Jeff Horchoff I have a mild phobia of stinging insects, but appreciate the importance of bees and also add my thanks for protecting this important piece of our ecology.
bees usually aren't that aggressive and do so much for the environment. i'm content at just getting out of a bee's way. red wasp? i'm killing those with 0 remorse.
Yes, bees are one of the main important things for food production - as without them we would have only a few months worth of food to feed humanity on Earth! Many main foods would disappear within months of there being no bees to pollenate plants. Say goodbye to apples, coffee, corn, avocado and others. My main concern was that the way they vacuumed the bees up that the ulk of them would die...
zfa Have you ever been stung by either a Bee, Wasp or Hornet? When I was 14 yrs old me and a friend were walking along a Scottish river near Edinburgh and my mate being in front (he knew where we were going) accidently kicked over a Hornets nest that had somehow got onto the path. They were really pissed! We ran like hell. He got the brunt of the stings as he was first in line both coming and going. I think he got 70 or so stings. I got away with a mere 43 stings. I do not recommend the experience! BEE careful where you put your feet out there in the woods!
Jeff Horchoff I never thought of removing a wall hive like that, and using it to great a bee box hive. Is this a standard practice, when folks have a hive in their wall? About 14 years ago my mother in-law had an infestation of what was refered to as 'carpenter bees'. I had never heard of those, until then. Are they diffrent than honey bees? Is there a simple way of telling between them? I'm pretty sure I have a hive in one of my walls. During the summer, you can hear a buzzing bee sound in that room. And it sounds like it's coming from an outside corner wall. If it is honey bees. Do they do a lot of damage? As I know honey bees are important contributor to the human food supply. And I'm surrounded by farm lands. If they're honey bees. I don't want to disturb them, unless it is necessary. I'm *extremely* allergic to all types of stings. So I won't get close to anything that buzzes. I was aghast to see some weren't covered up. Then the guy with his fingers all bandaged at the end. Made me shiver.
it always warms my heart seeing bees getting relocated instead of killed off, especially when the hive was thriving so well in its previous location, thank you
I really love wrangling bees and sharing the experience of it to help raise awareness of the need to save bees from being killed. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my be wrangling adventures on my channel and let me know what you think of them. God's peace. Mr. Ed
That reaction is pretty much what every homeowner experiences when I show them the bees that are in their house. After they pick their mouths off the floor in disbelief, and steady themselves from the shaking fit, their first words are," I don't believe this" But after about 4 hours and all the bees and comb are gone, all is back to normal. These bees are doing fantastic in their new home, and next spring we will get honey from them as well as split the hive. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
The only reason I didn't do a time lapse is because the camera got moved so many times. It still went alright I thought because viewers did get to see the entire removal. This was a really fun one because we had so much help, and the job went so smoothly. Thanks for watching, and I hope you check out more of my channel and let me know what you think. God's peace. Mr. Ed
I agree. I love saving the bees from being destroyed and reloating them where they can go on helping our enviorment. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
maris5951 i would of shot it with my 12 gauge, me and my buddy are lookin for more stray cats to kill for target practice for deer season give me a call if u would like to sale your cat 50 a fur we love to hear them scream and whimper by barely injuring them its fun!
Whatever it takes to get the job done right and save the bees. I'm hoping you will check out more of my bee wrangling adventures on my channel, I have over 250 of them, and let me know what you think about them. I have been saving bees from being needlessly destroyed for over 6 years now, and I pan on doing it for many more years to come. Thanks for watching, and I hope to hear from you again. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Definitely will be! I didn't expect to be so fascinated by bees. I came here just looking to find out how a Queen bee is made and have found a whole little world in these amazing insects. Very cool!
