Used to watch your videos and theories on WoW years and years ago and honestly makes me happy you're planning to return! Hope we all have good time playing through The Worldsoul Saga!
I love seeing Ion be this happy and into the game again, for the past few years he's seemed like a shell of himself, and Pyro and others also picking up on that is amazing to see, amazing video!!
Maybe it has to be that a lot of the shit is being dealt with. With Xbox at the helm and the money they bring, the devs can actually take the time and deliver the classic blizzard polished experience.
@@stefannedevski6760 Yeah I totally agree with this, his shitty boss is gone, new better trusted management who will fund the game instead of letting it rot and collect dust
Warbands are absolutely fucking huge. As someone who despises things like rep grinds but absolutely loves playing multiple classes, I feel like I can finally have my cake and eat it too.
@davestymiest you're misleading OP. That's not what this is. They clearly had to pivot far before the Microsoft deal closed. Dragonflight is evidence of this. The reason people don't like dragonflight is the theme and Disney dragons. This expansion was in development far before the Microsoft deal and far before Metzen returned. No offense, but you fell for the Blizzard marketing. Whether or not Blizzard follow through on the marketing? That's another story.
Account wide reps are a good thing but I don't think it really answers why people play so many alts now compared to before and I don't think it's because people now have more time than ever. Personally for me, it was because the class design sucked. So much homogenizationthat it was hard to find something unique about a class that made me want to stick to it and "main" something.
seriously. People like Asmongold and his audience have created an atmosphere of nonstop whining and bitching about every little thing, way more so than any other game studio gets. They can deliver a game thats 90% perfect but that 10% will drive the world into a frenzy and people will declare the game "Dead" a week later. Like they did with D4.@@miriamweller812
All I've wanted is a San'Layn DK since WotLK launched back in the day. I saw we had these almost "sub class" type stuff and I can finally realize my dream. WE BACK BABY!
I love how ion seems so happy. He's never been more proud to show the work they've done. I think it's because this time he knows he isn't going to announce some crap we all hate. Pyro. I'm praying and hoping they treat this story with more respect than the last 2 xpacs. Can't wait for your content.
Down to heart stuff means shit if it's dull and gameplay has nothing new that makes players' time better. The thing that Pyro didn't play DF and how he is excited about the new xpac makes me feel less insane in the crowds of people praising DF for I cannot see what.
DF did a LOT correctly bud. It was the expansion that started to new foundation to lay all these new system changes upon and is currently the most alt friendly, cross faction friendly and player time friendly wow has ever been. And the raid fights were pretty good despite the story elements not always being that great. The lighthearted parts of the expansion are good storytelling though. Its just when it needed to get serious it kinda fell shorter. Also I enjoyed having not having any mandatory systems like SL made me do. If I wanted to level a factions renown then I could always opt into it. But I was never FORCED to do it to properly raid or mythic + and thats a big deal to me. I took my time and it was nice. And on top of that there was a LOT more world event type things to do that didn't always fall off or become useless by next patch as well. It's been great overall with a few small issues.@@jankxyard
I love pvp points. Being able to get good gear from casually playing makes retail so much more appealing. I don't want to raid or dedicate my time to a grind I don't wanna do, I just wanna spam some bgs, kill some caves, have good gear, and then mess around with the boys raiding goldshire or something.
I can't wait for WoW to get all these features as somone who has never spent a second into wow. I hope these features are popular and widely used. So that the FFXIV community have a shining example to point at for our devs. There is no reason why a glamour dresser should be character locked, or shared banks etc. Godspeed wow gamers, hope blizzard actually make your game insane this time!
The pro side to TBC though is some people don't get motion sick from it. And that I can auto run and afk fly somewhere. So I do appreciate having both. But I will def use dynamic riding more often then not myself. It's fast af
37:15 "I don't have time to play both," really means "I don't value one or the other enough to make time for both." And that's okay. It's okay to value one over the other. It's okay to value other non-gaming hobbies over either of them. It's okay to value other life or familial responsibilities over either.
