Ive seen that guy’s video and so many others who praise the YN 216 light. I did end up buying it. It is good to consider soft box options for such a cheap light though
That was a great tip for attaching a soft box. I never thought of using a universal soft box for flash guns, but it seems so perfect that I ordered on yesterday. Thanks for that tip. Why do you unscrew your barn doors? If, with the light facing you, you turn the complete barn boor mount anti clockwise then you can separate them from the light fitting. You will then not have the hinges in the way when inserting the light into the soft box. May be a bit stiff at first, but it just means you don’t need to unscrew every individual barn door.
You will realise when you get your soft box why I removed the barn doors. I also never understand what you need them for. I guess it is protection for the lights but I saw no use for them. But if it works the way that you describe. Then go for it. Nice to hear that you liked the video. Please help me share the video...
I think you are missing the point. You do not have to unscrew the barn doors. The whole barn door unit comes off with just an anti clockwise turn. Very simple and quick. No screwdriver required!! It is all explained in the Yongnuo 216 user manual.

Great video, I have a question. What is the heating like? I know these lights have fans I have 4 of them but in the video it looks like you cover up the air vent with the softbox. Does it affect the light at all?
