Being born in 1945 I’m remember every one of these! We didn’t get a television until I was married. It was an old black and white. This is when the television came on at 8 AM and turned off all three stations at 11 PM. Bought marbles for my children still wear my aprons, Mom made matching outfits for all us girls and her, my father smoked and had a beanbag ashtray on the dashboard of the vehicle, definitely remember, mash, definitely remember the tidy bowl, man because it was so stupid, Hawaiian Punch was disgusting might as well be drinking, pure sugar that left your lips, red, could not stand the rattan furniture, I think it was funny. You don’t realize that there was refrigerators in the 70s considering most homes had them in the 50s, but then again, considering you’re young, I guess I’ll have to let that one slide. Battle of the network stars was entertaining to the kids, the gas cap behind the license plate. Definitely remember in the 70s. We had an oil and gas issue where odd number license got certain days to fill up an even got another set of days and you had to park overnight to get a decent spot becausegas ran out from gas stations and you had to leave your vehicle, definitely remember my boys acting like nights and shining armor with their wooden swords and the trashcan lids. Going back to the 70s making people sound like they’re old is really funny.
I got 8. My grandma used to keep butter mints in a candy dish that looked like a chicken. And the night of the last MASH I was bedbound with chickenpox. My mother brought the TV into my room so I could watch. Born in 1967 and I am pretty sure I remember all of those things. I even remember the Tidy-bowl commercials with the calypso singers, in a boat in the toilet, singing about there being lemon in the tidy-bowl. I miss the 70's.
God, I remember all of these and the Candy yep mostly Butterscotch but also the misc candy always stuck together. Often think of how often we played "war" with baseball cards, my brother still has a few thousand we all used. I am sure there are some there would be worth a lot if they weren't worn from much use. Also note all the people are slim and not fat perhaps because we moved around(not that we had much choice). MASH was awesome and I believe we saw Wonder Woman(linda carter oh my)
Boyd you youngin!!! I was born in 76 and remember all this stuff !!!! Not feeling old yet, but I also know nobody beats Father Time.....enjoy the trip!!!
I remember every single one, the high back wicker chairs, we would drag them to the door when it was time to breast feed and we could talk to each other at the same time 😂🤭, my goodness where did the time go, thanks for bringing back such fond memories 💖🤗
I got all 12 of them. Of course, I was born in '57! YES! There were refrigerators & Freezers in the 70s! But the juices and drinks in those tin cans were labeled "Refrigerate After Opening' - so they were kept in the cabinet prior to being opened. So, yes! I am "old"! Lol Even my grandkids know better than to call me old! I've just experienced more! I LOVE your videos!
We all had the best time shooting marbles, flipping sports cards, etc, etc, etc. There was so much to keep children happy, busy and humanized all day long. I surely miss my childhood...
I remember or experienced all 13 1-marbles, the summer between 3rd and 4th grade, I cleaned up, big time, and kids stopped playing marbles with me because I always won. 2-Hard candy. For Halloween I hated houses that gave away hard candy. It means that they put no thought into their candy selection. 3-Pippi Longstocking-CBS had a Saturday morning kids show, Kukla, Fran & Ollie, that had kids movies, often European (this included Pippi), but because they were European, there were scenes where the kids, were, shall we say, without clothing. I discovered this, to my horror, when I rented said movies at Blockbuster. CBS, of course, didn't show these scenes. 4. Our town had a policy where everyone's garbage cans had to be 55 gallon barrels. 5. Because my mom was a nurse, she took us kids to see MASH when it was a movie at the the theater (it was graphic for it's time) and we later watched the TV series. 6. Aprons still a thing today 7. God, ashtrays. In the 60's/70's they were everywhere. Thank God smoking is at an all time low, as compared to 50 years ago. 8. When I was young, because we were poor, mom made a lot of stuff on the sewing machine. 9. Battle of the Network Stars, looked forward to because actresses where given swimsuits without padding and when they climbed out of the pool... 10. I only had Hawaiian Punch once. Our town had a bottling plant with 22 varieties of sodas, including Blueberry soda. Yum!! 11. Ty D bowl-nuff said 12. I hated rattan furniture. 13. One summer I pumped gas for tips at a gas station (how I financed my soda fix) and learned the hard way that some Chevy cars had a gas cap behind the left tail light.
I'm old. I remember all of them. I'm surprised Mr. Boyd didnt recognize Caitlin Jenner standing to Howard Cosells left in the Battle of the Network Stars portion. Also, refrigerators have been common since the late 1920s to early 1930s.