While the story sounds epic and 10/10 for the Worldsoul Saga, I feel like the theme of The War Within is to remove as much friction as makes sense and I love that! Switching toons might seem like a small barrier, but as someone pointed out, when you have to do that 14 times it really adds up! I'm so excited for this new Era of WoW listening to its players instead of pretending they are listening.
Ever since DF release, the dev team are taking all the easy wins, which is exactly what they could never do before. Seems like all the changes are common sense changes that have the long term health of the game in mind. That's why I've been confident in WoW since half way through DF. My biggest gripe is the storytelling in game is so poor and the lore could be a bit better. Metzen might be able to solve the lore thing. If he makes this story awesome again, WoW is going to be so great.
Pyro missed some important details from this presentation arguing with chat. Not trying to control how you react, I will probably be downvoted, but for longer arguments it would be better if you could pause the video. Love seeing you delve into wow lore again!
It's honestly so nice seeing you talk about WoW again man. I'm happy to see that the spark is back for you. I remember years ago, 2017 i think, i first came across you. I was hooked! I remember in 2019 when you were on Asmon's stream talking about lorecrafting. Your lorecrafting videos would be the ones i immediately watched whenever they came out, and while i may not remember everything you talked about, i was just excited to see someone who loved the lore of the game as much as you did. It's good to see you back, and i hope our paths cross someday in game!
i definitely hope they expand the Hero Talents going forward, like keeps adding a couple more dots, until by The Last Titan's end, the Hero Talents go down about as much as the Class and Spec trees.
If only you could use something like the command center in FF14. Using your own alts in your warband to fill a party and run solo dungeons or delves with them as NPC's. Gearing them and leveling them up along the way. If your main is a Tank and you simply just want to dps, log into an alt and use your main as the group tank. This would be sick
I intend to withhold my excitement for these new features as I was enthusiastic for warfronts, island expeditions, asserite, torghast, covenants etc. but I do appreciate that these new features seem tangible and fun instead of vague and overhyped. As for the expansion announcements, I think it would be fine to have them be shorter than the previous ones since it might also mean a more consistently progressing story instead of waiting 6 months for 2 hours of story and back to m+, PVP, and raiding for the next 6 months.
I must say I love your reaction videos because you are authentic. You don’t do things simply for the thumbnail. And your love and passion really shows.
I like the hero talents, it's a clever method to implement hero/classes without making a distinct class. Also you get to play that class you read about in lore.
It's a little boring, but it's how they have to do it. I appreciate that anything they add is evergreen. Gonna stick in the game for a while. Makes me feel confident in their design goals. Time will tell if they can make the game great again.
I love the idea of it, but I am quite worried about the actual implementation considering what they showed us. The "Keeper of the Grove" basically just gives you a few percentage damage and AP regen linked to your treants. How exactly is that pushing the fantasy? When I play I won't actually see it, I won't feel it, it won't change my playstyle. I'll not say it's bad until I've seen more, but right now it seems incredibly underwhelming. For example, the "Dark Ranger" is a highly requested Hunter fantasy, but if all it does is add a few % damage effects to Wailing Arrow it won't actually do anything to sell the Dark Ranger fantasy. Of course it's a balance to get right, they can't just make it too big and basically be new specs, but I hope they end up being a bit more exciting than current showcases. Also, if they added some new animations that would go a long way. For example Dark Ranger could get a Dark Shot instead of Arcane Shot. Same ability, but gives it a new look. This would actually make my extremely hyped for most of the hero talent names we got. Honestly, this could probably be mostly achieved with the normal animations and just do a recolor, which would be a lot less work.
i think that is the key here, none of us has seen it yet, in all technicality, so we need to see it in Alpha and Beta then give feedback. in all of WoW's history they are listening more than they ever did. if something isnt hitting, it's on us to inform them, and if we dont, then we have no right to complain.@@BreakerBeat
@@UltimateGamerCC What do you mean we haven't seen it? We LITERALLY have seen some of it. They showcased the system. Yes, it's with a disclaimer of being work in progress, but as you say yourself: it's meant to get feedback. I'm not sure what the point of your reply is. I simply voice some concerns directly pointed at official showcasing of the system. I don't need to play with it in a beta test to know I don't find +3% damage exciting. I didn't say it's doomed to fail, I said that the current version we have been shown is underwhelming to me. And what is that about no right to complain? Criticism and thoughts on the system is not complaining.
