I have a 100% Cashmere P-coat that I bought 30 years ago. It’s by Hermes and cost a lot, but I have worn it every single winter and it still looks brand new. I have it dry cleaned once a year. Yes, it was expensive but the ‘cost per wear’ is pennies! 👍🥰‼️

Hi 👋🏻 Canadian here. Coats are a staple in my wardrobe. I have probably 10 and I know that seems excessive. BUT we had -43 C two weeks ago and today we were +10 so needless to say we need many different coats for the vastly changing temperatures! 😅

The fashion editors tell us we should put our money in good accessories, shoes and handbags. It is possible to look expensive wearing an inexpensive dress with high quality accessories. The opposite isn't really true.

Belts, classic handbags, shoes and jackets are the most expensive but longest running items in rotation in my closet. When you get good ones they can last with some TLC and styles always come back!

In the photo of your long camel coat, it looks like you still have the "X" stitch on the bottom of the back vent. You are supposed to cut this off. It is not decoration. It is just to hold it together during shipping so the vent doesn't get stretched out or wrinkled. If you don't cut it, the coat doesn't move correctly when you move. Not sure if you didn't know this or if you just forgot. Many people are not aware of this - you should make a public service announcement. What are friends for? ??❤❤❤❤❤❤

Same here! I've got an amazing collection of men's thrifted real wool or real linen or silk or leather blazers and coats, and my jeans and wool trousers are all men's. Thrifted leather belts are great too. I love all the pockets in men's clothes, and how deep they are, and it just really bothers me that women's clothing has had all of the pockets removed or shortened so that they're unusable, and usually the fabric just isn't up to par. Men's clothes are so much higher quality. I'm wearing a men's lightweight worsted wool overcoat, men's jeans, and men's Sambas at the moment.

I like your distinction between an expensive item and a quality item or one that you really like. Especially when you know a style that you really enjoy and finding a quality piece that will last and always look good. I am the person that is unable to find jeans that suit me, or perhaps I just don’t want to wear them. Instead I have a beautiful pair of navy trousers that I feel good in and fit me well. The whole jewellery issue is very interesting as well. I really mull over pieces too. Travelling is a good time to find something special, handmade or local to the area. It means far more to me than a designer brand with a huge price tag. I live in a very warm climate, our winters are mild in comparison to a lot of places. I have built up a lovely winter wardrobe with high quality pieces I have been wearing for 10 years and will continue to wear. I only wear them for 2-3 months.

In NC we have more rain than not, more mild than cold. I now have 3 trench coats (I finally succumbed) and I wear them 90% of the time. Elevates all outfits. And I am the same as you, where has cashmere been all my life? Perfect for cool to cold. Real fabrics are my go to now.

7:14-7:21: I live in a warm climate, so I didn't NEED a heavy coat. I also work remote. But I invested in a J. Crew lady day coat just in case. Day one wearing her, I received multiple compliments. Now I pull her out any time there is a slight chill in the air😂.

I never regret buying classic items in silk, cashmere or merino, cotton, linen or genuine leather. High-quality, thicker manmade cellulosic fabrics like Lyocell can be great, too, they breathe, unlike synthetics. Wearing silk was a revelation to me after decades of suffering skin rashes, sweating and overheating in polyester, never again! Nor acrylic, nylon, etc., life’s too short to be miserable in one’s clothes and accessories. No skinny, high heeled or pointed-toe shoes, either, 2-2.5 “ block heels are all I ever need. I love these because they’re comfortable and they give me the extra height I crave. I feel bad for women in the public eye, like the Princess of Wales, who feel they have to wear 4-5” heeled, pointy-toed pumps everyday. I haven’t seen a real woman actually wear shoes like that here in San Francisco since the early 90s, and even then, it was very rare. People here just mocked them for their pretentiousness and the grim looks of pain on the wearer’s face!

