In a world of sentient robots, striving young inventor Rodney Copperbottom (Ewan McGregor) wants to work for the avuncular Bigweld (Mel Brooks), whose Bigweld Industries makes spare robot parts. But Bigweld has just been deposed as company head by the villainous Phineas T. Ratchet (Greg Kinnear), who wants to make all robots submit to profitable forced upgrades. In this animated adventure, Rodney and his friend Fender (Robin Williams) go underground to fight Ratchet's evil plans.

This was literally my favorite scene, I remember going on the dvd menu as a kid and looking for this specific scene to watch over and over again! Speaking of dvd menus, this movie had some of the best mini games on it! I loved the one where you build a robot that makes domino patterns!

The robots wear chassis instead of cloths so when Rodney asks "Are these my big boy parts," and his father said "These are hand me downs," because of that the chassis is not made to fit him that is why it looks really weird.

Watching this made me remember, the version we got in Australia (probably not just us) had some differences. Aunt Fanny or whatever her name is, was name-changed to Aunt Fant (It could have been Aunt Fan or something like that, I never looked up the spelling, I'm just going by ear). And for some reason, Fender's girlfriend had a different voice actor. I think the name is because, some people found the word Fanny to be offensive. Not sure about the voice, though.

I love Robots! It’s one of those crazy movies that make sense to me, even within this crazy world that we live in. Which is totally weird, that if we were Robots, it would be this movie as a metaphor. Also, hearing the Audio commentary on the movie is just wonderful to hear little details.

To be for they did it to themselves. They had some good movies like Robots, Ice Age, and Epic. But they also made Rio, Horton Hears a Who, Spies in Disguise; and way to many Ice Age Sequels. On top of that, those movies we’re kind of following the trend of what everybody else was doing at the time, making them generic. Add this to more competition with Disney, Pixar and Dreamworks, they’re doom was eminent.

Me and my grandmother love this film I even have somewhere in my house a Rodney Copperbottom 7" figure I got when I was 5 to 6 at Toys R Us man I loved taking the removable head off you could even see the circuits I am glad you liked the weirdness of this film and I enjoyed watching you react great job.

I don't know why but this reminds of the movie Repo: The Genetic Opera, where people have to pay for organ replacements due to a organ failure epidemic and they get hacked if they miss a payment. This makes me think of a potential sequel for that where organ replacement isn't enough anymore and the rates have gone up, so certain people have been secretly building prosthetics from whatever they can find(scrap/junk/whatever)and eventually that evolved into the 'Robots' civilization cos the robots needing spare parts and getting captured to go to the chop shop works the same way.

Ewan McGregor plays Rodney as an adult and Stanley Tucci plays his dad Herb. The funny part is that they both star together again in 2013’s Jack the Giant Slayer and Ewan McGregor’s character kills Stanley Tucci’s character near the third act.