I remember 10 of them...I still have a Bean Bag Ashtray. Loved M.A.S.H. watched every night, and watched every night the reruns..still watch reruns from time to time. And yes they had refrigerators even back in the 50's. LOL
Loved those assorted candies that all stuck together. Favorites were the lemon candy with sugar crystals on it and after dinner mints with my great-grandpa. M*A*S*H was excellent. I'm old for sure because I remember every single one. I am 62 after all. 😂 We used to freeze Hawaiian Punch until it was slushy in the can add Ginger Ale or 7-Up to make a punch for parties. 12:29
I was born in 88, but grew up in a small town that was way behind the times and things were handed down a lot, so I have experience with all of these except the TV ones, as I wasn't alive yet for them. Although I watched a lot of M.A.S.H. reruns with my father. So I guess I'm pretty darn old 😅
I was born 1967, I know ALL of the 70's and up :) I remember Steel trash cans.. I remember recycling PAPER grocery bags for trash bags. No plastic bags.. and YES there were fridges and freezers.. those been about since the mid 30's . I remember the first plastic trash can liners . they were crap. could NEVER be trusted to split or leak. I remember the flip down license plate filler flap. I remember the candy dish.. those are still old people standby. Battle of Network Stars was lots of fun. yes, youtube has episodes. I also remember, fondly, the smell of Hawaiian Tropic tanning lotion. It disappeared late 80's
My father was a marble champion. Everything else I completely am nostalgic about it but I'm going to say this. Why we were fooled into thinking that plastic was better than glass and paper products is the reason why we are full of toxins today ✌️😇✌️
My (biological) dad collected Marbles, and tried to teach me to play. I owned two Pippi Longstalking books and used to watch the movie. I scored 5 , but to be fair my dads (step and biological) influenced me a lot, like my stepdad watching MASH. My mom and I dressed identical when we both graduated from college. She was encouraged by my success, and earned her AA alongside me. We even took a few classes together. Relatives had wicker. Loved this vid. MEMORIES. I'm forty five btw
Putting a twist on,25 cents would fill to the top a beer can bag, cutting out the team roaster from the TV guide for Monday night football for you electric football game
1:21 Marbles is a serious game bro I forgot to count, but I only missed 3 or 4... But, I also spent a lot of time at my Grandparent's house as a kid... otherwise I probably would have been at like 4 or 5
You're right about marbles. Boys used to play "keepsies" where you could win your opponent's marbles by winning the game. That's where the phrase "playing for all the marbles" comes from.
@bl3313 I actually didn't know that's where the saying came from, but it makes total sense now, lol. In I think the 90's they came out with something called Crazy Bones that were very similar to Marbles, so that's what my generation switched to off of Jax and Marbles
I was born in 1980 and pretty much every thing on the list was the 1970's but was being carried over into the 80's by then in one form or other and some of this stuff still exists. Some of these things I have a vague memory of. I remember Pippi Longstocking as a movie, apparently there were several but didn't know it was a book series. After looking it up, it is a Swedish series from the 1940s. Church keys was something you found in every kitchen. It was used on any can that contained liquids like V8, condensed milk, pineapple juice, motor oil, ect. The other end was used to open bottles of beer or soda since the twist cap bottle didn't exist yet. I don't remember the Battle of the Network Stars, but do know some of the people pictured, the first lady is Valerie Bertinelli from "One Day at a Time", the second lady is Lynda Carter aka Wonder Woman, the third lady is Susan Summers, the guy on the right is Bruce Jenner, in the next image I don't know the two girls on either side but the one in the middle is Heather Locklear. As for the Refrigerators question, they became popular in the late 1920s. The strawberry candies are still sold today, sometimes they are in what is called an old fashion mix. They were invented in the mid-1800's, so pretty old.
I remember most of these. I feel old now. Only 4 that I don't remember. 3 if you count the license plate at the end, as I have seen those in older TV shows or movies.
He forgot don't squeeze the Charmin guy and it's time to make the donuts guy. And the downy commercial with the lady saying don't mess with mother nature.
I remember all of them, and I still don’t feel old. The tidy bowl thing have more to do with the tidy Bowman commercials than the toilet cleaning itself.
I remember ALL except The Battle of the Network Stars. The mother daughter dress alike is remember, but never done by me and my mother. Refridgerater have been previlant since the 40' and 50' by then basically everyone had a refridgerator. Plastic was not used to deliver or store food in. It was either glass or cans.
While I'm aware of all these, I only have memories of 8 of them. Also, M*A*S*H was my favorite show growing up, despite the fact that it ended before I was old enough to start watching TV. I've seen every episode at least twice and own the whole series on DVD.
I am a 80s baby I remember all of them except the tv shows and the car license plate. It's probably because my perents we dint see tv and by the time they had a car it was 90s.
Born in 69, but there definitely is a bias. Everything in that list, except for the gas tank position (which is a good idea), still exists today. The plastic garbage bins are defined by my city but you can still find a lot of non-pickup metal garbage cans at walmart and plastic garbage bins existed in the 50s, so I don't even remember seeing them out doors even as a child. None of the things listed were even a small part of my childhood. I knew they were there but they were no-where near important to my childhood.
I got "11" of them lol. Just says my age for me but i loved growing up in the 70's & 80's & 60's even tho i don't remember as much from then. I was born in 63. 😁
We didn't have all this plastic that is bad. ..for your health and environment. Glass and cans were it. Unless you always had Tupperware. Milk was delivered in glass jugs. My mom would go buy me Frosty Root beer in glass jugs. Little spoiled only child. Lol Everything tasted so much better in glass. Now the only thing we see in glass is alcohol products beer wine and so on. Always loved cashing in pop bottles for recycling. Gave you pocket money.😊
I was born in '62. I remember all of them except for the mother-daughter matching dresses. My mother used to sew dresses for my sister, but never matching ones. I was big on marbles when I was a kid, and I owned a couple cars with the gas caps behind the license plates. I always preferred those to the caps on the side. However, in California, where I live, the gas nozzles withe the fume capturing systems would never fit now.
I pointed out lol. Must be old I remember all Of these. MASH was awesome my dad VHS recorded all Of them lol. With the apron I wore on at steak n shake. Real One a d a paper hat we had to wear
I know this is random, but I saw your reaction to “rappin for Jesus”. You should listen to Lyrical Lively - what does the word say. She’s an ol lady that low key kills it and I always forget it’s on my Spotify until it comes on randomly😂
You were too funny on this one... the guy who did the video and I are probably about the same age. The hawian punch was room temperature because it was originally stored that way on a shelf. After we punched it open, it would go in the refrigerator. Hawian puch was a treat, warm or cold, so you wouldn't turn it down.
yeah i rem plastic and i didnt watch mash till i got older it was a good show Radar always hid his hand it was deformed, good times no DEI or Transsexuals trying to groom kids in school