Impressive! My skin was crawling looking at those bees, don't know how you do it! I had some questions Mr Ed. I'm so curious... 1. How on earth do you located the queen amongst all those bees? 2. Is this a special vacuum? Where do the bees go? Don't they get mad being disturbed? 3. Why aren't you getting stung? 4. When you cut into the honeycomb, do you risk hurting baby bees in there? 5. If you take all the honey, how can their babies eat? Queen eat? It would be so nice to get some answers to these questions that bug me.
1. Steve found her on this one, he beat me to it. Usually, I see something different and that's how I find her. 2. Yes it is a vac just for bees, low pressure. I will be making a video on it in about 2 weeks after things slow down with the swarms. You are going to have to check that one out. The bees go into a bee box, and yes, they don't like it. 3. I get stung all the time. On this job i was stung at least 4 times, but it won't stop me from doing what I love doing. 4. We trim the comb around the brood as we save all the brood to give back to the bees. 5. We give almost all the honey back to the bees. They need it to survive at this time of the year, so it all goes back. Later, in the summer and fall, I take some and give some to them. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching, and asking good questions. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Jeff, thank you so much for taking the time to craft a reply. My curiosity could not be contained. I love the idea of making my own honey, have to look into that. Also joining a bee club as you mentioned in another post. Never thought that existed!! One thing I will mention here... On the D-day beaches of Normandy, France, in the little town of Bayeux, famous for its wool embroidered 'tapestry' and lace-making, was the best honey I have ever tasted. In a small open market, I bought a small jar of honey made locally. Tasted it back in USA, and oh boy! The perfume just lingered on the tongue. It was the flowers out there, you could taste them in the honey. I have to go back again now, 20 yrs later and see why it was so good. Normandy also makes dairy, cheese, cream, butter that is fantastic. The Wisconsin state of France.
Lass-in Angeles If it is something that a person has a passion for. You can bet your sweet bejevis that their is a support group, forum, club, or trade organization that represents it. Especially in the electronic communications age, of world wide instant communication, within any community.
Not everyone is meant to be a bee keeper, but still you can appreciate the importance of bees and the role they play in our very survival as pollinators. Plus, they make honey. I post these videos, to show just how important bees are to our very survival, and why we should not just kill them out of ignorance. I have been rescuing bees from being needlessly destroyed for over 6 years now, and hope to continue to do so for many more years to come. Thanks for watching, and I hope you will check out more of my bee wrangling/ bee rescues adventures and let me know what you think of them. Best comment of the day, thank you. I hope this means you will be checking out more of my bee adventures on my channel, and let me know your thoughts. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Jane and I will be checking out your videos over the next few days. I hope that you agree with the replies that I have left on other comments on this video. It seems as if so many people have irrational fears when it comes to bees. We have a lavender bush just outside our front door and in the summer, the postman leaves our letters next door when it is in flower. One of my favorite memories was the day that one of our friends had collected a swarm and was driving it home in a cardboard box on the back seat of his car. Due to all the road humps, he was driving so slowly that the police pulled him over and wanted to check out what was in the box on his back seat. Another funny story from a few years ago, was the guy who moved into central London from his country house and decided to keep a hive on the tiny balcony of his flat in a tower block. The hive was less than 3 feet from his neighbors window. The council evacuated the entire building and story ended up on national television news LOL.
Wow, what great stories you have. Because I delivered mail for 27 years, your story about the mailman touched home. I am sorry, but I have not read your reply to others comments. I have so many comments to respond to, I only look and answer the ones directed to the video. I will bee looking for your name now. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Yes they are! The main reason I keep bees is because I marvel at their ingenuity. It is simply amazing that these little creatures can build something so massive and beautiful and then fill it with the sweetest substance on the earth, like you said, mind boggling. Thanks for watching, and I hope you watch more of my bee wrangling adventures on my channel and let me know your thoughts. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Bees have no shame. Thanks for watching, and I hope you check out more of my bee adventures on my channel and let me know what you think. God's peace. Mr. Ed
You know I love watching people catch bees instead of killing them. We have a lot of flowers that bloom down here and a lot of people who think the only good thing is to kill them or be scared. I've learned through the years Bees are VERY gentle unlike wasps if you leave them alone. The only time I've ever seen a Bee attack people is because they attack it. And on another note: Beautiful Queen! I hope the Beekeeper gets a good harvest this year :D it looks like he might need to buy a new housing soon for them.
