Your thymus isn't talked about much, but this small organ in your upper chest is a key component of your immune system that is solely responsible for the essential "education" of the immune cells that protect your body from invaders. Through this action it also affects levels of inflammation (an immune-mediated process). It's also interesting to note that most of us end up dying of an immune-related dysfunction - even cardiovascular disease, as Dr. Greg Fahy points out in this New Frontiers podcast, is often caused by atherosclerosis driven by underlying chronic inflammation.
I was thrilled to finally sit down with Dr. Fahy, whose groundbreaking work in aging has truly reshaped our understanding of what’s possible. His 2019 TRIIM study, showing clear epigenetic age reversal through thymus regeneration, was an absolute game-changer. The thinking prior to that was that epigenetic age reversal was not possible! It was exciting to read his publication as we were in the midst of our own original clinical trial. I'm sure you'll enjoy his recounting of that adventure and just how he's rejuvenating thymic function, the rationale for targeting immune rejuvenation, and the trial extensions he's currently working on now, in this episode of New Frontiers. - DrKF

GUEST DETAILS
Greg Fahy, PhD
Chief Scientific Officer and Co-founder Intervene Immune
Email: fahy@interveneimmune.com
Dr. Greg Fahy received his Ph.D. in Pharmacology and Cryobiology from the Medical College of Georgia in 1977. A world-renowned cryobiologist, Dr. Fahy is the chief science officer and co-founder of Intervene Immune, where he leads groundbreaking research on thymus regeneration and combating age-related immune decline. He designed and led the TRIIM trial, the first to demonstrate both thymus rejuvenation and the reversal of human epigenetic age. His work has been pivotal in advancing aging research, resulting in successful follow-up trials like TRIIM-XA, and further planned studies aimed at refining and expanding these innovative treatments.

@@jobyyboj I think people who are sensitive to injustice, who have seen a lot of negatives, who want no more of it won't have the same values anymore, even concerning good health. They likely become nonchalant about life. Then maybe others, who with the years, become callous, unpleasant, corrupted for having seen so much in such a long life. It might not be easy to appreciate or be a decent person with all the years. Please could you explain that again but like I’m 10 years old ?
@HappyCetacean
@HappyCetacean 21 день назад
@@b8dom Here's where AI really shines; I like Perplexity for questions like this: Pregnenolone and DHEA Pregnenolone is a precursor hormone that can be converted into other hormones like DHEA, progesterone, and cortisol2. Some people use it as a supplement, believing it may help with various aspects of aging. DHEA (Dehydroepiandrosterone) is often referred to as the "mother of all sex hormones" and is thought to have anti-aging properties2. HRT and Hormone Balance The suggestion to use pregnenolone "in place of PM HRT" likely refers to replacing evening hormone replacement therapy with pregnenolone supplementation. This approach aims to support the body's natural hormone production rather than using synthetic hormones2. Elk Antler and IGF-1 Elk antler is sometimes used as a natural source of insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1). IGF-1 is associated with growth and regeneration, but its role in longevity is complex and not fully understood. Quercetin Instead of Metformin Quercetin is a flavonoid with antioxidant properties. The suggestion to use it instead of metformin implies an attempt to mimic some of metformin's potential anti-aging effects through natural means. Metformin, a diabetes drug, has shown promise in longevity research.

Good question, I'd also love to understand the mechanism explaining why most large animals have shorter lifespans. TRIIIMx is a temporary protocol, just enough to regenerate the Thymus and repopulate the naïve t-cell pool over a year to 18 months. It's repeatable as shown by a low-n TRIIM ->TRIIMx subcohort with a few years in between treatments, but how well that generalizes and how many times repeatable remains to be seen.

The studies sugest that there is a small risk of dementia in those who stop taking metformin. Its the stopping that seems to cause the risk.

2 conditions for longevity set by bible 1. Honor your father and mother Exo_20:12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee. 2. Love God Psa 91:14 Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. Psa 91:15 He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. Psa 91:16 With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.rom

@@srenbro916 But there are evidences! Go to Sardinia, Italy, and Okinawa, Japan where people have exceptional longevity and you will find that they honor their fathers and mothers. In USA, 2 different Christian people love God (so keep God’s commandments to the letter) 1. Amish people have longer life and much lower rates of cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes than other Americans. 2. Seventh-day Adventists, live an average of 10 years longer than the American life expectancy It is NOT even based on what THEY EAT..

@@baldsealion Based on what God promised, I believe Princess Catherine will live a longer life than Duchess Megan BECAUSE Princess Catherine honors her father and mother but Megan does not. It can be proven decades later.
