It's not because he's being honored -- that's great yet purely incidental -- but because all of these people are coming together to do what they love more than anything else in the world: making music. And if he helped them all in some way to do it better, that's where the true honor is.
Had to say, am I the only one who really loves Yo- Yo's beautiful face? That serene expression and genuine smile is a real scene stealer , not to mention hearts.
When John Williams came out, and integrated everything together - which only served to introduce JT, who then floated on the cloud of the children's choir....well..I'm not ashamed to say the tears began to flow. What an extraordinary honorific, to an extraordinary, consummate musician. Bravo!!!
I am in hospice with not much time left and I listen to this every morning. it's amazing what a great start it gives you to your day. thank you to all the artists.
The Zep was great. But so was the John Williams tribute. And hearing Ray Charles sing 'My Buddy' at the Quincy Jones tribute, well there wasn't a dry seat in the house.
The Kennedy Center Honors were amazing that year! Every single one of the tributes were a masterpiece and you could feel everyone wanted to be the best for the honorees!
Where do we find the words to describe the beauty and talent of this extraordinary man? The joy that Yo Yo excudes is palatable.Cello lovers around the world adore you.
This is just too good. The world at times can really suck, but when we have so much to gift each other. The joy the beauty the diversity of sound...just makes me happy to be alive. Doesn't art bring out the best in us.
I love Yo Yo Ma's music and he is well loved by a lot of people. Even though he came to the United States when he was 9 years old he has worked himself to where he is right now, and there won't be another like him.
Ain't no shame in crying to music Garyokee. I have been doing it for 50 years and found to be the best soul cleanser ever. So keep on crying to what moves you, so that I won't feel I am the one.Music can cure anything, crying to it is our way to surrender to its beauty and that a world without it would not be worth living in. God Bless.
Yo Yo is such a crossover Artist...this concert is a true illustration of how many different lives he touched and influenced. Truly magnificent. I am a classicist, but love all good, well played music.these musicians are the best 👌!
What an amazing tribute to an amazing man, this is one of best Kennedy Centre tributes ever, instrumentalists are very good and cool, YoYo Ma thoroughly enjoyed, so did every else, Anna Hathaway had tears in her eyes.
@patricia Y'all are the damn best. I'm honored to have the kind of support that you show me, thank you. How are you doing it is nice meeting you here btw
He is a fabulous cellst His touch and interpretation is wonderful. What I admire most of all historical apparent lack of flamboyance. I.o.w. Modesty. My daughter chose Gabriel's oboe with you in the mix to walk towards her husband to be and right up to het precious father who died of advanced altzheimers about 6 months after her wedding. She shared his musicality and certainly gave him all her love. Our favourite CD was always when you play Ennio Moriconne. My husband was a member of the RPO cello. Section for about 25 years. He has played in the Kennedy Centre and the Carnegire Hall. The RPO toured to Taiwan. We were heartbroken when he was diagnosed with early onset dementia aged 69!! Yo Yo you keep me inspired Elizabeth Hatt

I am so sad that I only found this video today. What a breathtaking tribute to perhaps one of the sweetest humans to ever live. Thank you for posting. 💕
2011 my grandma passed away and I was having a hard time dealing with it and this aired a few months later , and the one thing I held on to was, "sun sun sun sun here it comes"😢😢😢
Thank you so very much for posting this. It is a privilege to witness such greatness. I could see Michelle Obama and Anne Hathaway deeply moved during "Here Comes the Sun." I couldn't help shedding some tears, too. A beautiful, moving tribute to a beautiful human being. God bless you, Yo Yo Ma.