I would love them to utilise the class halls more for the Hero talents, even if it is just a simple quest to unlock them. The class halls are there as a crystalisation of the class fantasy in WoW, and it was wonderful to use them in Legion. I do hope it will be an evergreen part of the game.
I find it amusing that people still believe this idea that having talents and trees somehow transform gameplay when the majority of trees really are just filled with boring filler talents to spent points on like "increases damage of sinister strike by 5%", with maybe a dozen actual skills sprinkled throughout the tree. most players just googled out the optimal build anyways so all ret paladins were pretty much identical to every other ret paladin on the server. so his example of machinist essentially describes wows class design as well. the only things that consistently changed gameplay was tier set bonuses, but those were pretty hit and miss a lot of times. talent points = placebo points, they dont really change anything since the change is all in your head.
I hope that some tree's with distinct themes change the appearance of core spells. Keeper of the Grove for example, I hope it makes Wrath and/or Starsurge Life green like they used to be (well, Wrath used to be a green shock ball thing, Starsurge was.. it was a blue fireball thing, but I also have seen screenshots like a Kamehameha). It would really help complete the fantasy of a nature Balance druid, for me atleast.
I'm not someone who usually plays WoW, but I do recognize you from that Shadowlands meltdown video. Really captured how I felt about that expac, as well as the game in general. I don't subscribe to this whole apples to oranges outlook, though. As limited as my time is, any hobby that is going to demand more than an hour a day on average is worth comparing to any other hobby that fits that category, if only because they're all competing for my limited recreation time. So yes, I think it's fair to compare retail with FFXIV. Just like I think it's fair to compare retail to Call of Duty, Stardew Valley, Dark Souls, tabletop gaming, outdoor sports, auto detailing, whatever you're pouring your time and passion in will all at the very least share _you_ as the common demoninator. And if you're not an expert on yourself you have bigger problems than video games to worry about. Just my 2 cents.
My major concern about the Hero Talents is that it’s going to be a nightmare to balance PvP. If they hope to actually capture the fantasy of what these here specs if you will represent, we’re going to be looking at some horribly unbalanced cheesy arena comps. With Blizzards track record of balancing this kind of thing the whole xpac could have some really unbalanced pvp.
They can solve this by separating stats and talents into completely separate pvp versions. A scaled down tree and everything. Otherwise keeping everything the same, you're not going to get balance no matter what.
Let's not act like Arena is balanced is any way. It's balanced around a handful of combos and restricting af or in other words extremely unbalanced. This hopefully throws more tools in for player skill to matter and not class comp.
@@raydafuq3570 yeah it’s not even close to balanced. Hopefully it’ll be good for arena but if these hero talents grant stealth to non stealth classes or additional tankiness to classes that are already very tanky or more mobility to already very mobile classes we could have some nightmare comps on our hands. Hoping for the best.
Point somthing out about Cross realm mythic day 1. it ties in with guild also recruiting from anywhere its freaking great. and today recruitment just dosnt work as it use to people are WAY more picky with where they move ect.
Honestly, I love when I see similarities between different games. It means they’re getting inspired by others and offering a different and hopefully even better variants of it. That’s a great way to improve. Unless there were people saying it’s being stolen from another game, that’s just silly. Of course they take inspiration from one another.
With hero classes, I hope we get some story quests unique to each of them. I know thats alot, but remebering the story quests for each class in legion. That was so fun and a great reason to level and play alts of every class.
I would be over the moon if hero specializations allowed for class quests (for everyone, not just warlocks, for crying out loud) to make a real comeback.
I can't believe The War Within is literally a WoW/FFXIV crossover in which Anduin teams up with Alphinaud and Alisae to run Variant Dungeons and learn that Azeroth has been Hydaelyn the whole time (sarcasm)
ayo man, i'm not really a WoW fan but I'm happy that ur happy about these improvements to the game you love, and man do these look like some major changers for the better.
