Ancient forest had too many floors and your scout flies that guide you, disappears if you come into contact with a small enemies 😂 Hope they implement a better feature
Yeah, but now you got a mount that can also autonavigate to different places. Similar to Tailraiders, so it shouldn't be bad at all. 3 times actually sounds like the right size to me.
It wasnt so much a map size issue with Ancient Forest. It was just such a dense, winding, and twisting map, that made it hard to look out into the distance and see where you wanted to go. You couldnt just look ahead and run to a place you see in the distance like every other map. With Ancient Forest, there was always a giant tree, cliffs, or a canopy of general nature shit in front of you and you just had to remember the path you had to take to go in the direction you needed to go.
I remember a similar reaction to Monster Hunter World, people thinking "this is CG, no way the game is like this" and it was. It's kind of nuts that Wilds is able to capture that feeling again.
Man i fan screamed when I played the demo and saw a rathalos shadow that wasn't a circle and when I looked up it was all the way at the top of the map. Felt like magic
I hadn’t played a monster hunter game until world. I remember the trailer showing how beautiful the environments were and how realistic the monster designs were. World went on to be one of my most played games.
I remember experiencing the water fall trap at the top of ancient forest for the first time. It was a magical game moment for me. I thought I triggered a cut scene and had no idea it was actual game play mechanic.
Base camp can be destroyed? Seamless hunts? No loading? Areas 3x the size? Official sneak attacks? Clash attacks? Changing seasons? Well, looks like I'm going to be playing this till the end of time.
Base camp being destroyed reminds me of rampages a bit but now it's focused on defending your camp. Also a little bit like Palworld though the obvious comparison is Rise.
@@lilfuzzballaDon't think so, if you can climb on top of dead monsters, that means their character models aren't "deactivated" and any object/character model that comes in contact with it will not go right through.
AY, PLEASE, WE ARE ALREADY HALFWAY THROUGH 2024, ITS JUNE!! WE CAN MAKE IT! Tho the monster hunter wilds team CAN TAKE THEIR TIME! don't rush them fool!
Absolutely.. Capcom always does well with their dedication to demos, and it seems clear now why Dragon's Dogma 2 didn't have a demo. It just wasn't... Finished. Released way too early, and they didn't have faith in it enough to do a demo. But from what Max says, Monster Hunter: Wilds seems like it's feature-complete. I would not be surprised if there's a demo this year.
@@KamiyouniRemake? Monster hunter hunter was never remade, Monster hunter world is monster hunter 5, it's a direct sequel to Monster hunter 4!!! That world 2 crag must stop
@@Deluura regardless of what you think it is 100% that MH world is not a remake in any way, it's just the next gen MHat that time, it was confirmed by the Dev team that it's MH 5 and they dropped the Number thing because it might discourage new players.
When I started hearing about how it was the primary thing selling PSPs in Japan in the mid 00's, I had a feeling it would be pretty big...but nothing like it has become!
@@matthew-dq8vk sure, bud, like you didnt pay at the minimum like 300 bucks to get the materials for your PC, and if your on phone/laptop, you DEFINITELY spent at least 900 dollars knowing phone and laptop costs at this point
Crazy to think that Monster Hunter was an underdog IP back when it came out. Definitely ahead of its time because it got critically panned back then. So glad I ignored the reviews and picked it up eventually. Looks like everyone else did eventually too. lol
It absolutely had the Souls problem, reviewers didn't have enough time to really delve into the game and it's systems to understand why it's so special.
Game wasn’t really popular until it was more immersive with the wildlife features and graphics upgrade. Glad they’re taking this game to the next level. The monster hunter devs never disappoint.
@@thisismybassgun That's the perfect comparison. Reviewers initially took the animation timings and more thoughtful combat as a negative. Smh I remember Demon's Souls getting very similar hate from critics. Then both games started gaining a cult following and spread like crazy through word of mouth. Now they're 2 of the largest Japanese IPs out there which is nuts.
@@chrislee7775 I would actually say it started gaining popularity due to the PSP port Monster Hunter Freedom. That was actually my first time picking it up and I got hooked. Ended up roping all of my friends into it too. The timing was wild because by the second PSP port I was noticing more and more people playing it. I knew it was blowing up when I could go to the library on my college's campus and have Ad-hoc multiplayer seshes with random people.
