As an Indian kid we’ve always been taught the power of yoga and breathing exercises. But I had stopped practising it since a few years and since the past few months I’ve been noticing an irritation and pressure in my bladder. Practising the exercises shown in the video and especially the importance of breathing makes my body feel extremely rejuvenated and my back muscles feel very relaxed. I am going to continue this and hoping to see my bladder ease over time. Thanks a lot for sharing

Thank you Melissa. Always enjoy your instruction. Still learning importance of breathing properly. Should pelvic floor be tightening on exhale? Or just relaxed?

You are welcome! All depends on your goal and the exercise. If you are doing a stretch to relax and open the let the exhale go, if you are working on functional strengthening then on the exhale the pelvic floor lifts. Try not to think of it as a tightening or squeezing. We want our pelvic floor and core and activate and lengthen to help with all of our daily activities. Keep up the great work!

Should I stop lifting weights if my pelvic floor is tight ? Can it stop my progress after doing this exercises ?

I always recommend checking in with your doctor for what’s best for you. The key is how you are doing exercises and optimizing the core and pelvic floor system With those exercises.

It's all about how you are breathing. Sometimes if we are taking a really big breath, breathing into chest or belly this all creates more intraabdominal pressure. Sometimes certain areas need to be addressed first like tight hips, back, abs, and more.
