You Don't Need A Pilot's License To Fly This Jet Ski Plane

This aircraft is half jet ski and half plane. The FlyNano combines marine and aviation technology, creating the lightweight plane that only weighs 70kg. A pilot's license is not required to fly the aircraft, but it is not for beginners as some flying experience is recommended before attempting to fly the seaplane.
FlyNano is powered by an electric motor that can reach speeds of up to 75 mph. The aircraft is still in development and the price has yet to be confirmed, but it could cost around $40,000.

This has been an idea of mine for quite some time, using a jet ski with ultra light wings and a gearbox that ran off the jet ski to turn a prop. Now we have the FlyNano, 70 kg, 75 mph, that's right on the edge, like it.

So... this is being marketed to people who dropped out of Aviation school or what? You don't need a pilot's license but you should have some training? That's like... a very small percentage of the general population. I think 3 people total.

3 castors under the hull and wings and it's a land based plane. add 200w of of flexible solar panels to the wings and fly for hours. Total cost to build at home not over $5000.

This is not as good as the hoverwing. Which is a hover-craft with wings and operates on the “Ground Effect Theory”. Those can fly longer and better because of the gas engine and Hover-craft for lift.

Seeing as how you’re supposed to fly it over water, the height shouldn’t really matter much when it comes to obstacles. But seeing as how it’s cruising around 75mph but can fly outside of ground effect, I’d say the sky is the limit. Probably not much higher than 50-100 feet, unless they have some good controls and you can lean or enrich the fuel.

@@jvii9761 it’s electric so no fuel concerns. I think I read depending on the Amps the range will be 40-60 miles and the maximum suggested height isn’t to exceed 30 meters or 100ft.

It's license free because of being an ultralight I suppose. Can't be because of ground effect since it flew too high for that. I can't tell if it's too wide for trailering, and it can only take off from water unless there's provision for landing gear. In any case it's awfully expensive.

Wonderful design, great work. Love it. I thought it was a ground effect craft but it can fly! (above its wingspan) Very nice. Just fly it as a ground effect craft and enjoy yourself. As they say with ultralights, "Fly them as high as you want to fall" I have a pilots licence and I would love to have one of these to fly just above the water extending it's distance. Thank you for your dedication.

I can see someone replacing the prop for more speed and it shredding their face. I get why the props in front but they should redistribute some weight so they can move it to the back.

This is actually a wing in ground effect aircraft. Maximum altitude would not be high. It’s a great concept bu the two I have reported on never seem to have become commercially successful. Scary as hell to ride in one too.

If you can only fly it low and over calm water (though it should work over flat ground) then it is an ekranoplan

they buried that piece of important info in the company website's faq. It says 10-15 minutes on one full charge, with factors like pilot's weight, how high and fast you fly determining how long the charge lasts.

$40,000? Hmmm. for twice that, you can find a good used SeaMax M22 that's far more practical (30mpg, 500mi range, 105mph cruise, and seats two w/luggage. Oh, and it can land on water or land. But I would agree this Nano gadget may provide more thrills, but when that wears off, the SeaMax would still have practical applications and function as a viable transport.

Correct, you don't need a PILOT's license, you need an EXPERIMENTAL PILOT's LICENSE, as this is considered by the FAA to be an Experimental, or Ultralight, Aircraft and IS still regulated. It's not like you can just drive one off the lot straight into the air and to the lake...

Make a gas powered one please easier to deal with will not have to wait around for it to charge up and will give you more flying time wile its calm battery's ok but waiting for it to recharge as the wind picks up would suck make the most out of the light wind

Im an old school seaplane pilot. Thus thing looks dangerous as hell!!! particularly when operating on glassy water where you cannot determine where the surface if the water is. More than one experienced pilot has lost his life in seaplane glassy water operations.

Full face shield required. Who in heck thought it was a good idea have the "pilot" look through the prop without a windshield in between, especially with all that water spray.

Lot of fun, yes, but don't see much success in the market for this product - one person only - only 1 hr battery - can only take off and land in calm water (option for landing on the ground would be ideal) It is really more like a jetski with wings

I would guess that the charge will last about 30 min. Most small electric flyers are like that anyway. As the batteries age the charge will fade to about half this. So $40K for a 15 min ride into a hill at 75 MPH. Fun way to die.