I am the bee keeper, and the bees that I remove from structures are all saved from being destroyed. After the removal they are placed in a bee hive and that hive is then placed at the abbey where it will survive unmolested......that is until it's time to harvest honey. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
crazydoodler I was on a pool just standing there and all of a sudden a bee out of no where stings my neck. I don't know about you, but I didn't consider that gentle.
It is my pleasure, and thank you for watching. I hope you check out other bee wrangling adventures of mine and let me know what you think. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Holy cow that's insane!! I couldn't do it....I wouldn't even stand near that nest with one of those suits on. I've chased tornadoes and I think you guys have more guts than I do Lol.
OK, so you've seen this hive and you thought it was large, well, if you have the time, check out these other bee hives I have removed this year. After you watch them, let me know if it's safer to chase tornadoes. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-arBEHHCcNUM.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-57OAov2BsP8.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-F2QgYGi1tTQ.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mjOlw-eRB0I.html
Gee whiz those hives are still crazy. I think that with experience it's safer to remove the bee hives rather than tornado chasing, but I would still be afraid of all those bees flying around (I have family members who are allergic so I might develop it at some point as well).
butterflies pollinate. but at least can bees and all other insects very similar to the just not have existed with stingers. like seriously, they devastated millions of innocent people who shouldn't have died in such a way. plus even trees don't need bees. wind, rain, kids who move the seeds around. just climb a tree and some seeds get stuck on your shoes then when you going into your house you throw them into the yard.
When I first saw these bees in the wall, that is the thought I had. Just imagine how cool that would bee when you have friends over and you show them your bee wall. Thanks for watching, , and I hope you check out more of my bee adventures on my channel and let me know what you think. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Thank you for the blessing and the kind words. All I can say is that I love to wrangle bees and make videos about it. I can't thank you enough for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed

The cat wanted to come in the house really bad, but the homeowners would not let her in. She had a great view of the entire job in safely behind glass. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
What a treat, to work together with Wreck it Ralph, and Rocket Scientist Steve, to remove a huge bee hive, catch the queen, and no one seriously hurt. That's a good day. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
There is no way that clickbait is as sweet as the honey that came from these bees. Thanks for watching, and I hope you continue watching all my bee adventures and letting me know your thoughts on them. God's peace. Mr. Ed
The bees you deal with are always so calm compared to the ones I kept with my grandfather. They would sting anyone within 1000 feet of the hives. I got stung so many times I can't even remember even when the hive was hundreds of feet away. They got annoyed so easily. It totally killed my desire to ever keep bees myself.
I know I am fortunate to have gentle bees, they do make the experience so much nicer when the bees are not aggressive. I post these videos, to show just how important bees are to our very survival, and why we should not just kill them out of ignorance. I have been rescuing bees from being needlessly destroyed for over 6 years now, and hope to continue to do so for many more years to come. Jeff Horchoff great video Jeff. and great being a good sport about being the Obama look-alike. takes a lot of courage to do what you do. do you ever remove wasp nest?
The bee vac has a special design with low vacuum so as NOT to kill bees. I have used this vac for over 3 years now with great success. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
You are to kind. Thanks for watching, and I hope you continue watching all my bee adventures and letting me know your thoughts on them. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Love seeing you alone or you and your friends rescuing honey bees Mr Ed . The abby is going to start looking like a bee farm soon such a nice thought a place where bees can live in peace without concern about being displaced or destroyed by people who want them gone . Hope your nice had a beautiful wedding and may god bless her and her husband a long and happy marriage. As usual God Bless Mr Ed .