@@UltimateGamerCC I'd try it if I had the PC to do so. I do plan on eventually getting a PC but as someone who has only ever played on console it limits the options when it comes to trying MMOs. In fact I'm not even 100% sure I like MMOs in general, I almost entirely got into FFXIV because it was a Final Fantasy game first and foremost.
fair, and i get where you're coming from, i was purely a console gamer up to the point that i saw the South Park episode about WoW, so it was definitely out of my element in that regard. i had some previous MMO type experience with Phantasy Star Online.@@midnightbloomofeorzea7182
I've been someone who likes when games grab ideas from other games. One, its a sign of respect to a sort because someone is using that games idea. Two, all it does is make the game industry better. So they SHOULD do this imo.
Warbands are GW2, good feature :) Also 4 dye channels on almost every mount and gear item, and automatically putting gear into the glam wardrobe. More games should do this.
The account wide stuff is genuine content, as while I know some people enjoy refarming over and over, for most its a barrier to playing another class as they will frequently have more than just a basic leveling and basic gear barrier to being able to switch to, whereas this means you can just level up and swap depending on what you want to play as and so add variety to your play. That said, i do miss the trials to be able to get into certain content in LFR as it was simple to do but really thinned out the herd when it came to getting rid of bots and honestly bad players and if anything made them actually get mediocre in their chosen spec as the trials were never really that challenging and just required you to learn basic tool sets and were a far cry from the likes of the green fire quest that required you to learn your class properly. This account wide stuff and adding this would make casual and class switching to fill the gaps in your group, so much better.
@18:05 The warbound gear is the token exchange mechanic that they've used countless times before. This isn't new but being presented as such. These are just more Benthic tokens or Timeless Isle tokens without a vendor. Or they are BoE's with no profit potential. Either way, if the ilvl is acceptable this will be less economy interaction, less dungeon groups and less time playing the game for power on alts. Great for those that want to play one character and not spend weeks catching up the power of another if they happen to feel like playing it. Bad for those that want to have groups for low level m+ or lower difficulty raids. This will free up peoples time for activities that don't involve power grinding. If The World Soul Saga doesn't bring extra content to use for the free time than this will be the least community interaction an expansion has ever seen. Thats okay if you like playing alone, and really bad if you are just getting into the game and want people to play with and improve you performance and power.
You can really tell Blizzard did work on their corporate/creative side. People don’t look like hostages and prisoners talking about stuff now. They seem genuinely hyped about the work again.
I don't understand the pushback against comparing things to FF14. The two games are peers and rivals. Both have taken quite a lot from the other, from small things to big things, and both very obviously influence the other on various levels. Comparing the two is natural, because their coexistence is natural. Might things sometimes be a stretch? Sure. Seeing a voice in the planet calling out is a natural comparison point between the two games. Yes, it extends beyond both of them, but because of how closely they coexist, it's natural to see the impact 14's storytelling has (finally, maybe) had on WoW. I just hope it's actual storytelling and not just further copying of bits and pieces.
WoW has taken nothing from FF14. I know the game in and out and the only thing FF14 did was ruining the original ideas it had by the same laziness as it ruined everything else. A main selling point of FF14 was the idea that your one character could just learn all the classes. The problem is, that never worked with that and in the end while you could have all classes, equipping those classes was just as much of a problem if not worse than in WoW with twinks, especially because one character still got ONE time limit for all the loot stuff. so you had to focus on tank, heale or the different DD jobs and of course the weapon is unique - and the main source of your power. FF14 also started with a small level of possible costumisation - but all this was just cut out more and more until nothing was left. You got no trinkets, no set boni, nor other gimmicks, nothing. Every character is exactly like the other, zero different beside item level. And that is SOLELY greed and laziness on Square's side. They could have done so many things. They just didn't. They did shit. And when even those who went along with it for years couldn't take it anymore and left, they just created a marketing campaign to lure in new players, especially from WoW, with absurd lies like "this company cares" (no, they never did at all, it was a sad running gag, that they never listend and that it took ages for them every single time to fix things, IF they even fixed it at all), "this game is values your time" (no, it never did, it got the typical weekly lockouts, they never cared to improve the boring grind and just abused it for lackluster pseudo content and on top of that, they force you to keep giving them money, else you will lose your IG house and everything inside mere weeks), "the story is great" (no, it's not, even when you say that it is about taste, it's still a lot of inconsistent garbage, and while you may still cheer for it, everything is just solved by terrible plot armor, what always has been, is and always will be horrible bad writing). And so on.
