When bass are feeling pressure, they do this almost all the time. Look for these types of locations on your lakes and rivers to find bass when they seem to disappear from the shallows. Actual footage that you can learn from underwater.

For people that don’t know, Buck Perry is considered the father of structure fishing, promoting the concept in the 1950’s or 60’s. He would catch stringers of big fish when most anglers were striking out. He said most fishermen had 90% of the fish at their back This video is fantastic. Thx

This I agree with. I remember in the early 80s when poes crank baits were really the only thing I fished and in order to use em in central Florida you had to go offshore where the hydrilla finally tapered off and the big girls just couldn't resist that lure. Especially on the Butler chain. I've stayed offshore ever since. By the way the old timers laughed at us until we beat em

Spot on knowledge. Weekend pressure is far greater than ive ever seen. With the wed thurs fri afternoon tournaments going all year now in any larger body of water im starting to think maybe we should reconsider a tournament season or an off limits time for the fish to not be harrassed. How many are we hurting. I know its not a popular subject Steve but the fish cant speak for themselves. Catch and release has helped now what else can we as sportmen do

They will sell it till its gone. Seen salmon get protected at the last percent of the total amount of population. Reservations have fishing rights, and whales eat more of the 20 lb fish for food supply, leaving 500 boats fishing for just 1 or maybe 4 fish cought all day w 500 boats. West coast failed to protect the salmon.and care nothing about lake fish,they tell you to take limits, and have not seen what's available to take.touch illegal poaching w live bait,and trot lines w 100 hooks and worms for bait. Sad stuff I've seen ...

I think that a lot of times this is where bank anglers have an advantage because as boaters, we tend to have that trolling motor kicked on high and covering water; making pitches and casts until we get a bite to start working an area thoroughly. I feel like bank anglers will usually make more casts from one spot before moving on.

Great explanation. I fish a lot of shallow, marshy water where it's often very flat. When the bass are getting pressured near the bank, they will often retreat only 20-30 feet to some eel grass, kissimmee grass, or reeds nearby where they can get more cover.

Great video...through the years, been my experience, very seldom do I fish, "shore to boat". Best percentage has been, starting "deep" then gradually go "shallow", making multiple passes PARALLEL to the shore. Been EDGE fishing since I can remember and I's old. Tight lines and God bless everybody.

In addition to this great info, as I am a 1yr in angler. Last year, I was fishing by chance. What I mean by that is, I would go to a location/spot/area that I thought might hold fish but only would cast a few times. I’m not sure if this is actually considered “power fishing” as I don’t think I actually gave an area a chance, even if I catch a fish there. I’m wondering if you could answer this or maybe on another episode: how long do you stay at a spot/area/location prior to moving to the next? I realize this is my goal this year but also don’t want to overdo it to a point that I am missing out finding a pattern. Thanks again. - Born Again Angler
@SteveRogersOutdoors
@SteveRogersOutdoors 4 месяца назад
This is a great question. If I fish a new body of water and pick a location to start, I will use what I call a searching method first. I will grab a lure that will allow me to cover water quickly (which is usually a horizontal type lure, swim jig, crankbaits, swimming worm, or even topwaters.) And I am covering a lot of water looking for a clue. That may be an actual fish I catch, or just a bite, or even if I see a fish follow. I will then switch up to something else that I can probe the area with carefully. This could be some bottom-bouncing type lures like shaky heads, jigs, or Carolina rigs. So often if you find one there are quite a few more in the area. Once I have worked the area over I move on and start searching again. For me, that may be 10-15 casts with a couple different lures and then I will move on. Naturally, there are a lot of other factors that go into the positioning of the fish, but as far as how I will use lures when truly looking and then trying to pick an area apart, that is how I will approach it. I hope that helps some. Let me know if there are other questions you have or if I didn't answer something you were looking for.
@fishncoach8699
@fishncoach8699 4 месяца назад
Cool video and footage. I question if the reason they move there is pressure. They are actually closer to the boat there, although water is deeper, just me thinking so they feel less pressure moving closer to the trolling motor, boat shadow, electronics ping. I think it may just be there natural place to go. But I'm just thinking out loud. Good video 👍🏻

@Rooster0529
@Rooster0529 4 месяца назад
Just grab it and throw it in your waders 😂
@SteveRogersOutdoors
@SteveRogersOutdoors 4 месяца назад
That is definitely tough when they slam it so close. If possible, feed them some line but maintain slight pressure. In other words, you don’t want slack in there but when they hit that close they are going to run and they need to calm down a bit before you are able to land them. Depending on the lure and presentation you are using, the drag setting can vary, but feeding some line either by hand, thumbing it, back reeling or letting the drag slip will help. Great question.
