Simply gorgeous- her voice and radiant beauty. You can see Meryl beaming at Olivia through her segment and Bette gesturing w/ her hand - pounding it over her heart, to note how beautiful Olivia's voice is. And Olivia is a stunning looking woman too. Perfect pitch, "Class A" woman.
She is indeed! Beautiful on the inside, where it counts the most, as she is on the outside! She is positively gorgeous & just an all around sweet person! ♥️
i grew up with these wonderful singers. They just do not have singers like this today. I am happy I grew up listening to these great singers. Love them.
I had an opportunity to "see" her out shopping one day. While I was pleasant and gave her plenty of space, two people asked for a photo and autograph. BIG mistake! Meryl was downright vicious even called them trash. Lost respect for her that day.
I am 41 years old and, my dear Olivia, you have been my inspiration and accompanied me in the good and the bad moments, in happy and sad ones, since I was 14 years old. I can't imagine a world where there is no you, but you will forever live in my heart and in my thoughts. I know that someday we will share the same time and space once again. In the meantime, rest in peace, wherever you are. The world is a better place because of hearts like yours - because of people like you! And the echo of your unique and phenomenal voice will always LIVe on... You are love and light! I will always love you, Olivia. 💙💜💚❤🤍💗
This was when they were sure Hillary Clinton was going to win these BACKSTABBING WITCHES were sure the ONE WORLD ORDER Have Americans Freedoms Completely Gone By Now! Their True Selves Are Now Known!
Meryl has sung, (very well), in a few of her films. I also think she lent her voice to a Celeb Lullabye CD for charity? And YES, Olivia & Bette - two different styles, but both ethereal. Bette & Meryl were feeling the love when that adorable Aussie/Brit songbird, "Dame Olivia" 💙 sang her verse. Everything about ONJ is simple, understated perfection. Goldie CAN sing, but loses points for having no decorum, rudely talking to Cher, (ugh) while the ladies, (the pros), to her left, sang their hearts 💕 out. And even though it's 30 yrs. ago, Goldie shld knock of the "cutsie girl" bit, (ie,: at the end of her bit). She's still trying to play that card today, @ age 75? It didn't work then, & it's sad now, in 2022. Like Bette Davis in"Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?". An honest observation, not being mean spirited. Just age gracefully lady.
Bob, Meryl and Goldie chose to go into acting, and sing when they had a role that called for them to sing. Bette, Olivia, and Cher chose singing careers. It all depends on how you look at it. Meryl can sing anyone under the table... watch her sing in "Death Becomes Her," or better yet, watch Meryl sing "He's Me Pal" in "Ironweed," If you want to full range of what Meryl can do, watch her sing in "Into the Woods." Powerful!! And those are just a few of the movies Meryl has sang in.
Why does Goldie have to throw in the said "cutsie" onsense? Ridiculous.. & best summed up on "The Simpsons". Yes, Cheerleadering tryoutrs were 35 yrs ago, Goldie.
@@user-jl7ym4en5b Goldie is fabulous and she knew she couldn’t hit that high note, so what, she is fantastic and funny and sweet, a wonderfully funny and beautiful person. No negative comments are required.
I see trees of green, red roses too I see them bloom for me and you And I think to myself what a wonderful world I see skies of blue and clouds of white The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night And I think to myself what a wonderful world The colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky Are also on the faces of people going by I see friends shaking hands saying how do you do They're really saying I love you I hear babies crying, I watch them grow They'll learn much more than I'll never know And I think to myself what a wonderful world Yes I think to myself what a wonderful world
Isn’t this a satanick masonick helliweird entertainment industry worlock fest of all Inverted gender males deliberately deceiving the public by masquerading as women entertainers, allegedly?
I just watched this video and wondered if this is still a wonderful world. I can't tell you how rapidly the tears are falling down my face listening to these beautiful ladies and reflecting on this world.
I was there! It was a great night! Ted Danson and Robin Williams were there too. Ted just talked about the environment and Robin did stand up. Both Robin and Bette had major potty mouths but they were hilarious. Loved hearing two of my favorite actresses sing for the first time. First time to see Olivia as well... she still has a clear beautiful voice even now! All legendary ladies!
Hello! How are you doing today, please pardon me for intruding into your privacy but I just wanted to know if you’re a fan ? Have a great day… Stay Safe
@Susie She is an amazing actress , also. I’d loved to see, “Moonstruck”, again. 🌝. Cher won an Academy award. 🏆 Cool! 😎👍🏼 I remember when televised, Cher cried when she said Sonny Bono created, “Sonny & Cher”, at his fatal skying accident memorial. 💔
There is an incredible amount of talent on that stage !! Amazing and delightful and joyful. When this world gets me down, I come here and listen to this performance. Thank you ladies !!!
I keep watching this “uplifting video too!” It makes “my soul smile”😁 each time I listen to it, watching each of their joy filled faces as they sing, all standing arm & arm or with their arms wrapped around each other! Love this so much! 🎵🎶🎼🎵🎶🎼🎵🎶🎼🎵🎶🎼
Yeah...after I noticed that all the women were white (which wouldn't happen today), I wondered why Cher didn't sing...! (The combination of Bette and Olivia, however, was a joyous surprise.) But, actually, the best WAS saved for last. That was Darlene Love's unmistakable voice there at the end (and, most probably, her group the Blossoms, with her)!
Surprise? Have you never heard Meryl in Mamma Mia? Or Into the Woods? Mary Poppins Returns? Cats? (Okay...nobody saw that one...) She was also being considered for the film version of Sunset Boulevard....I think Sir ALW knows who can sing...