Funny thing though, if I remember correctly the designer of FF 14 or the guy that saved it made his designers play wow to see how it was done. that could be why people compare it so much!
XIV won't put resources into making an account friends list or whatever considering there really is no point in making more than a single character per region now that DC travel is a thing. But a collections tab for glamour would be huge, and not just an updated dresser.
Totally agree. The glamor system is a big sore point for me coming from how slick wows transmog system is. Legit one of the things that wow does better than ff14.
The only way this isn't time gated cringe, is if the big loot resplendent chest is actually gear that is on par with like heroic raid gear. I feel like mythic would be a bit much, they still need to be the absolute best ilvl. And it needs to be smart enough to not potentially give you something you either already have or just let you pick from a pool like a mini Great Vault. I think it has great potential, but it also could be Farrak assaults with extra steps. But the one thing they need to not get rid of, is the token to turn gear into actual Tier items. Maybe your world content set is special in its own right and then can be upgraded on appearance into raid gear or something. Sort of a natural progression thing. But they do need to be different and not just the same set and colored different.
I feel like there is a lot of discussion that makes Pyro miss out on a lot of stuff that would be far better for him to react to, instead of talking to chat about shit that isn't relative to the actual live content he is reacting to. Kinda ridiculous, TBH, but other streamers do it too. Chat needs to realize that they need to let the streamer cook on the topic at hand and not distract them.
Man I really wanna try out WoW now. Only did a bit of trial period in Cataclysm period. Loved the world and learning the classes, didn't wanted to comit to the grind. Seems like it will improve a whole lot. Been doing FF14 for 2 years now. I agree with Pyro, FF14 better story, WoW better cosmic lore. Baldurs gate 3 is now my main time sink. Looking forward to the future.
Warlocks, Warriors, Mages, Rogues, DK, Monk, Hunters, and Priests can all be played on any race/allied race except for Dracthyr. Being able to play what race and class combo you want is slowly becoming a reality.
As someone who returned during dragonflight seeing what had been fixed and what will be fixed I can see the game having 0 things to complain about. But moving forward I want them to rework the guild system because that’s what the game used to be all about for me. I’m incredibly happy with how dragon flight is And moving forward I’m positive they will continue to listen to feedback like they did very well these 2 years
37:15 when the random guy say he doesnt have time for both. 2 mmos usualy dont line up their patches and expansions, you can easily jump form one to another when content dryes up. also even if they line up ff 14 is the easiest mmo to casualy log in and wow is in DF actualy following his footsteps on this, and with acount wide next jumping around is going to be super easy.
The difference between armor in wow and in ff14 is that ff14 armor was from the beginning made to be dyeable, wow transmog was not, so if wow wants dyeable armor a lot of transmog will be left behind because that means they have to remake every transmog to apply different layers to dye. but i dont care if transmog is dyeable, but could atleast be more colors of it or atleast when you get one armor you can choose between colors of that transmog and you must craft dyes for that armor something what alchemist can use or it can be for everybody as all spec craft.
And that Blizz reuses the exact same set in different colours for all content now. At least a few expansions ago PvP and PvE would have different gear designs and you wouldn't find the exact same weapon everywhere in the patch because they only made one set of weapons in 4 different colours.
This felt like a true nerd Blizzcon 😂 all the stuff they are giving us (WORLD CONTENT) is huge. They are listening! Bro. Also, whyyy is Ian not aging?! Lol hes the sameeee for years now ALLLSOOOOO - PALADIN TALENTS💜✨💅🏼 im a DH main but Pala second main - so Im excited omg omg omg
I stopped playing shortly after BFA launched. Tried a trial last night and it felt different, and not in a good way. It left me feeling very conflicted.
