly admitted he still feels like he's editing one giant project in someway. The Highlights videos has been great at keeping one satisfied for now and there's videos, almost a year after he started, on Adam researching and editing for the Lion King remake that you can backlog.
His "I don't see a person, I see a performance" was the best thing I have heard this year bar none. This is thee issue with 99% of artists and actors and musicians I see
@@disgruntledcashier503 The hypothetical year off worries me he's going from basically 247 working to a year off. I think he should experiemnt with Mon-Thurs YMS, Friday is AdumPlaze and the he has an actual weekend off.
You know what's sad to consider? Adum is putting more thought and care into his production of Lion King (2019) YMS and what the final product will be than those working on the actual movie.
Look, to be entirely honest, this movie just doesn't deserve this much attention. All the 3D remakes are not that memorable. A decade from now it'll be erased from social consciousness. I remember Disney's 'Dinosaur' film from 2000 more than those movies.
Look, man. You have no right to criticize the name of my band's sophomore album. It's literally the best thing we ever did. You fuckers will appreciate it when we press it on vinyl for the 10-year anniversary.
The only emotional response I had to this movie was due to cub Simba's stupid face/expressions directly resembling my cat. He, too, always looks like there's nothing going on in his empty head.
"I have to start the clip here because anything over 10 sec. will be claimed." Maybe that was by design to prevent reviewers from safely criticizing these awful movies!
At this point, YMS's Lion King review is becoming the New Mutants of RU-vid, constant delays in production, allowing us as the audience to continuously wait.
@@pentelegomenon1175 prolly the first couple minute talking about how the remake is bad and when talking bout the og he just gonna address the controversy and then just non challantly come back doing the yms review, lol
HelloGreedo is a great dude. Him and Star Wars Explained are the best SW RU-vidrs. They're actually genuine people that don't resort to shitty clickbait and theories
The time card shifts should be accompanied by "On a Bike" by Heinz Kliessing because they seriously make me feel like I'm watching an "Always Sunny" clip
> Super unmotivated to work on this video Understandable. After that documentary about kimba he made I would understand if he delayed this by like a year
The stuff Adam was saying at 32:10 sounded like it was straight out of Synecdoche, New York. I hope he finishes this review soon for the sake of his sanity.
The original DVD of The Lion King did the same thing as he's saying with Evil Dead, where they extensively claimed that it was the original theatrical release. I hope he brings that up in the video, cuz I remember there being a big stink about that. Like, I'm pretty sure Don Hahn did an interview at the time assuring people that it would be EXACTLY as it was in 1994, and that didn't help the situation.
0:05 "Woah" "Woah" The amount of times this man has watched something he hates so much.. I'm not ridiculing him, I'm just impressed with how much he's willing to suffer for his work.
YMS highlight videos about editing Lion King 2019 review has more parts than YMS' Synecdoche New York analysis. Adam needs to release part 6 to match the balance.
I'm new to these editing streams and was wondering, is Adam planning to talk a bit about the Broadway musical in the review? It was constantly brought up as an alibi for this remake despite being far more effective in playing to a new medium's strengths and actually making meaningful additions to the story
The Broadway Musical "It was constantly brought up as an alibi for this remake " what do you mean by that, i know director of the broadway is one of executive producers on this remake, i don't get the full essence.
@@alfredokusuma9511In the intro to the art book for the film, Jon Favreau started by mentioning his thought process about the ethics of remaking the film, and by the end concluded that the Broadway musical justified it. And I believe he brought it up a few times in interviews and the director's commentary
Lol the audacity to compare this “remake” to the Broadway show, oh my goodness 🤣 Well, to be honest, both were made to help Disney make more money, but the Broadway musical had tons of thought and effort put into it. The additional scenes, the translation of the stuff in the movie to the stage, everything was nothing short of a stroke of genius. Which is something I cannot say for the 2019 “remake”. I actually wrote a screenplay for a film adaptation of the Lion King Broadway show and even made the character designs. I can’t wait to one day actually make this movie and give people the Lion King remake they deserve.