We certainly had enough Steves on the job! Great news, my niece and her husband now have a beautiful, 2 year old daughter, Claire, a true blessing. Thank you for your blessings and for all the time you spend watching my be wrangling adventures. Until the next one, God's peace Charlene. Mr. Ed
@@JeffHorchoff Awe that is nice God has blessed them with one of his gifts may your great niece also be blessed with good health and a happy future . Oh I also have a great niece named Claire she will be three here on July 1 . Yes I’m binge watching bee rescuing videos watched many of JP’s videos . I can’t work due to disability so have allot of time on my hands . Your videos and JP get me through some boring nights and sometimes give me a good chuckle especially when JP calls the bees girlfriends and says he is very careful not to squinch any of the gal’s . Yes God Bless you as well Mr Ed .
Awesome video, Now when I tell people that I seen a long hive about 6ft long back in 93 and people laugh I will just tell them to watch this. That was the onle and only time I ever seen a wild hive so big in the UK. Was in an abandoned barn, moved some old scaffold boards that where leaning against a wall inside and there it was. Litterally 6ft of Comb. I bet that one you got there is even longer? Awesome job saving the bees and finding that awesome queen. Thanks for posting! had to sub after watching this.
The comb on this hive was spectacular! It is not often I come across sheets so large, but it is not uncommon. I love being a bee wrangler. Thanks for subbing and watching......all the way over in the UK. God's peace brother. Mr. Ed
That's why I remove and relocate the bees to a place where they are free from the danger of being destroyed. Had I not removed these bees, they would have been destroyed. I love saving bees and helping folks with a bee problem. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed Reply ·
What I find really facinating is that you frame up the hives that you save and then put it in the bee box. I think that is so much less stressful for the swarm. We purchased a cabin in the Bull Mountains after our other cabin burned down in the 2012 Bull Mountain Fire. We were getting ready to have it re-roofed when we found a huge hive in the rafters close to one corner of the roof. We called Bee Rescue, every apiairy, every bee hobbyist and called places in other states and no one would come to get them. Finally, roofing day was arriving so we had to eradicate them. I cried like a baby when my husband had to spray them. I wish you would have been in Montana because I would have had you here so quick to save them. My husband and I felt just awful about it.
You should derive great comfort in the fact you put forth great effort to save the bees. Sometimes, it is just not possible. Thank you so much for taking the time to follow my bee wrangling adventures, and I look forward to hearing from you again. Don't forget, I post a new video every Friday. God's peace Pamela. Mr. Ed
Omegapede Prime part of the issue is you cannot make beehives from pressure treated wood which has pesticides which have the side effect of killing your bees. this makes them far more vulnerable to the elements especially in the southern states where humidity and high temperatures are the norm from April to October.
You can buy comb honey, and if you have never tasted it you should. Often, in farmers markets, you will find a local bee keeper selling the product of their hives, and sometimes they sell comb honey. Let me know how you like it. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Andari Voom I have only had it once as a child and i got to say that it was remarkable. Like nothing i have ever had, and the comb was nice and soft with the perfect amount of crunch. No wonder bears go threw all the hassle of eating it. If you are planning on eating some honey or comb. I recomend buying it from an open market that way you know its fresh and not processed.
It's about a hundred or so chickens, and a few goats thrown in there also. The owners had a bit of a farm going on, not to mention a bunch of bees in their wall. Thanks for watching, and I hope you check out more of my bee adventures on my channel and let me know what you think of them. God's peace. Mr. Ed
Ralph’s a consummate professional craftsman clearly moved and rewarded by the spirit.....a thoughtful and wise soul and a critical member of your successes......well done.
