@@jake1408 wait isn't Texas the only state with a speed limit of 85. There for I can go a max of 95 without getting pulled over. And mabye faster if no one's on the road
Coin Roll Hunting and Basketball Man, I got pulled over last summer by a state trooper doing 77 in a 65, and I got a ticket. I promise you if they catch you going 10 over they’ll pull you over.
GOOD. But unrestricted would be better, because then the driver could choose a perfect not too fast not too slow speed - in other words, their own ideal speed limit for themselves and what their bum is in or on.
@@owenprince4823 Actually it isn't drivers often are more alert when driving at higher speed than driving at lower speeds, which is why the freeway in Germany or called the autobahn has no speed limit because it has less accidents than the usa.
@@joshuaatonio2258 the speed limit should never be set by idiots. Most people who speed are idiots. The engineers who design the road set the speed limit because they do the math and calculate the safe speed based on the road design, the cars that will be on it and the average driver. I have done the math to calculate the curve of a road and speed that would be safe on that curve. The idiots who speed would not be able to do a fraction of the math that I have done, in fact a woman who claimed I was the idiot and that she was brilliant finally admitted that she was not able to do elementary grade fractions. You have NO idea why there is a different speed on the autobahn. It has NOTHING to do with how alert a driver is and NOTHING to do with less accidents.
@SafeSpeeder You claim to be an expert in math in statistics but your comment proved that you are a liar and an idiot. I don't care if I convinced you or not. The law of nature and the law of momentum will kill you and there will be one less moron on the road.
owen prince First of all, it is really uncomfortable driving at speed limits. Speed limits are way too low. What is also better is that they should strictly enforce all the Keep right except to pass law as much as speed limits on I-95. Maybe if nobody hogged the left lane and slow people go to right lane and fast people go to left and pass others, there would not be as much accidents as there is now.

Although I agree the main problem is that there is a wide variance of vehicle performance and people are not trained like Europeans are at driving the autobahn. If the posted speed limit is 100 MPH you would have to deal with economy cars barely going past 100 at pedal-to-metal vs premium cars being able to quickly do so but lack power to suddenly do so vs sport cars easily going 100 vs exotics laughing at everyone else while some ancient 1960's car wonders why is everyone racing past them. Limits are posted so that most vehicles can sustain them. We will not see a road with a 100 MPH limit until it's determined that most of the USA owns a car that can do so and safely do as such. [In other words traffic exists because there is no government mandate that requires an arbitrary minimum i.e. "accelerate from 0-100 in 15 seconds]
@@stephe4721 Not years, more like a couple of months. And you can also drive at 17 years old with an experienced passenger while some years ago it wasn't legal until 18.
the reason for that is exactly what this woman said. If people are gonna pass on the right lane because someone is in the left lane then its gonna cuuse problems. Germans almost never do that because they have to be trained a lot more to get there drving liscence. So what she sais. (passing on the right lane because they are on their phones ) really annoys me.
I want a 120 mph speed limit or more. So that way I can travel without going in a plane if only russias bridge deal wasn't cancelled. And just go wherever I want in the world.
There have been 16 fatalities in the 85 mph portion of the road since it opened in 2012. Most of them were due to careless or drunk driving. Yeah, it would be much nicer if the fatality rate was 0 but in our world unfortunately that is not the way things are. So stop blaming the speed limit. There was more fatalities when the national speed limit was 55 than there is today. We also have a lot more people now as well.
Any interstate that ends with 95 in Maryland is absolutely terrible to drive on. I’ve seen semi trucks go 100+ mph on those roads. Florida’s crazy too.
Hi Todd Davis, I am trying to figure out how you think a prius can barely do 85mph. I have had two priuses so far. My 2002 model would do 100mph on the flat. My current 2005 prius will do 106mph on the flat even with 326,000 miles. I also topped out a 2011 model and hit 114 mph.
LOL 87mph is the standard speed limit on ALL divided highways in Poland. Plus you can go over about 10mph without the police stopping you. You'd think the US would have faster speed limits because of greater distances, but it only has a short stretch of 85mph road. 😂😂😂
You also skip the massive traffic jams between Georgetown and San Antonio. I-35 is a nightmare thru those areas due to San Antonio is the 6th biggest city in America and Austin is 11th. From 30 miles north of Austin to San Antonio it's totally developed. I've driven the toll road several times. Most drivers do 85. Very few speed compared to a 70mph stretch of rural interstate.
This is great and I think CA, NM, AZ, NV will follow TX's lead on establishing 85mph speed limit. Perhaps I-78 from Exit 1-35 and Exit 60 to NJ State line can support 85mph from a 65mph max in Pennsylvania or I-78 East in New Jersey from Pa stateline to the Bergen street overpass in Newark can also handle 85mph speed limit.
I've done 97 on a prius before. It's not fun, but it I think it has the chops to do max 105, but it really gets hairy around that amount as the wind noise and the ping-ponging increase.
Illinois- Tri State Tollway 55 mph Texas- Toll 130 85 mph --------- 65 mph only first few miles south of WI-IL state line/trucks: 55 80 mph north of Toll 45 (Creedmoor) 85 mph south of Toll 45 (Creedmoor)
I have drove across this highway alot going from corpus to COTA for f1 races and nascar races. We took a Mercedes luxury van and I drove for the whole way down this road abd top speed of the sprinter van was 105 and I was getting passed standing still by sports cars and trucks and even 18 wheelers going 110 plus lol abd cops don't monitor this at all. I was driving my camaro down it once abd toped it out at 160 mph and not 1 cop
My dad and I just traveled this today from Seguin to Georgetown. It was AMAZING. No headaches at all until we got on I-35. The traffic was stop and go/crowded all the way until central Dallas. I much prefer paying tolls in Texas than using dated infrastructure.
SanDiegoInnOut we took it to avoid the Austin traffic on I-35 on the way to San Antonio. I was so surprised when I saw 85, and even more surprised that it’s the fastest highway
I don't understand why some states won't raise their limits. In 2014 FL had 75 mph legislation pass both the house & senate and had popular support statewide. But Gov. Rick Scott, truly an awful man for many reasons, vetoed the limit after AAA agreed to campaign contributions for his upcoming election later that year.
Wooooooohhh eighty five.... Holyyyy shiiiiiiiiiiiii..... I am owning a 2 litre Diesel 4 cylinder B Class w246 with 136 HP.... I commonly drive not less than 100 mph on highways... If empty, I go 120 or max 130 ...
two lane highways (US/State) Illinois- 55 mph Texas- 70 mph (75 mph on some roads) -------------------------------------------- Montana- 70 mph/NIGHT: 65 mph (trucks deduct 10 day/night) want another reason to come to Texas?
It couldn't happen. The Highways in America ARE NOT designed and Built for excessive Speed. Unlike The Autobahn in Germany... Once you've driven on that, you will be Highly Pissed at America's Interstate Highway System if you love to drive and like speed...
why is everyone freaking out about this, go to the country side and go on the back roads there. cops don’t rarely drive through there, if ever, and everyone casually goes 80-100 on them. it’s super fun.
