one thing that I told myself in the beginning of my journey to stop looking at tinnitus as a threat was to try to look at tinnitus like your nose its always there but most of the time you can’t see it because your brain decides to ignore it because it doesn’t see it as anything important and thats what people with tinnitus need to do look at less as a threat and more of a everyday background noise and accept to live with it and eventually your brain will look at it like your noise and begin to ignore it and most of the time you wont even hear unless you try to hear it on purpose much like looking at your nose

Thank you for the personal and candid video discussion about this. It’s needed, and hopeful. Tinnitus distress can also be trauma, and an opportunity to take care of ourselves in a self compassionate way, maybe beyond other experiences we’ve had to overcome. I agree with you, we need to move away from focusing on the ringing, and instead towards our internal self and deal with the cognitive thoughts, distortions, and automatic thinking due to our brain caught up in flight and fight - get back to focusing on Life. The brain will need time, and since none of us are going anyway, learn new relaxation and life changing skills along the way. I’m in my 4 month of treatment with treblehealth in the US and use maskers, sound therapy, and CBT, Acceptance (ACT), and psycho therapy because I’m a very sensitive person and need the support and did not hesitate to reach out. Others’ may not need as much. I’m doing much better now and finally moving towards the 3rd stage of habituation, moving away from a couple of months of anxiety. All of this is our natural process. Love and support yourself and receive it from others. You’re allowed. Peace. I think too, it could be helpful if you mention those wonderful books in your video.

thanks for making content like this, as I have mentioned to you in a previous comment on another video you have made, my journey with tinnitus started suddenly 2 months ago. I found out it was an ear infection with fluid behind my eardrum. Since finding videos on tinnitus and your content, that brings hope instead of doom and gloom. I've been slowly habiuating to it. I'm noticing a change in the volume, that it is becoming softer and more in the background, when I don't rest well or stressed the volume changes and becomes louder. I catch myself trying to notice if the ringing has went away then I hear it again. I'm trying to pull myself away from looking for the tinnitus, not successful yet. Your content brings hope to me and I thank you. I look foward to all your future videos.

stay strong ive had tinnitus for 3 years just like alice and honestly its a normal things to me now most of the time I never hear it always try to remind yourself that it isn’t harmful as you do this it will begin to rewire your brain to realize that it isn’t a threat and begin to ignore it by looking at it like a non threat your brain will leave the panic mode that we implement by looking at it as harmful which leads to anxiety, scaredom etc. and it will slowly rewire to ignore the sound as it doesn’t deem the sound important.

The mindset that I've built in order to overcome tinnitus it's thinking that is normal. We all were born listening to it. So if you can see it like that you will start ignoring it, and it's not a bad idea to do it consciously as well. I've had it when I was anxious. My anxiety triggered my tinnitus and when I searched for tinnitus I started listening even more... So I realized, the more conscious you are about this natural sounds the more you will hear them. I'm pretty sure everything is psychological. It's because we have told our brain that there's something wrong that our brain has focused on it. My tinnitus has just started 5 days ago... And frankly I don't wanna brag, but I'd say that currently I don't hear it 90% of the time (when I started researching information I'd hear it more than 40% of the time). I think it's part of ourselves and I'm not talking in a positive way, I really mean it, we were born with it. Greetings. Your videos really helped me, now I'm more hopeful. ❤❤ I wanna add that I've read several stories of people talking about how overcoming anxiety made them overcame tinnitus. Because tinnitus it's just a symptom it's not the cause itself. And I wouldn't say that it works because I'm in an anxious environment so it's not possible to me to talk from my perspective. Maybe you've noticed but my main language is not English, my main language is Spanish and I've seen some videos from a guy who has been on television shows and such, he says the same as you, you shouldn't fear tinnitus, and you shouldn't pay attention to tinnitus, but he also says, tinnitus might be a symptom of anxiety not a disease. In conclusion if you can relax your nervous system and if you can ignore tinnitus and see it as something normal, your brain will kick tinnitus out to the background. And it makes sense. I felt tinnitus because of my anxiety, and I got obsessed from what I read on internet. It's like saying, don't think of a pink elephant, you will think of it...

And im telling you this is true for you too! Stay strong do not give up! Now when i go to loud settings, concerts, clubs, etc. i use ear protection, as i feel everyone should, tinnitus or not. What exactly was your diagnosis like what caused your tinnitus? it’s usually a symptom of something, noise or from hearing loss. I understand it’s faded into the background but you must’ve had a volume drop. Not everyone can get used to loud tinnitus or tinnitus you can actually feel in your ears.
@alicemoyle
@alicemoyle 10 месяцев назад
Hey! There are many causes of tinnitus and everyone definitely differs! Mine began from fluid in my ears and was extremely loud, i could barely hear anything else for a while. I was in an incredibly anxious state in my life at the time as well and therefore i feared the sound so much and struggled with it emotionally and lacked coping mechanisms, that it created this negative feedback loop of latching onto the sound which a lot of people experience. Only once i started to work on my anxiety levels and aspects of my life/beliefs, it got gradually better overtime. I know people who get tinnitus that can come and go because they don’t latch onto it or worry about it. From what i have learned from experts in the field, everyone has internal tinnitus sounds naturally 24/7, its just about whether our brains filter it out or not and therefore the focus on tinnitus and whether we can hear it or not is what makes the neural pathways in our brain strengthen it and can make it chronic/louder over a longer period of time which is what is very hard to unlearn for many, regardless of the cause. I have had loud tinnitus on and off over a long time and the volume would always change and not be consistent. It is always the loudest when i am anxious, run down or something feels out of balance. I have also had many other symptoms with tinnitus like popping sounds, sound sensitivity and more. I do believe that many people can overcome tinnitus with the right mindset, whether that means that they don’t hear it at all anymore/most of the time or they get to a point where the sound doesn’t bother them and lessens even a little bit which makes it more manageable due to honing in on on self work and better coping strategies and finding what they enjoy in life for more balance! ☺️

@alicemoyle
@alicemoyle 8 месяцев назад
Mindfulness is a mental practice of focusing one's attention on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one's feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations. It's often used as a therapeutic technique to manage stress, anxiety, and other mental health issues. Mindfulness encourages awareness without judgment, allowing individuals to experience the present more fully and reduce negative or distracting thoughts. This can include meditation for example. CBT is a different mode of therapy altogether! It is possible to experience tinnitus without exactly focusing on it, however the persistent focus on it is what keeps it around for longer and often makes it louder!

I know that in some cases it can get much better, and even just stop. But I also fear it never stopping and just getting worse. Its crazy really that for something which can be so devastating, that theres no way a doctor or whatever can just put a stop to it.
@alicemoyle
@alicemoyle 9 месяцев назад
I can really empathise with what you are saying. I had many moments where I just felt like existing was so tiring. The exhaustion that tinnitus can put you through is immense. I also remember feeling like it would never be possible to overcome tinnitus and that anyone that said that you can was lying. Even though I can still hear my tinnitus at times (especially when I am talking about it and focusing on it) I have gotten to a place where I can enjoy my life again. It takes time and doesn't happen overnight, however, it is possible and keep reminding yourself of this! The more you worry about it, the more it will be in your awareness. Try to focus on other things, to find joy and balance in your life and tinnitus can start to fade into the background.