@@chrislee7775 dude what do you mean "wasnt really popular" that shit was popular AF in Japan it was the most played handheld game on the PSP back then heck even on the 3DS.
When Max said "high fidelity" food, I was like oh no...dont tell me they made the food like Dragons Dogma 2. But when max said, not like DD2, but actual in engine food, that was a sigh of relief.
This franchise is the favorite child of capcom, they wouldn't disrespect it by diverting the original formula, I knew they would only add minor changes and gameplay toppings. So in hindsight this only gives me hope for the AAA industry in this genre. Edit: Lmao I meant favorite child
They've diverted so much from the originals lol it's much more Hollywood and cinematic. Intimate inventory management and map learning is dang near non-existent. it's very much more hand holdy in the beginning G-rank is now high rank practically. Also the games disincentives multiplayer hunting by making the monster have more health. It's much more popular tho so despite those differences everyone loves it now
@Kamiyouni you're wrong about the multiplayer, the monsters only get a small HP boost so having more players always makes the hunts faster because the extra dps more than makes up for their increased health.
@@Kamiyouni Still not really diverted, cinematics and additional cutscenes are to be expected with the new gen, the base gameplay is still the same with little extra or less unnecessary animations (that drinking potion pose). That less hand-holding difficulty is due to limitations of the older engine, especially with the separate loading screens where tracking was embedded in the UI instead of the whole map. "The game disincentives multiplayer hunting by making the monster have more health".. - isn't that the opposite? If some higher MR leveled hunter joins and just 1-shotted the monster because its health didn't scale (unless intended like MR to HR.....), wouldn't that discourage the player having SOS since it would defeat the sense of achievement and more likely used for speed running purposes? Even though it's a bit arcady, the game itself still requires effort and time to build equips which could easily kick out those BR-COD ADHD hype beasts lmao.
this video is criminal, now I really CAN'T wait to have this in my hands omg. I'm really excited about the dynamic music and the seamless transition between quests.
I think the Sandstorm is hiding the fact that the location is naturally lush and the sand could be part of some elder dragon's natural disaster effect along with the lightning, maybe even 2 separate dragons or the environment is just unnaturally dynamic in that way, the location just happens to have these rapid shifts making it harsher to live in.
Yeah feels lonely out there in the field but then again i dont want players to do most of the work for me so npc teammates sounds like my type of stuff
@@KeDe1606you just gotta hit em will agree with safi jiva but unless im forgetting a monster I’ve done them all solo except safi I think the solo player experience is pretty good I prefer solo over groups
For playing these games for so long and just listening to the stuff max say's. I am happy to finally see the vision the developer's had from so long ago come to reality over the years. Building more and more polished and perfected, Genuinely excited to experience the game.
There are in game maps that show the overall shape of the world.. otherwise the size of the world can be explained by the fact every new locale is actually fa different part of the same locale (ex. Volcano, desert, icefield..) except world which is you know a different continent
I appreciate the passion you have when you're explaining some of these titles.. it not only gets me excited for the game you're covering but also keeps it interesting while you're doing it. Thanks again max. I cant wait till this comes out.
at 9:20 you mention how the music dynamically changed, in world you can actually hear some monster themes change if they chase YOU for long enough, although it takes long enough that I've only heard it once after 600 hours, it's nice to see how you can split monsters from their pack and in doing so, now hear that version of their theme easier.
Every multi-area battle theme in World has a standard, Mount, Chase, and Rage variant that changes depending on whether you’re following a fleeing monster, mounting it, or being chased into another zone by it.
I can't wait to spend the next 10+ years on this damn game! I appreciate all these details cause I haven't heard anyone talk about Wilds in this much detail! I need to see lance gameplay so badly with the counter and clashes and mount attacks
You know what the sand storms remind me of, it reminds of the part of maze runner when everything turns night time in the maze everything just changes to be a lot more dangerous and weird
Thank you so much for all the juicy details. This has me so incredibly hyped and i look forward to sinking hours upon hours into this beautiful game. SO to my GL, CB, and HH bros
Every mainline MH is a sequel, it's cool we're getting the main cast of Gen4 back in Wilds. The sneak attack sounds like they condensed the opening clutch claw wall bang and made it less of a hassle.
