I like that until he saw the gun, Tony didn't think for a second that this was a dangerous situation to put his son in. And even when he does, he reacts so casually
It's poker. A gamble. If Toby reacted the wrong way or showed dear the gun would have been used. Tony casually gave respect and ended the interaction. I guess a gangster are always gambling with risks.
@@boshirahmed No, he didn't. The guy isn't going to use the gun. Tony didn't give respect, he had already given disrespect. He simply acknowledged that this wasn't an issue he considered worth fighting over. He didn't give the guy any indication he was going to give him a fight, and he didn't react aggressively. Not the same thing. It's not a power move, it's not a flex. It's simply backing down from a fight, which resolves most confrontations, but it does make him a dick for everything he did up to there. Because Tony is a dick. That's the point. He casually brought his son to a crime ridden neighbourhood, and insulted someone clearly on drugs and in the drug game, and after poking the rattlesnake left it alone, because to the guy, this sort of thing is normal, which is why he's so awful. There is no gamble there. Dropping the issue when someone wants to fight you is how the vast majority of people avoid getting into fights. It isn't poker, it isn't gambling because he lives a life of danger, he's just being an ass, and backing out of it the same way most guys back down after talking shit to a bouncer, with his underage son next to him because this is his world and it has ruined him and through him it is ruining his family. Media literacy is dead.
A needlepoint to why he’s messed up. Look at T’s double standards all the way through the series, the violence, but don’t use it, the work, but drag ass, don’t abuse women, abuses women. T was a nutcase, but he followed in his fathers footsteps.
Every account I’ve heard of him that doesn’t come from celebrity sheep described him as a huge asshole. He kinda abused his size. Oh, if only he came across a 6’6” cauliflower-eared paparazzi.
This was a risky move by Tony. Of course, that guy would have been stripped to bits if he killed Tony but he had no idea who Tony was, just another civilian in the wrong area. For Tony to be saying what he was - especially considering he was with AJ - he is somewhat lucky the guy gave him a warning beforehand.
+Abraham Hagos No WAY you'd want to start popping caps at a white man and his son in an SUV if you have an established crack den going in the neighborhood. Great way to have 25 police officers combing your neighborhood and cracking heads not to mention the shit storm the mob would have rained down on them once the cops were through with them. Not only that, Tony was a major figure in the news media. You'd have to living under a rock in North Jersey / New York not to instantly recognize him in public like this. Tony knew exactly what he was doing here.
+Abraham Hagos Absolutely.. and i'll wager if you give me 4-1 odds that if this was real (Tony being a crime boss and all and them not knowing) Tony would have got shot....you try this shit in Detroit even if they knew you were a crime boss you're going to get shot..If you were President of the United States they would shoot you.
+Trev Mac Total bullshit, no one in their right mind who values the life of their family would just shoot a mob boss. And B no they wouldn't shoot the President that's absurd, how would they get away with that with a bunch of mindless crackheads as the witnesses
Sad thing is this is a reality. I can't even check out my grandfather's old neighborhood now and then because Newark is such a shithole on most streets. I've got no problem with the demographics changing; that's just life. But the fact that a house or neighborhood that once meant so much to so many Italian, Irish, or Black families now stands for the sole purpose of selling coke and dope makes somebody pretty angry when they ruminate on it.
The problem is an absence of proper social infrastructure in the United States. Neighborhoods like this practically dont exist in countries like Denmark, Germany or the Netherlands. Because in these countries there's plenty of safety nets so that people don't end up in absolute poverty. It's much easier to get a proper education. They monitor the state of their neighborhoods and take action when they notice decline.
The worst neighborhoods in Denmark have a violent crime rate of less than 5 per 1,000 inhabitants. There's neighborhoods in the US that have more than 10 times that.
freddybeer hey this place is riddled with mansions, pristine gardens beautiful parks and lovely shops you can see the entrepreneurship in this lovely community
blueshirt06 Camden , Trenton , Most of Newark , All of Paterson , a few parts of Passiac .. parts of Bergen County , Don't leave the Boardwalk at Atlantic City . a few messed up place's near Forked River .. I don't know where else but Im sure there a few dozen more..
boshirahmed it definitely isn't realistic,if this was real Life they would have smoked Tony and his son, no way would they just let him go after Tony insulted their father, ive heard of people getting smoked for staring
The funniest Sopranos scene is when Ginny and her brother visit Johnny Sack in jail. The brother-in-law knows the FBI is listening so he starts talking in code, and Johnny Sack has trouble understanding him..lol
This scene reminds me of something my dad did a long while ago. My dad and I had gone out one day , and my dad had his dog with him. We were at a light , and he spotted a hooker on the side of the road , waiting around (for obvious reasons) So when the light turned green ,My dad pulled up to the hooker, rolled down his window, and proceeded to ask the woman "how much for me and the dog?” She went fuckin' ballistic on my dad 🤣 I’ll definitely never forget that 🤣 As funny as it was at the time , I still feel a bit guilty about the exchange. My dad is a bit of a macho manly man. We also have a pretty large generational gap (he was born in '51, and I was born in '94) between us. He has never been afraid to offend people.
@@aqueous5099 You're definitely not wrong about that. I still feel a bit shitty about it TBH. My dad and I are pretty much polar opposites. I definitely don't believe that sex workers should be made to feel ashamed. But I couldn't help but find it funny. The total absurdity of the situation made it hard *not* to laugh.
@@vladislavno hey, retard. You can make a joke, which I admitted was funny, yet also just obviously be mocking, insulting and degrading for no valid reason.
What the fuck?...when Tony said to AJ that he was going to show him the old neighbourhood, did he actually mean to say that he was going to show him where HBO shoots The Wire?
If aj did the right things, got good grades etc it would make for lame TV, this isn't a hallmark movie lol "And 5 years later aj graduated from Harvard And started a multi millionaire business"
The dude with the gat is in Its Always Sunny and he’s one of the Vought writers in The Boys. Glad to see he’s cleaned up his act since this chance encounter with a working father and his clever son.
I feel there were a lot of characters who were untolerable tbf just got annoying after a while the daughter and some of the people in the mafia family just feel it wasn’t a very believable portrayal of mob life just my opinion couldn’t get down with it it was all really gimmicky too cringey Italian American cliches feel it’s highly over rated because it is an Italian American mob series
Newark, Elizabeth, Paterson, Plainfield.....they weren't crime-ridden shit holes when they were mainly Italian. Gee if only there was some common factor....
@@ahnafakif3715 The Sopranos. Great show that aired on HBO in the 90’s if you like the mobster life. I loved every character and every show. Definitely worth looking up. Have a great day.
