They went with 6x3 150mm guns when they should've went with 6x4 100mm guns. Yodo would work significantly better with Harugumo guns: more anti-air, more penetration damage and more fire lighting capacity.
@@AKUJIVALDO The fact you think I meant a cruiser with Harugumo's 12.6km range and not a cruiser with Harugumo's 1/4th high explosive penetration really means your comment applies to yourself more than it does to me.
The historic Type 5 15 cm gun had firing cycle of 6 seconds in a land based installation. I have no idea W-T-F Wargaming was thinking to nerf it to 12.5 seconds,
The real problem with the Yodo isn't that it's "bad", it's just that it's basically a T10 Ibuki in the 2023 ships meta. You can play it, but no matter how good you do in it, you probably would have done better in pretty much any other T10 cruiser.
12:43 When you’re a DD and MM favors a streamer. That’s RNG folks, that’s the Rig. Your skill as a player, modules, captain skills, and flags don’t mean a darn thing. When it’s rigged, it’s rigged. Hands down, RNG and outcomes are pre determined in this game. Nothing is “Random.”
DesMoines have autoloader like modern tank but not Yodo. Imagine Yodo with same reload of DesMoines with this 6 seconds travers turret and 18 cannon + shima torp BRRRR machine + perma fire + DD torp = Best light cruiser of game
Many people pick meta ships not just because they want to top the scoreboard, but also because they know 9 times out of 10 they need to team carry. I like playing all ships, but im left with a bad taste in my mouth when i pick a ship that's only good for supporting and my team dies the first minutes of the game.
@@Tsnelo well.. at least when in Zao you can dodge and HE really punch a lot of ships with alpha and penetration. Yodo? HE can't penetrate most BB, mostly only superstructure. But... my friend like it though. Torpedoes are the main weapon but you know torpedo is not reliable and if you want to play torpedo boat so much, Jinan has better torpedo
@@meganoobbg3387 That's my point... you control nothing in the game. You have great torpedoes gimmick but if there is nobody spots the enemy your torpedoes will be useless
11:47 "Is not as maneuverable as you would expect something that has so many fast turning turrets". Worst turning circle than a Yamato, figure that WG reasoning...
It's not that Yodo is a bad ship. If you just look at Yodo compared to other cruisers the stats aren't particularly bad in any way. The armament doesn't feel anemic nor is it in reality. Maybe it's not the best light cruiser but it's a decent addition to the tech tree choices for light cruisers. Except that it has no good way to handle overmatch. If a red can overmatch you all you can really do is pray you aren't on the same flank or that they're really bad. You have insufficient armor, stealth, no smoke or even speed boost. All you can do is dodge while you run, if you're lucky and there is somewhere you can get to fast enough for the lucky salvo not to kill you from the citadel of a single shell. Yodo is honestly just another addition to the cadre of ships that are rendered sub par or bad because other parts of the game are not properly balanced (subs, cvs, overmatch etc). I don't think it makes Zao feel like a supership but it definitely makes Zao look good, I agree.
It has 17k less HE DPM than the Helena. 2k more than Cleveland with the reload module. It has good (for IJN) torps, which means great zoning with a longer torpedo reaction time than anything other than 20km Shima torps. It has just enough armour to proc fuses with just too little to bounce even 406 at the belt with a citadel size and protection comparable to T6 cruisers. Not great when you're almost as big as Stalingrad. No utility consumables, and less maneuverability than Yamato (30m worse turning circle) leaves it to excel at AA only where it is about on par with Neptune.
They will, cuz their popularity won't be better than the pan-asian ones. 3 things can make em decent - either make their fire-rate average, have them be able to equip both AA boost and hydro at once to make em desirable for random battles, or the best option - make their armor trolly like the Smolensk, so their citadel is hard to hit and AP gets mostly overpens on them.
Far from me to say that Flamu isn't a good player, but I prefer Flambass's style of pushing and using torps as area denial. Flamu shot his torps once in the whole battle.
I just don't get this line, it should have a lot better AA based on the armament, all of the ships except tier VI-VII handle like a battleship, US level balistics but the shells are a lot slower, bad reload. You can't really get close, because the ships are huge,. The only real way to build this ship is to fully spec for torps and use her as a meme template.
