When I was a little girl, I heard this music from radio, it was so beautiful and touched my heart, it became one of my favorite Tchaikovsky’ music. You You Ma’s performance is the best. Soul touching.
I woke up to this on my radio alarm. What an absolutely beautiful way to start my day. I had to make sure I found out what it was and have been enjoying it here. Thank you.
Reminder me I saw once about the musicals bannen during the Cultural Revolution to the the wasteland countryside. I saw a documentary how they found a score of this music and somehow survived their ordeal through planning those s ounds of hope.
Awwwwwwwe~ I stand in AWE~ with gratitude for the talent & gifts God blesses someone such as Yo Yo Ma! Effortless, soothing, and Inspiring! Thank you for opening up a New world of music that I Love~ @};-
If you go into the music feature on the Stryker inTouch hospital bed, this is one of the pieces you hear in that bed. I KNOW, because I've been in SEVERAL of them, in 2015 when I spent a month in the hospital and where I got my tracheostomy and when I became so much healthier because of the tracheostomy, and the ventilator. I remember music such as Pachelbel's Canon in D Major4, Bach's Air in D Major, Beethoven's fur Elise, and several other wonderful pieces. But near the end of the playlist was this piece. String Quartet No 1 op 11 in D Major. THIS LOVELY, this absolutely WONDERFUL movement.I LOOOOOVE this music. Considering, it helped me cope with not being able to speak on the ventilator, right after the tracheostomy tube was inserted
Commenters are falling into the there's only one way the music goes trap. This is a very personal and brilliant account of this piece - a burnished, soft toned, sighing reverie. Rostropovich is also great!
Inside the reporting of music playing during the August 8th, 1962, Marilyn Monroe funeral service---12 days before I saw my six birthday candles go out. A month before my first school year began.
Music like this should be honored. The way Yo Yo Ma plays it is simply astounding as he honors it as if it was his god. I don't know if he's Christian but I'm definitely sure he ain't atheist.
I disagree vehemently with Steve Fox that there are others that are better than Yo Yo Ma playing this piece. The only reason that I can think of is that you do not like Yo Yo Ma's soulful playing which transcends everything.
