What's creepy about the opening is that they just dragged and dropped the .pngs of these characters into the scenes, they don't even animate any of them they just stand there.
@@TurtleRhythmI don't think they even need to be animated, but they're all just standing there, many looking at the camera. Its weird, they're not drawn like they're doing anything. Like the grocery store characters could be looking at items, on the phone, etc

Yeah, my coworkers and I basically communicate in Simpsons quotes, every Friday we have pizza before we start and watch a classic Simpsons episode. Kamp Krusty and Cape Feare are my favorites. I really don't know what I'd be like without The Simpsons and King of the Hill.

I think what makes it so uncanny is the fact that most of the characters are just staring off into the abyss. Some are looking at the camera or the main characters and they dont look nearly as bad, but the ones that just look into the void just look weird...
You can also tell who's a celebrity even though I've never seen most of them before, especially in the newer stuff. You can see they tried to make characters like Luke Skywalker as Simpson-y as possible, but in the recent ones they're more weirdly realistic but yellow.
I have to admit there was a bit of nostalgia going through this video, but the second I heard someone point out they were using old renders with PNGs just inserted, and I saw Hank Scorpio, I swear I felt my spine twist a little.

It's incredible how ugly and unappealing the newer characters are compared to the older more recognisable characters. It clearly wasn't just the writing that dropped off for The Simpsons.
Yeah people really don't talk about how much the shift in animation style killed a lot of the charm. It was really gradual either literally things switch very abruptly one season. It probably was when they switched from cel animation to digital
As someone who physically could not watch past like season 12 of the show because of how boring it got, imaging watching every episode hurt a lot to think about.
Content-wise, this isn't as awful as I was expecting. But once Adum showed me the side by side, I realized just how LAZY this looks and couldn't unsee it.
I've seen maybe a handful of Simpson episodes in my lifetime, but the intrusive collectivist in me keeps telling me to sit down and watch every single episode.
I still stand that there are some gems in the later seasons, but the Behind the Laughter episode in season 11 would be a great place to stop after that.
S6 is easily my favorite, and I'm sure a lot of others' as well, with heavy hitter episodes like Lemons of Troy, Springfield Connection, Maggie Makes Three, etc.

4K in TV is pretty impractical. The amount of storage space needed to save god knows how many minutes of 4K content for TV shows would drive costs through the roof. You're talking about making something a slightly better resolution for 10x the storage.

It's too much, but it is still impressive that they at least did this for the gag. I get that it's weird to just drag and drop everyone in place, but there's over 700 things here and some of these characters are from pretty far back. It feels fair to cut them some slack for the sake of the bit, right?
Season 1 has some very rough animation but should be on any Simpsons must watch seasons. Some good heartfelt moments and two hilarious Al Brooks characters. Speaking of Al Brooks, how dare you compare Hank Scorpio to Elon Musk. Hank actually cares about his employees.
Whoever called it dystopian is a bit of an overreaction. I think its kind of cute tho the reuse of some characters was a bit lazy. I’m sure there’s a few they missed that could’ve been used instead
I‘ve seen some episodes from the most recent season and thought they were actually pretty good… I’m not gonna say it’s amazing again like some glue-huffers have been saying but it’s definitely bounced back to at the very least being a respectable show! The couch gags are always the highlight still.
They made an episode with a character that looks like her avatar. She made a video about it. I'm not convinced that it was intentional, since the design is fairly basic, plus the character doesn't have the accent.
Its like they wanted to do another big couch gag intro like the Guillermo Del toro one, but then they realized that there are too many characters to animated. So they just used PNGs and rotocoped screenshots.
At 1:55, it feels extremely weird seeing the character with dot eyes next to that more “modern” character that was played by Whitney Houston (I think that’s who it was or Fantasia, not sure). They don’t even look like their from the same series.
7:37 The guy behind the door moves 😭 When the door’s open, he’s completely visible. Then, when Lisa kicks the door open again, his face is behind the metal pillar between doors. Not helping the offputting vibe that of these still easter egg characters.
I see the Simpsons like a 100 monkeys on a 100 typewriters. Most is bad, but every now and then the RU-vid algorithm sends sends me a clip I have never seen before from a later season and its not that bad.