Like. I just keep thinking about how long Kimba was and how long he's been working on this. It feels like the shining. Like one of these days, hes just gonna be laughing on stream for 4 hours without stopping.
the lion king video is just gonna be 3 hours of him looking into the camera and saying "all work and no play makes Adum a dull boy" and then we'll hear in the news about a Canadian man that murdered his family of horses with an axe
Am I the only one that disagrees with Adum on the crocodile thing and thinks that the newer one is 1000x better (not necessarily saying that changing the original movie like that is justified, just that the change in this case was majorly beneficial)?
I have small problems with both. In the new one, the color palette and style seem a bit off. The style seems a little too modern and cartoony or like clip art. The original is a little unpleasant to look at. It probably just comes down to preference.
It really feels like John had a misguided vision by trying to make it look as realistic as possible. But once that novelty wears off it’s vastly inferior to the original.
These reviews have had more heart/thought and effort put into them than the 2019 movie itself and was waaay more entertaining. A big "thanks for going through all this shit for us" from me.
"I can definitely photoshop some furry porn in this... Yep! My motivation is back momentarily!" -Adam, out of context, if anyone is at loss of inspiration.
@@asinnerontheright I just can’t believe a talented, Oscar-nominated actor was outdone as Scar by a bunch of Korean pretty boys who don’t even act in the first place
Finally another one of these! EDIT: It's not quite as good as the other ones because Adam's clearly getting frustrated with missing the deadline and not having as much fun with it. Still good though!
@@michaelstrong5383 oh no, I was talking about the little eye color change in the shot of Simba. That little detail used to piss me off when I was like 5 years old.
I really like HelloGreedo. In his videos, he seems like a very genuine guy, and he does explore interesting topics about a popular franchise in Star Wars
I went to see that simba kissing nala video and honestly the thing that astounded me the most is that it’s considered a kids video by youtube for some god forsaken reason?
Adam, you don't have to cover everything that has ever been said about the Lion King. Control yourself or we will end up with another kimba video kkkkk (Actually im all up for it)
I love that they "fixed" the Simba presentation scene and added a continuity error in the process. Cub Simba has a stubby tail, but in the reanimated scene, he has a long tail with a tuft. Why do touch-ups seem to always make things worse and not better?
Adam questioned how is The Lion King 2019 a cash grab and i know the answer to that. The reason Disney keeps making live-action remakes of their 2D movies is that the average adult over 30 nowadays believes that animation is for kids if they haven't ever seen Anime or adult cartoons and even adult cartoons get misrepresented as "made for teens" so Disney knows they can get the parent market with their kids but also the older generation who enjoyed the originals but think animation is for kids because most of them won't know CGI is animation.
Eh... I think it’s because they want the viewers of the original film to give into nostalgia and buy the tickets for that sweet sweet dopamine that comes with remembering the good old days.
Around the 14:03 mark with the crocodiles... Imma bout to get picky. THE OLD version had DETAILED INDIVIDUAL BIRDS. Yes that may seem SMALL but little shit like that urks me. The new one has stupid looking birds that are all the same and moving the same bland way and I hated it. I may be the only person on Planet Earth pissed about this and I understand that but it is what it is. ALSO the Evil dead shit is 100%LEGIT. I don't even feel like I am watching the same damn movie with the stupid edits and it is harder than finding the holy grail to get the ORIGINAL FILM without that.
So he admits editing the lion king and kimba feels the same. Ha, he admitted they're the same. Finally. Heueheuehueehhe. Also why does it sound like they took the first take of any voiced line, no matter how bad?
If he puts the Lion King 2019 review on hold, I'll be way less disappointed than I would have been without the YMS Highlight channel. Still excited for the final product of course. But the people who were most anxious to hear his criticism have gotten a lot of that thirst quenched through this channel. So thank u :) Donate to the YMS Highlights patreon, guys!
I’m seeing some stuff about how Adam shouldn’t be upset about the Kimba thing because nobody cares or because he wasted time on it. He spent so much time on it because *he* cared. And I really appreciate the time he put into it. I hope he gets some rest after this.