I certainly agree on the handbag. You have it for years. One black one brown and maybe a cream for summer. I also live in Florida, clearwater, and I have a great coat I have been wearing for years. It's cashmere and wool blend and still soft. And looks new-maybe because it doesn't get too much wear in Florida.

I thrift most of my clothes from the American Cancer Society Discovery Shop. There are in California, Ohio, Washington, Iowa, Michigan and Virginia. They only take good quality clothes and everything is is great shape.

I live in Florida too (Navarre), and it's been ridiculously cold here!!! I love this video--especially the jewelry and purse info. I also like the idea of thrifting belts. It's extremely possible to find high quality materials like leather and even good metals at thrift/vintage stores. And I agree about cashmere being such a lux and quality material. My daughter bought my current favorite cashmere pink sweater from Dillards. It's so soft. Wearing it really does feels like a "high-end" experience

Fun content today! I love having multiples of things and being able to change my whole look, but when I started wearing glasses I knew I needed to go with a quality pair that complimented my face. The cheap plastic pairs just don't work for me, so I don't regret spending 💰 on prescription eye wear! Also, I've always heard that cashmere brand pronounced "kwince" (rhymes with prince). 😊

You mentioned Quince cashmere, but not their jewelry; I have both. I absolutely LOVE my 14k rings from Quince, one with little diamonds, one without, and the 14k paperclip necklace. I mix & match them with my mom's wedding ring, a sterling silver ring I had made with a hawk embossed on the surface, a plain silver ring, and a 14k rose shaped ring with a little diamond in the center that I bought online from Goodwill. I'm looking at a Quince carryon bag and love my thin packable down-filled hoodie coat for spring/fall. I've found they run a bit on the snug side, by the way.

I tend to get in a rut with jewelry, having a few items I wear on repeat. A necklace/pendent or medium or heavy weight chain, a small pair of gold hoops I wear everyday unless I swap them out for an outfit specific pair of earrings. I find real gold or silver is worth the investment as it ages better than costume/plastic pieces. The last several years I have tended to wear a particular padded vest (olive green) during the winter as a standard layering piece. I live in Georgia, and when I visit my sister in Florida for the holidays, I rarely need a winter coat. The vest and occasionally a cardigan are usually sufficient for warmth and a final layer. This year/season I expanded the olive green neutral vest with similar ones in navy and red. A leather belt has long been a finishing item for my outfits. Leather belts last forever with a little care, and are so classic they go with anything. I have skinny ones (inch wide or less, in white, black, brown/tan), medium (1.5"-2.5"). I also have a straw belt or two for summer.

yes! leather belts are certainly essential in my wardrobe. For me I think only leather would last unless it's a belt that I only want to style occasionally and non-functional. I have this weird shape that most of my jeans fit well on the hips, but not on the waist, so I need belt to cinch them in. my good old leather belts have last years and years without falling apart. They weren't even from high-end brands or pricey.

I am hard on everyday jewelry because I don’t take it off. I wear sterling silver and 14/18k gold (white rose and gold). I also prefer channel set gemstones. I always lose gemstones if they were prong set. The grab will eventually get loosen resulting in stones being dislodged and missing.

I did buy one cashmere sweaters that is kind f itchy. So I bought a white long sleeve t shirt to wear under it. I have many other cashmere sweaters that don’t itch at all. I may try to wash it again and see if that helps.

Ty Anna. Can you please let me know what the exact jeans are that you have on with the white button down in the beginning of the video and then the pair of jeans you have on with the striped top and your cream colored songmont bag. Also when I clicked on the Abercrombie link for the the ultra highrise 90s jeans. There were several different styles in those jeans. They have a loose fit, straight leg, a relaxed leg etc. Can you tell me wich ones you have? I have a lot of A&F trousers and love them because I can order talls. I still have to get a songmont bag. I have many of the Quince cashmere sweaters and I love them. I was told that the pronunciation for Quince rhymes with prince. But don't quote me on that one. I really enjoyed this video.❤

How do i make decisions about what to purchase? It's like i go shoppjng and see so much i like and fits well its hard to narrow down everything. I have this issue. Like how many chambray shirts do I need? They're all different colors and i like them all some light some dark lol. Same with white button down shirts some linen some oversized some fitted and ends up being too much lol. Advice??