@@namelessiam7792 I'm also not 100% on LMF, however the lady beside her looks very similar to Guildmarm and the Commander is 100% Ace Lancer with the exact same hair and face, he rose through the ranks.
I hope I can get this on release so I can take the game slow. Had a shit pc for years and only recently played through world and rise and I feel like I rushed through those games
Confirming that yes you do sound a bit crazy while talking about it, is the best result I could have hoped for... The crazy stuff you have seen, we can only imagine ahahahah thanks for the impressions I had lots of fun following along
Hyped to the MAX for this game, I love that you have good descriptions of the video demo you saw. We have come a long way from Monster Hunter egg hunts with bulldrome and velociprey.
Just hearing all this has me more excited than ever. If its sounding polished just from a behind the scenes showcase then full release will be something special
Saludos!
Glad to see u could make checkpoint bases, similar to wildhearts. My favorite thing about wildhearts was always customizing the map in my own way, building camps and other contraptions to make map traversal custom and unique. Glad we can set up our own camps in MHWilds
Oh the season changing thing sounds interesting. I was a bit worried that it might be just sand all the time, but thats good to hear. I can't wait to see all this for myself. Hearing how nice and polished it is makes me want to upgrade my monitor by the time the game comes out.
It's feels so weird that a video with an excited person describing without "videos" what he saw made me more excited and calm than the trailers that were shown. Max is that good!
waiting to see a comment like this, prowler needs to be real in a more recent title, XX/GU is one of the most enjoyable titles that often gets overshadowed by MHW and Rise
I just hope that were able to change combat options via rise and go straight in to playing with friends, rather than waiting for one person to catch up in the story. And no randomized gatcha decorations from world.
RNG decos were so bad man. At least in Rise and Sunbreak I only had to deal with one and by the end of it I could get what I want. Hopefully neither are rng based though and I can craft it.
Thank you Max for bringing us this Holy Grail of information -- hearing how good things are looking and praise from you has attached hype rockets to blow our nuts off into space
On the one side, its great we get npc hunters and mid map camps, on the other hans, it sucks no one is crediting sunbreak for paving the way for alot of the new features, the stance is a mux of so many things with rises systems and world hunters are just going "oh thats entirely new tenderise"
Yup. It's literally like an agenda. They can't see past themselves. This game will borrow heavily combat wise from Rise without them realizing it. The monsters will also probably have greater tracking like in Rise vs world's lack of tracking despite moving faster. The game it literally on a different engine than World. A lot of things are barrowed from Rise but because of their prejudice they'll never admit it. It's weird and sad they are like this over a game.
@@user-db1oe9mc2h Practically nobody is so petty or full of contempt over a video game that they ignore any borrowed aspect because of that. They just aren't making the connection, that's it. Try not to have such a pessimistic view of people. Think for a minute about whether or not your assumption about someone actually makes sense, and whether or not you've seen much evidence of your assumption being the case in regards to the topic.
@@Kuratheris2 "Practically nobody is so petty or full of contempt over a video game that they ignore any borrowed aspect because of that. " You'd be surprised at how petty people can be. I've read comments and seen posts on reddit people saying they do not care about what rise does or what it improves on. They'll still champion the same attitude of negativity towards it. Often because of visuals. You would have to be naive or just unaware to not notice it. Granted Not everyone is like that but a LOT of people are. This is especially the case because World brought in so many ignorant people into the space. You ought to think for a few seconds on if someone is making baseless assumption or an observation based on what people generally say. Or the flow of thought and general repetitive comments people type. Take time and search all videos regarding Rise and World being talked about at the same time. View the comments and see what they say.
@@user-db1oe9mc2h It's just so absurd to me to think anyone wouldn't admit any borrowed aspect, but I underestimate the stupidity of people, lol. I don't think I've ever seen anyone doing that for any video game, ever, but I don't look at videos comparing games or whatnot, nor go through many comments of most videos.
The fact that we can make camps and clash with monsters like in the cinematics has me incredibly hyped, and that's not even counting all of the other things i'm hearing you talk about. Climbing on monsters to carve them instead of just phasing through them, the seasons changes, monsters destroying camps, these are all things a lot of us OG fans have been wanting for years! or in my case 2 decades lol. God I can't wait.
