You CAN do deep squats, my friend!

Building up to deep squats can be a very simple, enjoyable process!
The ability to get up off the ground without the assistance of your arms is important.
As usual, we can start with something we CAN do and build up!
IMPORTANT: I forgot to mention during the video that we should always follow the progressions that don't use a full range of motion (like chair squats and half squats) with one that does. For example, following chair squats with a single set of jackknife squats. I feel like it's important to train the full squat motion, even if part of it is assisted!
Here are the progressions:
Resisted Lying Squats
Goal: 3 Sets of 50
Jackknife Squats
Goal: 3 Sets of 35
Assisted Squats:
Goal: 2-3 Sets of 30
Chair Squats:
Goal: 2 Sets of 35
Half Squats
Goal: 2 Sets of 35
FULL SQUATS! TADA!
Hope this helps you out!

You all are extremely dedicated. I usually try to answer the first several comments I get, but I was making the thumbnail. By the time I finished, I was already way behind! Answering those messages now. Thank you so much for being your wonderful selves. I had a great time making this video. The past few weeks I've had energy but just haven't been inspired as much. I started cycling my coffee properly again and I'm back on the wagon. The metaphorical wagon. Maybe an actual wagon as well. They're handy. We'll see. I will be trying HARD to get the app content finished this week, so keep an eye out for it soon! If there's a small delay in content, that's why! Love you all!

@AbigailPoirier
@AbigailPoirier 2 года назад
Yep. My ankles haven't been flexible enough...ever? I didn't discover it until my late teens. Raised heels works, or holding a weight out in front of me to counterbalance. Edit: the calf raises did not work for me, at least not for the year or so I tried them. (I did this prior to watching Hampton's video.) Gradually lowering the height of my raised heel seemed to extend my range of motion a little bit? But eventually I decided that it just wasn't a priority.

I agree about knees over toes guy. He has a book called Knee Ability Zero (in this case the "zero" means no equipment) which is a fairly cheap way to start off his main knee program. One thing that is nice about it is it has progressions for each exercise, similar to how this video is structured.

A quick tip on your camera. Once you have the focus set, turn off auto focus. This means that you will always stay in focus, even if you move a bit. Right now, sometimes your face goes blurry as the camera decides to focus on your background. Keep up the great work Hampton !

Wait, turn OFF auto focus? Wouldn't that keep me blurry? What setting should I have it on? I don't have anyone behind the camera or a remote, so I press record, wait for the camera to focus, then speak/move. And yeah I noticed sometimes it was blurry! I considered redoing those shots but I just rolled with it, haha. Thanks a lot for the advice man!
@TechDoctorUK
@TechDoctorUK 3 года назад
@@HybridCalisthenics Do it like this: 1. Get in position in front of the camera 2. Let autofocus get you in focus 3. Once the picture is clear/sharp, switch to manual focus. So long as you stand more or less in the same area, you will always be in focus and you camera will never try and focus on anything else. Try it with a small 1min clip and you'll see you're always in focus 🙌

For anyone discouraged with their workouts... Just focus on working out as well as you can for a week. Then the following week just try to improve slightly from the previous week. Continue that trend week after week, and as long as you're slightly improving each week, you'll notice a massive difference after a year. It's all about small improvements that add up over a long period of time. Just don't quit.

That was my approach. I was highly motivated by this channel as he normalized starting veeeery low. I am on my push up journey and started with literally 1 wall push up. The next day I did to. The day after 3. When I started to get sore muscles I simply rested a day and then continued. Currently I'm at 3x20 inclined push ups from mid thigh hight. My goal is to doba regular push up by the end of the year, so plenty of time to get there. Kepp going slow, but steadily. This mind set was a game changer as it keeps motivating me, unlike all other approaches that just made me feel weak and discouraged.

I'm starting my journey following your video of a routine for beginners and currently doing the jacknife squats is the most difficult part because I lack of the ankle mobility, this video is amazing and I feel I can make it now if I try it out! with the right amount of patience, obviously, I dont want to fuck up something that i'm starting to like. Every single video of you is a journey to knowing more and more about my muscles and my body and I feel like I can finally move on, accept and make a better version of myself, bit by bit, after 20 years in this world hating and shaming myself for the body I have. You are truly amazing and changing lives from all around the globe.

'The Hamptons' is really just a place where there are lots and lots of Hampton's hanging out, being really nice and kind, greeting each other "Hello my brother Hampton!" "Why hello brother Hampton!" "And look over there it's our other brother Hampton!" "Say Hampton, would you be interested in doing some push ups with me?" "Why yes I would Hampton, what about our other brother, Hampton?" "Ahh thankyou for the invitation, however I must go check on my plants, and sing to them, incase they are lonely" This is why the Hamptons is so expensive to visit or stay at, it's so goddarn nice!!