@@rcflem 1) A portion of them were fighters. 2) The cv player was not very good. 3) He was not very focused by the cv. 4) It was a tier VIII cv. If the enemy player had an actual brain and a good pair of hands, Yodo wouldn't stand a chance. The AA should be theoretically better considering you have 18 dual purpose 150mm guns and yeah, Yodo has quite a good range (6,9 km)and a good long range aura but when the AA is considered as a whole, it is lacking behind, average at best. However, your other characteristics make you a very favorable target for cvs, which devalues the AA capabilities of the ship. There is another thing to consider, you are forced to choose between DFAA and Hydroacoustic search, whereas other comparably strong cruisers in terms of AA very often do not have to or it is an ok choice for them to have DFAA over Hydro. Hydro is a must have for this ship. I did not write this as a hopeless cry to make wg buff this ship's AA, because honestly it'd change nothing and it is the least of its issues. I am just getting a bit frustrated over WG's shitty management of this game.
I wouldn't even call it T10 firepower, IJN 127mm don't have improved pen, so you are depending on RNG for fire dmg, as they don't pen most BB's armor. On top you get 10 sec reload instead of the fire rate of Colbert, nor do you get the shell arc of Smolensk. On paper it may have a lot of dps, but in practice not really.
2 yodo's or 2 jinan's can throw out a ton of torps which is great for this game mode. i imagine this ship is very difficult in a campy random game though.
That camo Trenlass has is from the Japanese Cruiser event in the armory. You could only get it for Japanese Tokens. Which is a shame, such a good camo on such a mediocre ship.
it would be better if it was at least an 8 second reload. but sadly you need AR and a kraken just to see 7 seconds with it, and then it really spits out fire after fire.
Was waiting for someone to say that. I tried this mode a few times and all I can say is, whats the point? Noone gives a shit about the objectives and just plays like any random battle
I think the dev team explained Yodo the best.... Not impressive in almost every way....but you have 18 fast firing guns giving you 18 chances to start a fire from 18k away. lol
_"I'm not a big fan usually of cruisers that depend on torpedoes._ *_Because that's not how you're supposed to play cruisers."_* Flambass not a student of Naval History, confirmed, because that is *EXACTLY* how the Japanese trained to "play their cruisers" IRL. Heh-heh. A crowning example of how this game has distorted things to the point that I'm not sure if you could win using _actual naval tactics._ Definitely an Arcade Shooter and not a Sim; despite the ship detail and game mechanics (for shooting/maneuvering). A pity really. I'd hoped for more.
It's not a bad ship, especially in this mode. You do get overpenned alot, so Trenlass is wrong with that statement that it's like Smol without the overpens.
Do WGing intentionally release ships underpowered for fear of upsetting the game balance and then slowly increase over time. Or just ineptitude? Then again the paid for ships tend to be unusually strong, so I think they know exactly what they are doing.
you can say it's not a bad ship because you have a brain and hands flambass, the average player doesn't. I mean look at the bourg that spammed HE at you instead of shooting AP
Hey, this ship is not that bad! - Flambass. Me: Yeah, you were shot once by AP and got lucky. Other than that only HE shots... BTW damage:121K damage on 217 hits XD That is 550 average. BUT you scored 2 torp hits. and 8 fires. But let's remove the 40k for the torps. 81K with guns (direct and fire) which makes your damage per hit to 373 XD And you were lucky for only shooting BBs where you actually land on them... This shit cannot turn, no speed, no guns, no armor. Hit with torps or you are useless :D
Just goes to show how potato this game’s audience is. They don’t even understand the ballistic mechanics of the game and have the audacity to spew their wildest dreams, while denying any sort of explanation by blocking. Just great. Average potato team experience.
Your achievement is outstanding, and you stand head and shoulders above the rest. Keep on growing, keep on achieving. I believe in you and the incredible things in store for your future. Congratulations.
i can only wonder how good this bots in the game are. not the coop ones. they are shit. but there are more bots in game than i thought, and they are better than humans.