Wow, I'm really glad I came across this song sung by these lovely ladies. Bette Midler, Goldie Hawn, Olivia Newton John...Cher, Meryl Streep. Talented ladies. They don't make them like they used to. Nowadays all you see are sexual figures trying to be nastier than the next for a dollar. Anyhoot, God bless these ladies. I'm proud to have lived during their era and listened to their songs. I would have loved to have seen Bette Midler in concert though. 😌 #powerfulwomen
I love Olivia Newton John. She still has that beautiful silky voice. She hasn't really aged either, as lovely as ever. But I am dissappointed that Cher didn't sing. Cher has a very strong voice and she looks in pretty good shape. I loved all of them, but disappointed that Cher didn't sing. Otherwise FABULOUS. 👍🌹🙋♀️
My uncle, older than me, had quite a crush on pretty blonde Olivia. My aunt was also a pretty blonde. It fits. I'm more ONJ's age, and loved much of her music. It's hard to pick a favorite. Suddenly, with Cliff Richard is close. Have You Never Been Mellow, and Sam also resonate. Please Mister Please is a big winner. As soon as I heard she'd died, breast cancer came to mind. I remember hearing something about it. That was a very long time ago. But, yes, that's what they said as the cause. It went back 30 years. Why does it seem that life so often deals you opposing hands? You can have 'this', but you pay with 'that'. One one hand, she had that wonderful, powerful-yet-gentle voice. Her vocal offerings were frequently dreamlike. But, OTOH, 30 years of going in and out of advanced stage cancer must have been very hard. I don't know how much she suffered. But, she suffered. As if somehow paying dues for sins she never committed? I think not. I get tired of the idea that somehow the axiom "Who said life is fair?" covers it. It doesn't. It's just plain bad, and wrong. I'm so thankful that I have a memory of her as an audience member that always comes to mind. She's sitting on the front row, listening to a Bee Gees live performance. I think it was of their One Night Only concert. When they show the video of a young she and John Travolta snuggling up on the screen, maybe kissing (?), she looks embarrassed, reaches across, and covers her daughters eyes with her hands. That was pure mom stuff there, not that of a celebrity or performer. I'll be playing and singing these songs now, again. There are other great singers, sure. But, there is only one Olivia Newton John. They're her songs. I never knew you. But, RIP. And, RIP Uncle Frank. You probably didn't know I was taking notes. But, I was.
And as well nowadays April 2022 with a second f...crab, the war in Ukraine, and unfortunatly as well the "older wars" im Syria,Afghanistan and Iraq!!! Let us hope for peace and that the World is not ginns collaps of the World Climate Change!!! All the beloved best to you all and thank you for putting it on RU-vid 🎼🙏 Greetings from Europe to the US🇪🇺🇩🇪🇨🇭🇺🇸🙋♂️ yours, Joscha
Mr. Louie Armstrong grew up here in LaFollette TN. We have a festival here every year. Many people come here to display art, music, and fun. His family also comes here too. I'm so glad he's honored like that. God Bless everyone and everything!
Olivia was the most beautiful singer. She inspired me as a child. Her performance her topped the rest. I got goosebumps. What a wonderful lady she was!
I’m in my 50’s and been watching Goldie on screen my whole life… it’s the first time I ever seen her sing! I would’ve fell out if Lily Tomlin sang a solo.
thanks for mentioning her-'I was glad to be know someone agreed with me that it was Lily Tomlin on the left end. Was it her or Gilda Radner that did "Edith Ann" on the rocking chair in SNL talking like very little girl? (are you old enough to remember?) m.
Bette has a wonderful ability to find one or two songs that are lost gems & she brings life & attn. to them. Her 83' LP "No Frills" has "ALL I NEED TO KNOW " sung w/ the pathos & longing it deserves. It went nowhere. But in 89' Linda's , (I love her), version of the song w/ Aaron is so sugar coated ,slick & sickening, yet was a hit? Bette's "reading" of the tune is correct. And her early LP's always had 5 or 6 old, forgotten gems on them. A remarkable recording artist that never really sold like she deserved to.
What a wonderful World by Louis Armstrong is a perfect song as symbol of hope for our planet, rest in peace Olivia Newton John you will be sadly missed by all those in the music industry.
It makes me sad to think if this was done again today. It would be extremely elaborate, the singers would be half dressed and it wouldn’t look genuine like it did here. I miss the simple times **I want to add I am 33, a lot of comments are calling me a boomer. I grew up listening to the classics. We always had music playing. We all play an instrument and sing.
Ya these days todays performers would been singing in their underwear 🤣🤣 I think they dress dat way to distract the people from their lack of genuine talent 😬😬
The totally unique voice of Bette Midler, and Olivia Newton ,but what a beautiful voice of Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn ,Cher as beautiful as ever great group of singers and actresses !
Now we have real ladies showing their talents with their clothes on thank God there was a period in time when women did not try to see how much clothes they could take off to be on stage
CHER STAYED LOW BUT OLIVIA NEWTON JOHN WAS JUST SHINING LIGHT TRUE A TRUE ANGEL AND SHE WAS ALWAYS BEAUTIFUL ,WE WILL MISS HER ALWAYS ,I REALLY ENJOYED EMJOYED EACH OF YOU LOVE,ELIZABETH💗💗💗
Heaven was missing an Angel 🦋 on this evening ...they sent Olivia Newton-John down to earth to share her pitch perfect, belle, glorious, glorious voice & oh, that smile, her golden hair. She's just perfect. It's clear that Bette & Meryl think so too. There will never be anyone who could compare with Olivia. I hope she is still strong and in good health. 💙
I remember this song when I was a child and my father played on his cornet and one of his numerous friend had a wonderful voice she sang it with so much emotion. It makes me cry now when I hear it i am 90 years sold now and it stays with me foreverl
This has been a special song to me sung by Louie. I would never have thought I could enjoy it by anyone else. You girls did a beautiful job and made me smile!! Thank you!
