Mikey, Tech Tip: Always keep your face away from any large breaker when closing it. Stand off to either side when pushing the handle up…if anything were to fail, the door can blow off…I’ve personally seen several failures on 480V, 2400V, and 13.2KV breakers and none were pretty. Teach all your guys, and for safety sake, try to keep your lockout key management to one person. With 2 people with keys, mistakes can be made, just saying
@chuckquinn8026
@chuckquinn8026 2 года назад
@@davedube1148 Mike alone should have kept the key. The electricians should have had their lock(s) on a lock out device on the breaker also per OSHA standards

@@chuckquinn8026 Good advice. For the record, I do the rigging and the electric. It's my life and I'm not trusting someone else with it. I'm funny that way after so many years without an injury.

@@arthouston7361 bingo. 40 years in oil refining. LOTO (Lock Out/Tag Out) was a 24/7/365 way of life. LOTO boxes with 12+ identical locks inside were used for every job. Key for locks was locked inside the box and a different lock was on the outside of the box. Different crafts/contractors put their lock on the outside of the box preventing anyone from opening the box without their knowledge/permission. Tag on box matched equipment out of service. Each box had different numbered locks inside. Was a pain until you got used to it and saw the safety it provided. Mikey’s crew could use a training exercise on LOTO for commercial equipment, as well as residential equipment. Nothing like a homeowner turning a breaker back on out in the garage while you are working on his boiler/furnace/air conditioner wiring…even just a tag would be better than nothing 🤷‍♂️
@throttlebottle5906
@throttlebottle5906 2 года назад
ditto, one person with the key and never stand in front of electric panels/disconnects/switching gear, when it's being switched or cycling. worst case, the key gets lost and you take a grinder and cut off the lock. you can keep second/copy keys in a lockbox in the truck.

I was thinking that same thing when he threw power back on and when he handed thee other guy a key. Only one key per lock out lock

Hey Mike! I actually install a lot of York RTU’s. Unfortunately, these units with that specific board on them (SSE board) are extremely particular. I would highly recommend you get ahold of York tech support and do a full start-up procedure on that unit. Going through your fan speeds for heating and cooling, VFD module, making sure you are set to the correct blower motor type, gas pressures, belt tensions, etc. If you call York tech, they can go through this unit with you and ensure you have everything set up correctly. Or else you might have call backs. Johnson Controls owns York and they love to over engineer products. Specifically this board is a POS. Hope that helps!! Love the videos!
@arthouston7361

I think you are being kind with that POS acronym. It's junk. And trying to do that setup without experience or the MAP gateway...I hope he has all day.

I was just going to say the same thing. Also go back and download the equipment specs onto a thumb drive and leave inside the unit. If the control board ever needs to be replaced it will come new blank and you will need to enter all the specs manually.

A suggestion. Drill a 1 1/4" hole through curb. Mount a 6x6 outdoor electrical box and run your wires in emt. Easier and much safer then having to have bodies under bit RTUs. Can be done while old unit is craned off and new one craned up. Silicone the edges of box and done deal

Mike as a past union member I totally agree with you about the "hanging out" and total waste of manpower. Where you service some commercial establishments maybe it would be in the best interest not to add any banter pertaining to union workers. I can tell you in Philadelphia if some die hard union member heard that, your jobs likely would be sabotaged. Stay safe Mike, love your dedication providing the best service possible to your clients no matter living in a Taj mahal or the beach side bungalow.

cables and rigging usually make a fairly nice clean cut where they hit you. a hardhat or other junk in the way? it gets broken into jagged rough bits and embedded deeply causing far more damage. just like seatbelts and air-bags, while they can help greatly, they can also kill and maim in the wrong situation.

Nice. This is my bag baby! I did residential for 10 yrs. and now commercial for the past 15. I’ve been on many many rigs. One thing I always dread more than anything is when the previous knuckleheads screw the duct drops to the unit from underneath. Then you’ve got problems. 🤬 New curb gasket, set her down, trim out the economizer. Once sparky gets her powered up, check rotation if you don’t have phase monitors installed. Pipe, wire and fire. Make sure the alarm system is disabled when you burn in the heat exchanger. Adjust manifold pressure on low and high fire. Install the trap on the condensate. Hook up the remote shutdown (duct smoke). I don’t usually hook gauges up unless I suspect an issue with the cooling. Finally, there’s the economizer set up for minimum position and dual enthalpy if available. Building automation can be tricky sometimes, especially retrofitting new equipment to old or obsolete BAS. Nice work guys. 👍

@@boby115 Yes. It opens up a can of worms sometimes with humidity control in summer. The unit HAS to be sized correctly, usually for a 10% minimum. Any more than that and there is issues. I try to explain and they won’t have it. Also makes the filters get dirty quicker etc. That and there’s a movement toward MERV 13 or better filters which can create airflow problems not to mention they are hard to come by with shortages.

Good job following lockout tag out. Next time mark your line and load with color electrical tape. Three phase 208/ or 480 volts. To prevent motor spinning in reverse. And possible motor burn out.

Yes. Scroll compressors don’t like running backwards. 👍

Now you get to have SSE board issues. How long will the OEM board last? Maybe two years. I can't count how many I have replaced. Lots of spurious sensor failures, too. Put the Norman tech support line in your phone. Now, if you want to stress test your techs for wiring diagram understanding, take the panel with the diagram from the old unit and get them to explain the heat call to you. There is an isolation relay, a draft motor relay, and a fan delay board...that green one in the center. The older units have several relays. For a new kid, it's a lot to take in. Any step along the way can stop the call. There are two separate heat calls. Then, you have primary and secondary limits (one has a reset button!) a centrifugal switch in the draft motor base, and the rollouts, two in one package. The rollouts are a notorious failure point. The ignition modules have an input from the rollouts, and even a small drop of voltage, for just a moment, can cause the module to reset its timing. How do the main burners light? My bet is that they won't ever have seen this process, using a crossover tube. I would set aside at least an hour for that lesson.If they ask questions or they need to get it right during the lesson, allow for a break and a second hour. If you have access to the old unit, get them to show you where all of the safeties are located, too. That way, they will be ready to run a no heat call on one of these units.

Yea don’t forget too remove the return and supply panels that’s important I use too remove them while it is in the air above the opening then drop the unit in place

With VFD drive on blower motor it will generate correct rotation regardless, compressors rotation needs to be checked in spring Tank-less Master.