I am a cashmere snob. If it comes to a choice of eating or buying cashmere, then cashmere it is. My daughter in law is a journalist on TV and I’ve convinced her to invest in cashmere. Of course, I live vicariously through her and am constantly sending her cool and pretty cashmere sweaters. She loves them.

Quince rhymes with Vince or Since, but with the first consonant Q (kw), not K. I love the lighter weight of Quince’s cashmere; thicker cashmere can be too warm for my climate. I find all wool and cashmere itchy, so I wear a silk jersey tee underneath, they’re thin, soft and breathable. (No brand affiliation).

Hey Anna! Great list. A few years ago I decided to invest in every day real jewelry. I bought sets from Lagos, Marco Bicego and a few other brands that cost a lot more than I would normally spend. I’m in my 40’s and decide it was time to elevate my style with every day gold and silver earrings and necklaces. I also bought a few designer watches. Well as expensive as it all was, it was absolutely worth every penny. I will throw on one of two of these pieces every time I head out. They are timeless pieces and go with all my outfits without me having to think about it. I chose some pieces with mixed gold and silver together so I don’t even have to worry if I needed to choose gold or silver for the outfit. It’s been 4 years since then and I haven’t had to upgrade those pieces since they are timeless work horses. Costume jewelry is great for fun trends and parties and I do still enjoy wearing them- but those investment pieces are the glue that elevates the every day look and pulls it all together. ❤

A friend who is always looking flawless (hair and face). However no matter what she wears, she uses the same bag. She doesn’t change bag unless the old one falls apart. I always want to gift her handbags because it drives me crazy lol

Yes, always hold onto a few really good pieces! I have a 100% wool Banana Republic sweater vest from the 1980s. It's better quality than anything I can find today!

Can you do a good vegan leather purse finds video. I get it, leather lasts for years but GOOD and well made vegan leather can be beautiful. Just don’t want to buy leather items. Love your style and I think you can find really stylish well made options.

I love belts, but only in genuine leather. One only need buy them once, in a classic style and color, because they last forever. I still love and wear my first belt that l bought over 40 years ago, in a tan braided leather. I always bought Medium-sized ones, in case of weight gain as I get older. But, I’m actually much thinner at age 63 than I was at 43. So long as I slow down on the Nacho Cheese Doritos I’m munching on right now! I’m selling a Ralph Lauren “genuine leather” belt I got a few years ago, they didn’t mention that it’s lined with thick, inflexible plastic. I should have sent it right back, but I didn’t realize it until I tried to wear it, it’s awful. I hate it when originally good brands like this go to PlasticTown, I used to love Ralph Lauren. Not anymore.

I think less is more when it comes to handbags. I just gave away all my cheap ones that I got from Amazon. I have five really nice handbags and that’s all I really need. I could probably only get away with using three of them. As a society, I think Americans are very spoiled and we have way too much. I’ve really began to cut down on my wardrobe and my things I’m 68 and I don’t really need a lot because I don’t go out much anymore.😊

You and many influencers are into stripes. I bought one collared black and white stripe sweater. That’s it/ it will disappear soon! These coat options are ridiculously expensive! All over $350 up to $650? Who just tosses on a coat that is this expensive like it’s a jean jacket- rich people. Given this economy- time to move along to more affordable options!!

The demand for cashmere is so high now that cashmere goats are doing major destruction to grasslands with over-grazing and their hooves tearing up topsoil. They are a major contributor to desertification in China and Mongolia, which in turn is having a major climate impact. Please consider secondhand for your cashmere!
