I like the idea using the grease to mark it, servers as a reference point and the grease must help keeping the heat down on the drill bit and keeping it sharp, also looks like your on a low and steady setting. Thanks doing this shortly on my 01 S10 4 cylinder
Recently got a backhalf narrowed S10 frame for a project build. Now I just need to find the time to get started putting it together. My main priority right now is finishing my house. There are so many cool fiberglass S10 hoods I got mine from a place in Ohio for a really good price. 4 inches of extra clearance but has a ram air appearance to it. Similar to a '80' Z28 hood. Not cowl induction style hood. 3M panal bond works real good if you are just going to put a custom hood scoop on your hood. I use green florist foam glue em together and then shape them with an electric turkey knife and a big spoon to create the shape I want. Then wrap with Saran wrap and foil tape then fiberglass and resin the whole thing and presto you have a one of a kind custom hood scoop. "diy style"
It would be cool to see how you removed the support webbing on the underside of the hood. Gain some clearance and lose a few pounds off the front of the truck. Does the hood feel flimsy without it?
I just cut across it with a cut off wheel and only removed what I needed. Hood doesn't feel flimsy because a lot of the bracing around the edge is still there
