In this Yoga for Cyclists sequence, yoga teacher and personal trainer Sandy LeBlanc takes you through a ten minute standing sequence to stretch out your quads, hip flexors, lower back, shoulders and hamstrings -- pretty much everything that gets so much abuse from cycling!
Sandy has studied several yoga traditions and holds multiple certifications. She continues to run half marathons, occasionally dabbles in triathlons, and loves cross-training with kettlebells and TRX.
Sandy is going to be offering live yoga classes on Muuyu this fall, so click here to learn more.

Wow! That was great! I recently advised a friend to start a regular yoga routine to fight general and various aches and pains and it occurred to me I should take my own advice. I am a cyclist averaging 80 to 100 miles per week. I landed here in my search for a quick yoga program and I hit the jackpot! I feel much better after just 10 minutes.

Excellent sequence Sandy, really felt the benefit compared to my usual yoga routine post cycle. Favourited so I can come back time and time again :-)

After a ride, I don't want to hold a worrier pose, I want something with a deep stretch. 1 leg pidgeon, forward folds, etc. This however would be a great cycling warmup routine!

In my opinion, the warrior posture is the last one you want to do after a long hard ride. Your quads are very tire and need stretching. Applying force again does not feel right.

If you're equally standing on both feet it should gently stretch your quads, not aggravate them

Nicely done, thank you. There was indeed "Some things going on" in various bits of my body. I've bookmarked this page so I can come back to it: now, I need a post-ride shower.

Good stretches, but since the stretches got to do with "Yoga",I would suggest u tell the people how to "breath" too, while stretching, because that is what makes the stretches impact and special.

I thought warrior one is foot behind at 45 degree angle with that stretching out the heels makes it quiet awkward. Otherwise nice sequence and some good stretches. Thanks

Thank you! I have some tightness in my pecs minor muscles and deltoids, which can spread around the scapula , and in the armpit area in my right side. I also work at a desk but I also cycle everyday. Is there anything I can do to relieve this stress in that area? Thank you!

It's been 5 years but still no answer to your comment. Did you stretch that muscle or still the same!

@@ugastronomie1237 haha! I answered my own question in the end. Pilates and leaving my desk job did the trick. Thanks for you concern :):)