Ralph and I meet at a bee club meeting over 10 years ago, and have been friends ever since. I wish Ralph could go on every removal I do, but he is still working a real job whereas I am retired. He's the best demo man/ bee wrangler out there, and I'm blessed to have him as a friend. God's peace Mark. Mr. Ed
Jeff Horchoff Bees ......when will you begin your journey as a monastic novitiate......??? It is a path I once considered...yet I walk a very Catholic path......I enjoy viewing your journey Jeff and find myself smiling often.....except when your smoker fell off the duck box...... yours in Christ, Mark
In Fort Lauderdale, one of the oldest buildings is an early 1900's hotel. It was two story, yada, yada. Well, once it was no longer doing business as a hotel, it became a historical site which catered to educating the local youth, being renamed the Discovery Center. In the dedicated science room, they had discovered a hive which looks just like the one in this video. Since it was on the exterior wall nearest the river where no one would go, they didn't remove it. On the inside they put up a permanent clear plexiglass viewing window. It was such a treat for children & adults alike to be able to safely watch the bees in action without any chance of harm. Apparently, on the exterior, they installed an access panel as sometimes they would actually have jars of honey with comb as well as jars of filtered honey for sale in the gift shop. I don't know if the hotel still has the hive in it. The Discovery Center upgraded to a huge, modern facility, being renamed The Museum for Discovery & Science, years ago, & it contains no hive. I had taken my children to the new facility many times in their youth & was so disappointed that they couldn't have that same experience. Seeing the living bees, busy, energetic, buzzing, industrious, as well as the craftsmanship of their combs with one's eyes, rather than just on a screen is awe-inspiring. And as you say, the sound. There is nothing quite like hearing that sound & realizing THAT is coming from their wings & so LOUD.
I consider myself very fortunate to see sights similar to this one very often, not always to the extent of size, but beautiful to behold. insulation isn't just for keeping heat in. It keeps cold air in and hot air out in the summer. It's also a noise barrier. so regardless if it's a warmer area or not you should have it

Two things that I would suggest for you. First, find a bee club in your area and join it, that way, you will bee prepared to get bees in the spring. I do not charge to remove bees from peoples homes as I want to make the experience for both the bees and the homeowners to bee as painless as possible. I'm glad you added the last part to your comment, most folks forget about that part of it. Thanks for watching, and I hope you continue to follow my bee adventures on my channel. God's peace. Mr. Ed
What, they "forget" that messing with a random beehive could very well be dangerous? Well golly. >_> Yes, I am fascinated by bees and I enjoy your work and closeness with the bees :3 But I love honey, so I'd certainly be wearing a bee-suit to take that honey. That would be cool to have your own growing supply of honey in your own home and if bees could get used to you and know your scent and will leave you be if you don't hurt them. If it truly could work like that, that is one insect infestation I wouldn't mind having. (save for any human guests that might come to visit and as long as the bees didn't interfere with my electrical/pipes/wires.) Well shoot, I guess there's a reason bees generally belong outside. XD
It really is, you can probably can get some from your local farmers market. There is always a bee keeper there. Good luck. Thanks for watching. God's peace. Mr. Ed
You are correct, a special vacuum is necessary to vacuum bees, but the issue is not wet, dry, or even sticky, it's suction. The bee vac I use and built is specially designed for low suction so as not to harm the bees when they are vacuumed. @@JeffHorchoff Peace man. I would personally thank you for saving bees, if I could. I have been trying to convince people around me that honey bees are not dangerous and essential to all life on Earth. It pains me to see how some people simply set them on fire with lighters and WD40s, or kill them with pesticides. You're doing gods work.
Jeff Horchoff lol I think the video was awesome, I love how you care about then so much. I'm such a nature person with the worst kind of allergies. Bummer but it doesn't stop me from enjoying it. Thank you for sharing god bless😘
.....at lest fully are the operative words. By the way, I post a new video every Friday morning, and I look forward to hearing from you again soon. God's peace. Mr. Ed

I love how you care for nature, and spread it to people! I’m scared of bees when they get close to me, but I would never kill them. They are quite pretty when you look at them closely. Especially the queen.
