Great content, Alice! I have had noise-induced tinnitus for over 40 years (I am 60 now) with 11 spikes: I eventually habituated to all of them doing essentially what you are discussing. In fact, I am just a little over 2 months into my latest spike, and am in the very early stages of habituation. We all can get there: it just takes time; the brain eventually learns to filter out the noise, and the improvement is not linear, but it does improve. I think you are helping lots of folks in the 'negative feedback loop' time: It does get better!

I’m still trapped in this unhealthy obsession of seeking it out. From the moment I wake, when I’m driving my car, watching tv, whatever, I’m listening out for it. Not that it’s hard not to as it’s so loud but I had hoped that after 5 months, I’d have learned to stop this cruel habit and started to refocus and distract from it but no.

It takes time to shift your focus from T. It’s very frustrating I know, probably took me the best part of 3 years to accept and allow the noise to be there without judgement. Over time you’ll see small subtle changes in the pitch and eventually you’ll be more accepting of it.

@@butler38510 3 years! Oh god, I feel so tortured after just 5 months. I did have one whole week of ‘I’ve got this’ but…..The prospect of it having it for years before coming to terms with it is terrifying. I suffer terrible anxiety and depression, will soon be living alone as my son leaves for the airforce in 3 weeks so am going to be left with this hell and no distractions at all. I know I’m telling myself negative thoughts which obviously doesn’t help at all. It’s just so hard to refocus on anything else. Thank you though. I do appreciate your support ♥️

@@carolfawcett3586 having read so many comments from people both here and on Facebook tinnitus sites, I realise I’m still relatively new to it so I just have to hope that given time, I too will be able to focus on life and completely forget I have this. I think removing myself from some of the Facebook “support” groups however would be wise as there’s some on there who’ve had it 20+ yrs and still struggling, which only puts the fear of god up me even more. Thank you. All the very best to you Carol ♥️

the sound may be there, but that which knows the sound is silent. It is silence itself -This statement suggests that while there may be audible sounds, the awareness or consciousness that perceives those sounds remains in a state of silence. The idea is that the true essence of awareness is silent, and it is, in essence, silence itself. It reflects a deeper understanding of consciousness and the quiet nature of the observer❤

Alice, you are awesome. Your message aligns with the truth about overcoming Tinnitus, and you're right: It's not easy, but it is possible. I had become habituated to Tinnitus a year ago, but for some reason it's come back with a vengeance. All I have to do is apply the principles you've outlined in your videos, stay positive, and I believe this dark period I'm going through right now will become a mere stage of my life. You are an inspiration. Thank you

You can over come your tinnitus if it isnt really bad damage.. if you have reactive tinnitus and hyperacusis you need to stay in quiet and let inflammation die down.

Thank you very much Alice. I'm interested to hear about your meditation experience. Prior to my recent spike, I used to meditate everyday. Now that it seems louder and more intrusive, I feel like I want to avoid meditation because I'm more likely to hear it when I sit still. I'm afraid of the very thing that used to be my source of peace. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Hi Alice, thanks for the hopeful vids! I have a question My tinnitus has gone into tinnitus and visual snow, and a very very hyperactive state of being , so overstressed it is crazy... You are talking about making tinnitus just as regular as traffic sound; but to me traffic sound is as stressing and loud as every sound , also the tinnitus... How can I reduce this cause it is out of control so bad... Thanks in advance! Alex
@alicemoyle
@alicemoyle 3 месяца назад
Hey Alex! Thank you for sharing and you're more than welcome for the videos. I am sorry to hear about your struggles. I can totally relate to being hyperactive and over stressed. I was in a state like this for months. I only started to really feel better overall with tinnitus and my health the more deep self work i did, looking at my childhood and patterns i developed as an adult. It was by addressing the root causes of my anxiety and hyper vigilance, that i was able to see progress in calming it down. I have practiced mindfulness a lot which includes body practices like deep breathing, body scans and also meditation. I think getting into nature in quiet nature is incredibly healing and powerful as well. We cannot logically think ourselves into being in a calmer state - we need to teach our body not through our thoughts but body based practices. Taking deep breaths is essentially tricking your brain into thinking you are relieved and it can work wonders over time the more it is practiced. Once I was able to regulate my nervous system more, the easier it was to learn to accept and not fear the tinnitus sound and make progress with that as well. I hope this makes sense! Wishing you all the best.

Thanks for sharing! Yes, it is the focus on the tinnitus sound that ends up causing so much of the suffering we can all experience. The more we focus on it, the worse it gets. It is a challenging cycle to come out of! I stopped wearing earphones for some time thinking that it would make everything worse, however, I am back to using them again and am just careful about the volume. I hope you are doing okay and wishing you all the best!

It mainly bothers me at the moment when I am in bed because that's when it is most present when I am lying down in the quiet. Also waking up in the morning as I started grinding my teeth in the night so my jaw is cracking in the morning despite wearing a mouthguard. I don't know how I can stop that as I cannot control what I do in my sleep. Did you have this issue too ?😢

Thanks for your reply. I'm wondering if it ever goes away as I'm annoyed at myself for unintentionally starting my t with self injury. As I'm worried I may never ride a plane again, sleep in silence again, ride theme park rides again and other things I took for granted.
